By pure chance I lucky was enough to have a tour of Brook's workshop last month. He is a true gentleman and very generous with his time. Great to see a small town guy making a big international impact with his skill and knowledge. Can't wait for the hollywood movie!
Brook Henry is world famous when it comes to Ducatis, I had no idea he lives in Nannup, used to go there regularly when the timber mills were working. Mike Hailwood was the best racer of his time, saw him at Brands Hatch around 1968 on the Honda 6. The IoM TT win on the Ducati shows just how good he was. My brother and I both had Ducatis in the 1970s, me on a yellow 750S and his was a 900SS when they first came to Australia.
What a great report. Real Aussie. Laid back, common bloke, world beater in little country town. Don’t think the reporter know a Ducati from a Vespa but she did a great job. Love you Auntie
Wonderful stuff - what a man! (Hailwood and Brook!) I watched Hailwood in the 1967 Senior TT from Hilbery when he was riding that ill-handling 500 Honda. I have never seen before or since any rider with so much bike control. The rear wheel skipped left and right continuously at around 150mph on the straight!
Nice to see someone continuing the line of Ducati spares in Australia. I owned a business in the 80's in Toowoomba building & restoring many Ducati models, especially MHR's & '79 SS's.
I purchased my Darmah the weekend Mike the Bike won Isle of Man in 1978. It just happened that a telex came into the dealer informing them, as we were finalizing the deal. Still looking like new in the garage with approximately 24,000 miles on her.
Will never foget the day Brook delivered a brand new Alchame race bike to mates house in Morley in 1989. He went past first then came back and burnouted on the front door. V2 workshop in Bayswater was incredible , state of the art bikes , all hand built 👏
At the 1979 TT I have been sitting on Mikes Ducati while it was in the Paddock after the race ( ok it was the 1978 frame round rear swing arm !) Have a photo to proof it . 🏆🏍️
It sure is but the real shame here is that story comes across as a student project instead of a proper journalists piece. The man deserves much more time and a proper dive into the work he has done over the decades he has been in business.
I had no idea the race 900 MHR had a special engine outside normal production. I have read that some racers took factory engines of that era, and highly modified the crankshafts, and cylinder heads, believe the heads are probably the most unique in this instance.
It was actually the NCR works up the road from the Ducati factory that built the NCR race bikes. The engines in particular were a special build series. I think there were about 40 of them built. LThey were nothing like the MHR replicas built by Ducati at the factory. The crankcases were a narrow sump design with a space and spigot for a spin on oil filter. Modern Ducati air cooled twins use the spin filter to this day. Everything in the NCR engine was drilled and or otherwise lightened. Not so the MHR production bike. I built a race motor in 1983-4 based on the same specs. It took us months but it did deliver. Mr Henry builds a complete complianced round case based bike, based on the NCR engine and the 1974 ‘GreenFrame’which you can order. It is in fact far superior to the MHR. the 12 MHR-NCR replicas built by Henry are really NCR Scudaria works replicas as modified by Steve WynnSPORTS Motorcycles in England. Not to be confused with MHR replicas. There is much more to the story than this report has stated.
Interesting fact...the Conti exhausts on a standard 900SS were too loud for the IoM TT. Hailwood raced with Triumph Bonneville silencers painted black on his bike.
The Ducati Master at work. Really interesting vid about an iconic bike first brought to my attention at 15 when a friend's brother rode into his driveway on one. WOW! Was our obvious reaction to a unique looking and sounding bike, I'll never forget that summer's day and the Ducati's bright red/green paintwork.
Great video, please do more. I have owned !965 Srambler, 1973 750 Sport, 1974 750 GT which I still have. Regrettably I sold a 900 SS that I raced here in America.
That is awesome news! Long may he continue. The standard Hailwood Replica was a most enjoyable ride with its willing engine, long wheelbase and Conti silencers, but that race bike must be fantastic.
Wish i had known about the ducati factory in Nannup when we visited from Queensland last November. Fantastic to see what Brook has achieved. Saw Mike the bike race many years ago. What a legend. Cheers Ian
He's only 350km from me in Perth, going to meet and have a chat with Brook Henry is my lotto dream! Because I wouldn't waste the man's time if I didn't have money to spend.
If Singer can sell £1m restomod Porsches on an application only basis, you could never build enough of these to satisfy the demand out there... The demand for skills like these is far outstripped by the availability. Take note kids, if you love these types of things then there's a world of bespoke manufacturing out there begging for people who want to learn how to do it.
100 years from now when Earth don't have petroleum and production of gasolines, these classic motorcycles will be the ultimate treasure in the museums.
Fun video and very much looking forward to Eric's movie. When will it be out? Maybe they will let me park my '80 MHR inside the lobby that night. My bike was originally sold by Steve Wynn's shop.
What a legend , in our own backyard , never would have thought , had i known , in 1979 this 21yo Ducati nut thru thru , woulda been kicking his door down to get a job , i have a humble Ducati 1999. 996 , but if i need expert input i know where to go . Ducatirati RARARA
One point of confusion; the press reports after Mr. Hailwood's IoM win stressed that the Sports MC Ducati's motor was a perfectly standard motor available any customer. This detail made Mike's win even more extraordinary. It also may explain why the motor blew up as Mike took the flag.
By pure chance I lucky was enough to have a tour of Brook's workshop last month. He is a true gentleman and very generous with his time. Great to see a small town guy making a big international impact with his skill and knowledge.
Can't wait for the hollywood movie!
I am so proud to own a Mike hailwood NCR replica, Brook built the engine in it 5 years ago, hes a mechanical genius
How does the bike go? Must be a trill!

