To answer the questions in the title, Yes.
Exactly. Why can't it be both.
As a man of culture I am absolutely delighted with her as a protagonist. I am a huge fan of women. That’s why I married one😂

Every video game is suppose to do three things.
1. Look good: From their character designs to environments.
2. Sound good: From the sound of voices, attacks and the soundtrack.
3. Play good: Responsive Controls. Intuitive Design. And 60 fps.
Stellar Blade gets a S Tier Grade in all of these categories. And it plays at 1440p 60 fps in Prioritize Performance Mode. Which is incredible!
As a straight woman I’m so stoked to play a kick ass, stunning protagonist! Maybe I like fan service? So what! Do I want to play a game as a 90 year old man? Maybe, but I won’t have as much fun.
Curious to see how her boob physics are 😂
I played through the demo and pre-ordered it. I can't wait until the 26th to finally play it.
if only it was on PC
@@GameFuMasterbased on Sony’s track record, I’m certain it will hit PC eventually
Look how long it took Ghost of Tsushima!
I preordered the game sight unseen when the chatter hit the fan against ShiftUp and Eve's model being unrealistic despite being a body scan of a MODEL. The more I see of the game the more I'm excited to play it! Also bought Tekken 8 for the same reason and I've loved playing it as well!
Remember - fit attractive women (or men for that matter) can't possibly actually be a real potentially obtainable body type or all the people who don't take care of themselves will have to face an ugly truth
i was completely disinterested in stellar blade for the longest time ever until the absolute deluge of game journalist hate became an inescapable occurrence so i pre ordered the game and have genuinely enjoyed every moment of it i've played so far =))

Nah. Eve is better imo.
Hopefully we get to know something about her through Eve.

Go figure, since there's a decent chance she's gonna end up being our rival in the full game.
I'll be freaking out about Tachy when they give her a skinsuit too.😂
I would literally buy Fanservice: The Game, but this is a great game to play while I wait.
Pretty sure that would be Senran Kagura. ESPECIALLY Estival Versus where they added the Lewd-alities. I like to say "Blood is to MK as anime boobs are to Senran Kagura".

As an old school PC gamer the very first thing I do when launching a new game is to go through all the settings and options to see what I can change. This is a habit I think every gamer should inhibit for their convenience.
That is how I knew about auto loot and didn't have to deal with motion blur nor camera shake from the get-go.
Also "How to pick up items?". What is this guy saying?
This is not a game where you have to press certain button to pick things up. You just pass over them and that's it. Why did he need instructions for something like that?
@@SIPEROTH Auto loot isn't on by default and you actually have to pick stuff up manually if it's off.
Stellar Blade is amazing. I had a feeling it was more than just an attractive woman
The world was meh, seen it before. But an attractive protag was just icing on the cake honestly, that aspect pales in comparison to its enemy designs and soundtrack which were both fantastic.

I actually really like the fact that there isn't a complex XP system where I have to manage stats for this game. This is completely personal preference, but it usually takes me a really long time to figure things like stats and leveling out in a game, and for something like stellar blade, I don't think that is necessary at all. I get it for games like Elden Ring (which I loved), but I'm glad they didn't do that here. Doing that lets me focus on how to optimize my playstyle to fit the gameplay and character instead of building my own movesets/abilities from scratch (which is still fun). This helps with learning new things and getting out of my comfort zone a little, doing things that I would not normally do. Yet the skill tree seems large enough that it can allow for certain sub-playstyles.
I don't think there is anything wrong at all with making a game with attractive characters. In fact, because I am a very cosmetically oriented gamer (yes, armor too), I can get turned off to a game very quickly if I can't look good while killing things. For example, I really like Helldivers 2 for the gameplay, and they have enough unique and good looking armor sets that I don't get really board with looking the exact same as every other democratic fighter out there.
In my opinion, I think this will be a fantastic game on most if not all fronts.
