Spending New Years In The Ozarks! (Ha Ha Tonka SP)

- In this episode of Wandering Wagners we ventured in to Missouri to Ha Ha Tonka State Park where we lost Winter and asked ourselves Where's the Snow & Ice?!
We also got to visit Missouri natives and friends @raising8 Kimmie and Willie Wright and their youngest son, Hank and boxer pup Drax.
We stayed at the Ozarks/Linn Creek @koacampgrounds KOA and got a really nice site! It was a pull thru-FHU patio site that faced away from the road. Full hook-up meant that we could get a bunch of laundry done while not worrying about filling up and emptying tanks which was sooo nice! Mike even went to the store to re-stock groceries and he bought me a new vacuum for use in the @NeXusRV Wraith Super C RV! It's a @tinecotechnology2524 cordless stick vacuum that can be used as a handheld which was exactly what i wanted! It worked amazing and i used it a TON since we got it. Definitely worth it to keep the RV looking and feeling clean.

We ended up convincing the Wrights to camp out for New Years eve with us and I think that's the only reason we ALL made it to midnight to ring in the new year! Happy 2023!
We later visited @MissouriStateParks Ha Ha Tonka State Park where we we able to get in some new years day hiking! The weather was incredibly HOT the entire trip time we were in Missouri and frankly, we hated it but LOVED the sun! We did a lot of steps and really enjoyed the scenery. My only complaint is that because it was so warm outside, we didn't get to go as far as we would have liked. so that just means we have to return!
Since it was so hot, we went to get frozen custard at @AndysFrozenCust and really LOVED it! So good and creamy! The dogs also enjoyed their custard pup cup after a hot day of hiking.
Overall it was a great time and we can't wait to see where we end up next!

Ha Ha Tonka is about 1.5 hours North of my Mother-in-Laws new house. Might have to go check it out this summer when we go see her!

Hey Mike have you and Lynn ever been to table rock lake down that way? It is absolutely beautiful the water is crystal clear and it's very deep. By the way Mike the next time you buy Lynn a toy give me a call and let me give you some suggestions OK. A vacuum come on.

Actually I wanted the vacuum😁I use it all the time in the Wraith while traveling. Gets dirty and broom doesn't do great on carpet lol
Technical Ozarks, but living in the heart of the Ozarks I never consider that area part of the Ozarks. Been to castle a couple times. Our club stays at Bennett Springs SP.
We enjoy this area and this park was beautiful! Just wish they offered camping too
Missouri is state I haven't explored yet. The burgers looked great! 2022 was rough for me, I'm glad 2023 is here! The KOA looked like it had what you needed. Nice job.

Missouri is great just avoid spring because the ticks are insane there! Worst we've ever experienced anywhere haha
Missouri here. Yes the Ticks can be bad in certain areas. Try more areas. Won't disappoint 😉 Try some of the lakes ❤️

I was at Ha Ha Tonka a few times in my teens and twenties. It looks better than I remember 40+ years ago. It was a high of 62 hear in STL MO yesterday l. ✌️💙🎵
It's a pretty nice park and we've been to those state park and lake of the Ozarks in 2021, and we've really enjoyed both so far!

It was warm and extremely mild this winter in Missouri. It is normal for it to be both extremely warm and then extremely cold. This winter was weird though. It felt more spring like than winter. February & March have been a bit more "winter like".
It also depends on where in the state you are too though. Missouri can be 60's and spring like then drop down to the 30's and start snowing all in the same day. The only thing that is consistent is its inconsistent weather. 😊
Yeah most of the country had a weird Winter! We didn't get the lot of snow and cold we love. We didn't expect snow where we were but we didn't expect to sweat that much😂

That's a very good point about piper going on ice! Haha dumpster kitty didn't appreciate our presence lol this was the first time we had three frozen custard and loved it!

@@EBKRV412 some of the regular sites are pretty close but a few along the edge were nice and this was probably the best one! Downside was all the road noise

Hey, you made it to the Ozarks lol, but you need to come down south of there, to the middle of the Ozarks, I think you'll it a whole lot different...anyway, I drove out to Quartzsite, first time in a RV, it's very interesting, alot to see, I figured gotta do it once...
We were in the Ozarks in 2021 as well and enjoyed it! We stayed longer that time but we didn't record a ton of other places in the area.
We've considered going to quartzite one of these years too. Have a great time!

We were last in Missouri in 2021 so it was good to be back! Weather was crazy warm though.

It seems that you don’t run into any state parks that don’t allow dogs. We are going to the wrong parks I guess. Party on!
Very few we have been to have certain trails that say no dogs. If they don't allow dogs, we generally don't visit haha
Many national parks don't allow dogs on trails and that's a big reason we don't visit many. There are a few that do allow them though
What mics were you using on that last shot? I am always having audio issues with my iPhone 13 Pro Max. Much easier working with the audio on my Canon G7X. You guys sound great!

Have you thought about taking a 2 week vacation and heading out west towards Glacier National Park or the Grand Canyon? It's pretty amazing out in this area.
We were last out west to northern Idaho in 2021, last in Arizona in 2014. We love those places!