Brook is a fine example of the classic Australian "quiet achiever".
Kiwi actually, by birth.
@@johnstaring3210 Ha - beat me to it!
He’s a kiwi.
@@johnstaring3210 But chose to settle in a bush town in Australia, NZ has been sending their best talent here for decades.
What a great report. Real Aussie. Laid back, common bloke, world beater in little country town. Don’t think the reporter know a Ducati from a Vespa but she did a great job. Love you Auntie
Amazing... What craftsmanship. It's ART.
Good on the gov for helping make this happen in rural Oz.
Really great to see a guy with so much talent and the fact that his skills are working so well for him.

Still in Toowoomba?

Give it to someone who will ride it and maintain or put it in a museum, or just pass
Brook is a great bloke and a real quiet achiever. Great to see him getting some recognition for his passionate approach to Ducati art
What a legend Brook is. A noble cause!
Enjoyed that, it is a real pleasure to see a real craftsman and somebody with a genuine passion for what he does at work.
One of the places a aimed for when I was in Aus in the year 2000, also met an interesting character, Wayne Paterson, another Ducati guy...top blokes!
❤I’m rebuilding a 750 Sport for an old friend at present. I love Henry’s work.

Thank you for sharing. I'm a Engine Builder/Machinist from the U.S., and I truly enjoyed this video.

Brook Henry has been known for decades as the bvel Drive Ducati master...hats off to him.
Brook is a great bloke, glad to see his story getting told

More power to you Brook, I remember taking my '75 model SS to you when you had your workshop in Bayswater.

Bravissimo, too sad see that master like you are disappearing in Italy, thank you and a big hello from Rimini

Brook your a real champion and a true gentleman.
Fabulous engineer
Inspirational 👌
What an absolute genius and a genuine enthusiast. Superb build quality. 👌
I believe Mike Hailwood was and continues to be the greatest motorcycle racer ever. I so look forward to a movie about his career.
I saw Hailwood many times and for sure he s the greatest
I can’t wait for the soundtrack ❤

Hollywood needs to make a movie about Mike and Kenny Roberts. Both are legends in motorcycle racing.

I remember a couple of MHR as regulars in my area, sadly they were twice the cost of my worked j1.
Amazing!!
Less than 40 minutes from me and had no idea!!!
A true champion
Hi Brook . Great to see you got another crazy project. See ya soon . I'm not far away in Manypeaks.
What a legend , in our own backyard , never would have thought , had i known , in 1979 this 21yo Ducati nut thru thru , woulda been kicking his door down to get a job , i have a humble Ducati 1999. 996 , but if i need expert input i know where to go . Ducatirati RARARA
Mike Hailwood, the GOAT!
Amazing stuff, wish Brook would start his own youtube channel, it would be hugely popular.
Thank you.
Legend of a Fella . Master Class Ducati Specialest
Excellent! Ducati is force once again. 👏👏👍👍
Hope the movie goes ahead
Great story
I just hope the the movie tells the correct and truthful story.
Baie mooi goed gedoen

Fabulous
Did I hear you say £100,000?! Mu old man has 1 in pieces but it's all original 900ss Mike Hailwood Rep from the factory
Love it....
Nice one.
Will electric cars and bikes ever inspire dedication of men like this?I doubt it.
My dad has one with under 40k on the clock
Why on earth are you only making 12, you should keep making them until they stop selling ...
He is actually a Kiwi.
Wasn't expecting Richard from Gas Monkey to be there in Nannup.
He was involved in one IOMTT race because he is opneing up a car resto business in the UK. It was a publicity deal basically with FHO Racing.
Great story, pretty poorly told. What happened at the end ?
no motor sound, wast of my time.
First
In a word...WOW!!!!