I prefer the skill tree over just leveling up a stat. Adding more to ur kit rather than just altering a number is my type of thing.
Also I think an option should be added to the main menu once you beat the game the first time to enable/disable first cutscene view skip
Dude, just listening to your video in the background, I am loving the war cries that Eve is making while you slay your enemies. That’s something I haven’t really seen in a game like this before. I’ve only heard grunts and cries in a couple arcade style fighting games, mostly when taking damage, not doing damage. Awesome! 👏🏼
Did I hear that right? You stopped playing RD2 and GoW: Ragnarok?! That’s some S tier games you’re missing out on.
Best review I heard yet, and I watched a LOT of videos.
You didn't talk about the amazing music though, made by the same composer as Nier.
I bought a new Sony TV last month, and a PS5 in 2 weeks, ONLY for this game first.
Cut scenes are skippable. Hold Circle
Yeah what is this guy talking about?
Whats so wrong about the Main character being hot and well endowed? Like who cares we literally have Bayonetta and Nier Automata. Not to mention bikini armor in Dragons Dogma 2.

4:50 people don't go into the settings when they start a new game ?
Not casuals, no
no
first thing i do is turn off subtitles. i can hear everything they say without reading the dialog. makes the game look better not paying attention to a bunch of words.
The most frustrating thing with many new games is when they just hop straight into cutscenes and gameplay before even giving access to the options.
That might be fine on console, but makes no sense on PC
@@SchrodingersDinger I dont know a single game that doesnt let you access settings before playing, and even then appart from may be graphics controls should be the same on each game
The game is really good! It has awesome mechanics, sound design, awesome haptic feedback music, visuals. And, if you add attractive characters-both female and male-it's a huge plus. Can't wait!!!!
I tried story mode it is as challenge as normal it slows the enemies down during certain attacks and will give you visual clues on when to block parry or dodge
I love the fluid animations, I think that’s the thing that really stands out. When you can input into a controller and. It only does the game respond quickly, but the animation even makes sense, that’s a really good feeling experience. Sifu gave me that vibe, session certainly does, and those are currently in a sense a “last gen” experience as far as animations goes. I’m excited that new gaming tech allows for better and truer animation connecting and I’m excited to see what kind of games come out, especially when ai starts driving the animation selections.
To be fair.. how hard could it be to learn how to pick up an item?
It's just a button, right?
It tells you immediately too, can also skip cutscenes, just not a very small part of them. Seems like he just wants to find stuff to complain about honestly 😅
You can skip the cutscenes in the demo...
Glad someone said it
No you can't. Not at first at least. You tripping.
@@CallingAllMadMen not at first... You only have to see the cinematic once... But then you can skip it...
I definitely agree with you with regards to the difficulty, some bosses take a few retries to figure out, however, at this point, it didn't felt like anything the bosses do were particularly cheap. I actually want to learn their moves and overcome them, may also be the reason why I'm sure their monsters will become more memorable than generic minions of other games. You can even practice your parry and dodge skills with the tiny ones just for the fun of it, they don't have a finishing animation though.
if you dont want to watch this vid i will answer the question, i forgot about all sex appeal once i started fighting tough shit with sick move sets, game is amazing in everything, sex appeal visuals combat and enemy bosses and design and environment, fan service is absolutely on point more games need to take this direction honestly. Made me realize why i dont play dark souls games, cant handle my playable character being slow boring and fugly af, stellar fixes all of this
Excellent review, but I beg to differ on one important point... I am a lifelong Xbox user, and only just recently bought a PS5 specifically for this game. As such, I found it very difficult to get used to the combat... so much so that I restarted the demo and set it to Story Mode, and guess what? It was still difficult for me! LOL However, I did quite a bit of training and am now finally beginning to feel like I can actually play the game and have fun doing so. Parrying is absolutely ESSENTIAL to playing this game! I found dodging and movement a bit limited compared to what I'm used to, so I had to learn to stand toe to toe and parry my enemies so as to power up my offensive strength. It is most often the best way to defeat them.
