I love the Winter Beater. My favorite car on the chanel. It's very close to my '08 Mazda3 i. Original owner, 189k miles (304k Kilometers). Hope it sticks around for another season.

Could you do a video where you try to fit speed 3 bumpers on one of the n/a 3's

    • @ColtonRichter
      @ColtonRichter  2 роки тому

I don't have a Speed 3 bumper, they don't fit either way but maybe one day!

You would need to a whole front end swap and at that point you might as well speed swap that motor too

Been watching for a while and I did my first oil change to my 1st gen sedan back in December, but I wasn't too confident on placement for jack stands. Everywhere on the internet references the pinch welds for jacking points, but there isn't enough clearance for both a floor jack and stand? There's one(?) video out there and it's just too dark to see anything. Is it possible to have an *overly* simple video for the first timers like myself? Please and thanks!

I've been placing the stands on the big, round control arm bushing

If you're doing your own oil changes, you should get some RhinoRamps. You'll be glad you did.
The first oil change I did on my Mazda 5 I did on ramps in the road in the middle of December. The road wasn't exactly level either.
I (currently) have 4 cars and have done my own oil changes for years now. Ramps are great for anything you don't need to take weight off of the wheels for. Faster setup than a QuickJack (which I also have) or conventional jacks, and safer than regular jacks as well.
Also, if you're like me, and keep trashy beaters on the road, ramps aren't going to risk fucking up your rusted-out pinch welds, etc.
Fumoto valves are nice also. Don't recall if I have one on my 5 yet but I have one on all of my other cars. As easy as the flip of a lever to drain the old oil. If you have enough ground clearance and/or the drain plug is on the side of the pan and not the bottom, you can get ones that have connectors for tubing so you can drain the oil directly into your drain pan without ever making a mess.

Ew I can't believe you just said 5 weight 20. The "W" stands for "Winter". Because that's the weight of oil during the cold parts of Winter. I say cold parts because it not as much of a big deal here in Texas, but for you guys it's pretty cold, the the oil definitely changes weight.

hey Colton I got a q, I'm trying to upgrade my stereo do you recommend something like eonon and know if it works for the wheel and do you have any suggestions for nice looking but very bright capable headlight housings? drive a 05 sedan

The eonon can be glitchy for some people but specifically if you just use CarPlay it’s great. Looks “oem”-ish, I’ve never had a problem with it, and it does work with the buttons on the wheel

Hi. You should also check the coolant sensor and the quality of the antifreeze in the coolant. It is definitely important, especially with the temperatures you have there. Here in the north of Germany it wasn't or isn't as cold and snowy as it is here. I think semi-synthetic 10W40 is enough because of the oil. Greetings ;)

Man I've been working on my car in the snow and rain in my driveway. Not the fondest but it had to be done.
Throw down a tarp and some cardboard and have at er!
Don't recommend the driveway if you have a garage unless your looking for some self torture😂
I totally agree about the sliding. Like 5-10 min it's fun then I'm like what now? Haha time to go buy an AWD I think🧐
