    I’m starting to think Evie exposed all of Traceys secrets because she loved her and was truly her friend. She knew she was moving away and knew she’d ruined Traceys life. When she told adults about everything Tracey had did Tracey got help and was able to turn her life around which Evie knows she could never do herself. I think that’s why Evie tells Tracey she loves her before the confrontation so she knows even though it looks like betrayal it’s truly an act of love.

    i literally could go this movie so much so i will.
    !TW! SH, DRUGS, SEX
    This movie is literally perfect . It portrays substance misuse, sh, hypersexuality and just general growing up so well.
    Tracy was always depressed, we see this in the beginning when she reads her poem to her mum (Mel). She talks about being broken on the inside but no one being able to see visually. She never minded being babied by her mum a bit as she was just a "normal 13 year old". She was surrounded with people who also treated her like a child. It was only until Evie bought up her socks when she thought she had too "grow up" to be liked in school. We see this when she's throwing away all her toys and "childish things" and begs her mum to get her new "adult" clothes.
    When she starts talking to Evie, she feels she has to be up to her level. Like with getting a tongue piercing, doings drugs, having sex etc... But Evie never stops this. From when she steals that woman's purse to the end of the movie. Evie was always egging Tracy on. When Evie found out Tracy was self harming, she comforted her, without Tracy knowing. I think Evie and Tracy cared about each other a lot but they both just ended up on the wrong path to a point where one betrayal (Evie having to go home) was enough to make their friendship spiral.
    For much of the movie, Tracy is acting as a pseudo-adult, ditching her mother who she still needs very much in favour of a girl who has not been so well protected from the world. It’s a story chock full of conflict - arguments with Tracy’s mother, father, brother, teacher and former best friends.
    There is many parallels between the beginning and end of the movie. From example when Mel asks Tracy about her belly button piercing, Tracy starts mumbling about it and Mel says "speak up because i can't hear you" and then at the end of the movie where Melanie and Evie's guardian find Tracy's drugs Mel whispers "we found it" and then Tracy says "What? speak up mama cuz i can't hear you". Its very interesting how there are so many parallels as it shows how Tracy longed to be the same as she was.

    I know a lot of people get upset over Evie spilling everything Tracy did to Brooke and Mel, but honestly I think that was the most genuine and good thing Evie has ever done for Tracy. Tracy was a child, 13 years old is so young, and everything she was doing would have lead her down a far worse path then she was already on. Evie wasn't a good friend for most of the movie, and was the main reason Tracy got into the shit she did, but spilling what she did was the best decision there was.

    • @sobekmania
      @sobekmania Рік тому +13

      I 100% see your point that it was a good idea to spill the beans, but the issue with it is that Evie framed it to look like Tracy was the one who had the drugs and enabled the dangerous lifestyle, when Evie was responsible for the whole thing.

    This song is perfect for this movie because any wlw who ✨realized✨ during young adolescence completely understands why Tracy laid her life down to be run over by Evie. Understand, not condone. Style is Substance pointed the "homo eroticism" in the movie during his synopsis/discussion, so I went and watched the movie for myself, and yeah, I saw that subtext everywhere. Pretty much every LGBT person I know was in a vulnerable state for affection and attention after they found the crush that made them ✨realize✨, which is so unfortunate because many ✨realization✨ crushes are also extremely bad influences living high-risk lifestyles, just how Evie was to Tracy.

    SCORE! A two-fer. You just introduced me to some great new music I'll be downloading! Had seen the name TATU before but never listened until today, AND a movie that I absolutly have to see now! Already have a DVD on order. (I'm old school...I like hard copies for good movies, and I already know Thirteen is a keeper after watching the trailers) Glad UA-cam suggested your video, but I thank YOU for posting it!

    That moment when you feel old because you recognise the blonde girl as Evan Rachel Wood from Westworld, but have absolutely no idea wtf the people in the comments are talking about, because you weren't a teeny-bopper in the early 2000s, but already in your late teens/early 20s, and never watched the movie "Thirteen".
    For those of you born before the 90s, the movie in this clip is "Thirteen".

    As someone who had done most the things Evie and Tracey had done when I was 13 I absolutely love this movie because its a lot like what happened to me, from being influenced by others to start acting differently and how that got worse and caused a lot of problems like in school at home and with friends. Which is why it annoys me when people say “this movie isn’t accurate” or “13 year old don’t act like that” I understand that they haven’t been exposed to it but that doesn’t mean that others haven’t.

      I'd miss the euphoric sadness I get whenever I'm really sad at a song but it just circles back to some addictive numbness.