As you said, the combat is astoundingly great, layered, and satisfying. Shift Up have created a masterpiece that will be replayed over and over for years. I can only imagine how good some players will get. I won't be one of them, but I certainly will be far better than I am now. I look forward to that day with great anticipation! LOL
One last thing, I was NOT at all happy about losing Tachy. I'm hoping she somehow gets a reboot or fix. Also, I can't wait to meet Lilly and the other human survivors. A story and lore that's an equal to the combat would be welcome indeed!
I'll be playing on normal. I've been a ps user for a while tho. I found dodging to be much less effective than parrying. Maybe it's just me but there's not much of a window to dodge attacks. In God of war, you can usually dodge one way or another and be fine but in stellar blade, you've got a very small dodge window. Also, the enemy he's talking about with the shield hand, there's a move it does where it grabs and slams you. There's absolutely no way to dodge that while dodging left or right. In fact, I don't think there's a way to dodge it at all if you're too close to him. You also can't parry it. That's a little annoying. Otherwise, he's mostly easy as he doesn't do that move much.
@@michaelfox8802 There is a certain skill you get later before fight the last boss on the demo that works to avoid the attack of the shield guy but even without it i found him pretty easy and i was playing with normal difficulty and skin suit that has no shield so the harder mode you can play currently.
The trick is to simply parry him every time and when he does that grappin move you see a blue light cycle so you just run away from it.
The only bad thing about this game is having to wait for it after that awesome demo!
The answer to that title... is Yes.
To both.
I loved the demo, bought the pre order, it's no nier automata, but it's pretty awesome so far
I havnt finished the demo yet but my only concern is hoping it’s not super linear feeling the whole game. Like I hope it opens up more. Not completely open world feeling but not too closed ya know
can you unlocked everything on the skills or do you have a limited amount of skill points?
Enemies respawn, they drop exp, leveling up grants skill points, so yes, you can grind skill points if you want
Hope in the final game we can jump higher and dodge longer
This is so informative Thanks I've never played this type of game before, now understand it a lot more you earned a sub! I pre ordered Deluxe Edition I'm very excited!
what's wrong with being fit?
Oh man! I am having so much fun learning the combat that I have not left the section with the shielded giant roaches for about 3 days. Just learning dodge timings and parrying makes me feel like this is Sexy Sekiro😂. My wife saw the ladder slide down animation and said "That doesn't look safe" so much laughter followed that comment.
I pre-ordered first day, hell it was in my wishlist for months before pre-orders was available
The mods are gonna be craazy
It all boils down to gameplay really. and if it also looks amazing, count me in
Played the demo, was really fun and I still think "hey I'd wanna play this" from time to time.
Parry feels tight but not as tight as lies of P. Lies of P parrying felt almost impossible for many attacks from various bosses and enemies unless i had been practicing that same fight a lot. This game feels slightly more forgiving with timings. The dodge follow up is cool. The blink abilty is super nice. I just see so many ways people could chain one maneuver into another for smooth and flawless combat. In some games it's just bait the attack, smack, rinse and repeat. This game feels more reactive while still being aggressive. Parry and attack, maybe 3 in a row, then combo, then enemy does fatal, then we blink behind them, combo again, parry some more or even perfect dodge for that follow up strike. Eventually the enemy gets tired from the parries and we hurt them a lot. I just can't see any downside to the flow yet. When people get good at this game, it'll look very stylish and awesome.
Cut scenes are skippable. Press o and hold it I think.

After watching the reveal video that released 4 years ago as Project Eve I thought this looks different but it was not until the combat video was released a year later in 2021 showing the Stalker combat that really got me interested. It is the same stalker boss challenge in the demo but the hud and Eve looked a bit different.
The demo showed me that Stellar Blade is a competent game with beautiful art direction, immersive cityscape, challenging and stylised combat and superb music which happens to have sexy characters.
And the sexy characters suck.
Been rinse and repeating the demo since it came out. As a fan of Nier Automata it seems pretty solid based on what I’ve seen so far. Some sekiro vibes there as well but it’s definitely inspired by Nier Automata. Similar female driven story, apocalyptic world etc. Definitely on my play list this year.
I get the feeling the story is gonna be blah. Nothing like nier. The combat in stellar blade looks sluggish and clunky. It needs buttery smooth gameplay for me to care, combat is very important. Bloodborne, darksouls3 and sekiro all have better combat then stellar blade
Never played ther gacha game but those people that work on gacha usually center around female character and cosmetics for them god bless them and bless this game im ready love the demo btw ❤
I am so glad to hear that square and triangle are the attack buttons. I am so tired of games now wanting to "be souls-like" and have the attack buttons be shoulder buttons.... and you CANNOT change them. GOW and the sequel had my blood boiling with this, as after playing for hours, I would still suddenly start pushing square trying to do light attacks, because it's been ingrained into my brain for the last twenty years.
That's definitely an engaging title hahahaha!
I am sure people have said that you can skip cut scenes in NG+
Not to mention, it’s a video game character. The fact that so many people are debating the build of an avatar may need to speak with more real women.
I had seen trailers of this, I thought it was pc, now that I know it is available on PlayStation, and you have given it the OK, I probably will try it. Hopefully it’s not too difficult. I like a challenge, but also don’t like to be frustrated, hanging out at bosses for three days. Thank you.
I played the demo, and I’m always 100% for feminine sexy female characters in games or movies for fantasy escapism, But Stellar Blade isn’t my type of game, I like stuff like RE4 remake, Mass Effect trilogy, Halo1, Half-life 1&2, Bioshock 1&2 etc, But I think Stellar Blade is good for people that like that type of game.
RE4remake is incomparable to this piece of sh!t game. RE women are mostly beautiful without being nude for incels lol
I put it on my wish list last year soon as it was purchasable I bought it then played the demo
The easy mode argument is dumb. Its great that you feel you don't need it so does having a mode you and others wont normally use really take away from you experience?i don't engage with ultra hard modes but im glad its there for people who want it. On top of it there are new People just getting into the games for the first time and they will find a game even on easy challenging so nothing is lost for anyone. I know there's arguments to be made for certain games like metroid or zelda but even those games wouldn't be ruined for me because someone didn't play on my difficultly.
didn't mention that you can also have a hard mode with removing the costume and having only a skin suit.
Felt the same for the most part. Personally didnt think i was going to like it since losing interest in bayonette after completing the first one and not wanting to commit to another dark souls. This game seeming to have more lax but action packed gameplay, incredible music, gritty story, and a long lost PS2 development love has definitely earned some attention.
16:23 I agree 100% with the comment about the fairness fo the game. I have had my learning curve as well and I haven't at anypoint felt it was unfair or impossible. I have thoroughly enjoyed the demo and it's taking all my will power not to play it a 3rd time. I'm holding off for the release.
it needs to be franchised. stellar blade 10 sounds good.
10 hours playing the Demo. I was battling the boss fight in the extra section over and over to get it perfect. Also yes the models are sexy and I love it. But Disable DHCP in ps5 settings to have very responsive controls!
Hold up…you didn’t play RDR2 because of the cutscenes? 😮
The guy has a gaming UA-cam channel and hasn’t played rdr2 or god of war rag. That’s wild
Adding this to my list of PS5 games that I’ll play eventually. But I doubt I’ll watch someone play until I am ready to play. Just no time. Enjoying Helldivers 2 right now and neglecting Dragon's Dogma 2. And once Shadow of the Erdtree drops it’s all over.
The combat in this game is fantastic. The boss battle in the demo was everything I want in a boss battle. So much fun. Can’t wait
Thought you said you got chubbed almost immediately for a second
I really wanted to love this game, because of all the ties to Neir... but I just genuinely do not like the combat. And I tried a few times. But I can see the greatness in the game, so I 100% do recommend everyone try the demo
we loved Tomb Raider back in the day because we loved the cannons but also the game was badass. same with Resident Evil and Silent Hill.
It is actually a fun game. The high culture aesthetic aren’t enough alone for me to buy it for $70. Buying day one.
Passing on this for sure.
I think Easy Mode is only there to fulfill Sony's accessability rules.
Peak game and setting
I played the demo and really enjoyed it, I much preferred sekiro over dark souls, parrying looks way cooler than rolling around the floor. I will probably get this when it comes out.
Game is good. Need to find out of they want me to perfect parry and hold block or perfect parry and then dodge.
Neither. Parry all attacks unless they can’t be parried
The 'easy' mode is very similar to FF16 where it's for story & lore enjoyers. I think it can still be difficult if the player doesn't get a hang of the mechanics. FF16 version is more or less for non-action game players to get a feel of the combat & i think the easy mode in Stellar Blade will work similarly.
Thank you, you gave what IGN didn't bother to do, an honest review.

Personally I really like the demo, control's feel responsive and interesting world. Can't wait to dive into the full game. Respectfully, I have to disagree about the difficultly. I'm a gamer with a disability and firmly believe that what is difficult or easy depends on the capabilities of the player. Glad they included an accessibility section too. I did finally beat the bonus boss but it pushed my fine motor skills to the limit. Took me way more than 2 attempts. For me personally story mode and accessibility are big selling points. I say, as long as you enjoy it, then it's not a disservice. Can't wait for the 26th.
This just needs to come to PC
To answer the question in the title, yes.
Nier Automata is probably my favorite game ever, but I’m more than okay with a game reminding me of it. Stellar Blade is so sick, I’m genuinely looking forward to when this game comes out
Isn’t “fan service” also known as serving the customers, in other words - good business ??
Who in the hell skip the cutscenes in first playtrought?
Yes, yes, that's all very well, but tell us about the jiggle physics.
The game is worth it. I'd recommend it to anyone old enough to play +18 games who enjoy action games with a certain degree of strategy and exploration.
There is nothing wrong with fanservice as long as it doesn't undermine the plot, for example, having a very serious and powerful moment in the story immediately followed by a panty-shot or something.
Sexuality, at least in Western societies, tends to only be viewed negatively, especially when it comes to women. You either have side A saying that women need to cover up and 'be modest' or you have side B saying that any woman portrayed as attractive or sexual is strictly for the enjoyment of men. Very few people talk about how humans are naturally sexual and how sex positivity (the ideology working towards cultural acceptance, respect and normalization of our bodies, what we do, or don't do with them, the gender spectrum, and our personal orientation) has been largely beneficial to peoples' mental and physical health. Or how depicting sex and sexuality in artwork has been a part of human society for thousands of years. We should focus on acceptance and move towards positive portrayals and education rather than shaming people for their bodies or showing interest in a very natural part of life.
Also, the gameplay is actually pretty good.
I really do not understand why Gamers nowadays act like a bunch of uptight nuns. Fan service is not a bad thing. And I'm tired of people treating it like it is
Shift up put a lot of time and passion into this project and you can tell not only is the combat smooth and strategic is extremely satisfying as well, not to mention the physics in the game are top notch I've never seen hair made the way it is in this game. There's no telling how much time they actually put into just doing that one thing not to mention the music oh my God the music is so good and it matches the atmosphere of what's going on at that time
It's not "gamers nowadays", it's bait articles that exist to manufacture controversy, because they know frothing-mouthed lunatics on social media will see the lowest quality bait as some existential threat to their way of life (or way of waifu, I suppose).
In the real world, no one gives a damn. The so-called wokest people around are probably the most okay with this, considering it's literally the horniest demographic on the internet.
Gamers aren't acting like uptight nuns. The companies, Media and Studios are. If a gamer doesn't like it, it's his her own choice.
