This is in my opinion a cinematic masterpiece. I stand by that statement. Stallone s director knocked this out of the park. And Travolta truly never looked better than this. He was at the top of his game and lithe on his feet even more so than he was in Saturday Night Fever. In fact I liked This more. In my view It has more depth and the acting on all fronts was seriously on point 👌 👏 💯 percent! Incredible movie from an incredible era that as far as I'm concerned was the BEST.
It wasn't as unpredictable or dark as the original - that's why it probably never got the respect of the original. I like it but it certainly isn't Oscar material.
This movie was choreographed by my old dance teacher Dennon Rawles and his wife Sayber Sares. They were both great dancers. I can so see their style in this scene.❤
I love this scene, the movie, this song , and all the other song, it is definitely and will always be one of my favorite movies and songs, I never get tired of watching and listening to its songs….
In my opinion this is better than Saturday night fever and it is in my top 3 favourite travolta films tied with grease and two of a kind amazing film this
Just saw this movie last night on Tubi. Superb dance moves from all. Travolta was most impressive. I don’t think he was ever in better shape than in this film. Great movie despite the poor critical reviews. And it made a boatload of $$$$ at the box office besides.
John Travolta is the GREATEST dancer ever!!! He is so talented in so many ways!!!!! I could watch him dance, sing, and act every day. He just gets better with age!!!!!!!
Cynthia Rhodes playing Jackie deserved alot of credit being the supportive girlfriend and practicing the dance routine with him so he could get this part.
This movie was great and I loved the music. Great music and the 80s had some great movies and even the cartoons were better than what they have now and this is 2022. This movie came out in 1983. Next year this movie will be like 40 yrs old.
This was one of the most beautiful movie scenes. It is dangerous, exiting, dark, sexy and bittersweet all at once. John Trabolta and Cynthia Rhodes are both so awesome. A moment I have not forgotten to this day. I would've love to see sequels
Hey, don't get me wrong, I love Cynthia, and was totally for Tony and Jackie. And couldn't stand Laura, but please understand that I am a fan of finola because she's on General Hospital and we both were born on October 29th.
This movie is my all time favourite movie ever . It gets better and better as the years go on. I remember it didn’t get the greatest of reviews when it originally came out , it’ was ahead of its ime !!!! I know it word for word !! “ what are you all state pal? Yeah you want disability 😂😂😂😂
John Travolta is such an underrated entertainer!! He can sing, act and dance!! Not many people can do those 3 things and be really good at them like John!! Always been a fan of his! I loved him as Vinny Bobareno on Welcome Back Kotter!!
Hi, I watch the movie a few years ago, didn't know Travolta was such a great dancer, but why the character of Finola was so mean to him? Did she play with the character of John Travolta? She was the lover of the Director, wasn't she?? These are a few questions I got after watching the movie. Thank you.
This movie was made and written by Sly Stallone. He even makes a small cameo... when he bumps into Travolta walking on the street. Stallone is a multifaceted actor and has a great imagination to write his stories. These soundtracks are very similar to the Rocky movies pure 80's fire 💪
Am I the only one clamoring not just for the MOVIE version of this song (during the actual show), but even these 'demo' versions of the song that plays during these rehearsal scenes?
they're the same, just changed the reverb made them muddier on the high end to make it sound like they're playing it in the rehearsal studio which is a closed space with obviously limited audio equipment compared to the show room. Basic sound editing really.
Lone Raver Nah, the solo drums part last longer than the studio version. And the earlier rehearsal scenes sound more like early demo versions. Nor does the official version end on that echo of Tommy's voice like it does here.
Me too, watched it last night and really enjoyed it! Cynthia and Finola were the real stars for me though, they were superb, John just didn't have the 'charisma' of the first film, he seemed lost.
Eu considero a melhor cena, não só pela música e pela edição, mas pelo clima pesado que a antecede, com o diretor discutindo com o Tony Manero, e a tensão entre ele e a Laura, que teve que ser deixada de lado para criar a harmonia exigida na dança.
I love how witchy Finola Hughes eax in this role. Her character was certainly stuvk on herself and her ability, but that's what made her character work.
We had this movie on VHS. I’ve probably watched it 5,678,986, 265 times, lol. Staying Alive, Grease 2 and Girls just wanna have fun. My three fave movies of all time.
To me, "Staying Alive" is the greatest John Travolta film ever made. I also LOVED Finola Hughes and Cynthia Rhodes in his film. You can tell this was the greatest physical challenge of the three of their careers. I dare to say that this film is even way better than "Saturday Night Fever". I love Tony Manero in this sequel. This is also all-time the most underrated Sylvester Stallone film ever made. I wish just once... ONCE.... Stallone will finally talk about this film. Its cool that interviewers always ask him about Rocky and Rambo, but c'mon. Let's not forget "Staying Alive."
I remember the first time i saw this movie it was when it firstly aired back in 1980s. Now at my forties i still love it although i am not a dance movies fan. Music is awesome.
simple fantastic movie very very 70s but important in the live of the people i have 47 years and remember the year 1978 when enjoy this movie !!!! Fantastic......travolta
Damn. The dance is hot.... powerful and palpable. You can tell John is in control here. How I envy Miss Finola! I think many little girls, like me, pretended to be her when this first came out!
The thing is they adapted the dance to Travolta style who is not a "ballet" dancer but more a jazz dancer unlike of every extras in the movie. We can see the difference. But the music is amazing.
Yeah I want it too, the soundtrack version is much different version of it. So odd the song featured most in the movie has seemingly never been released.
Great time for dancing ballet jazz ! my sister used to jazz in the 70's and 80's professionally

Absolutely true

Then I have absolutely no respect for you as a film lover/reviewer.
Absolutely man
Funny, I just said it already with my other profile about 5 months ago and i didn‘t notice it 😂
Whoever choreographed this dance...hats off to them...
Why? The dancing is bland and uninspired.
This movie was choreographed by my old dance teacher Dennon Rawles and his wife Sayber Sares. They were both great dancers. I can so see their style in this scene.❤

Cynthia Rhodes is so BEAUTIFUL in this movie. 😊
I remember watching this on cable in the 80s as a kid. I'm 51 yrs old now. 🙃
We are the same age. 😊 and HBO is exactly where I saw it as well. Great movie😊 so you remember that cable box too huh. 😂😂😂
this Movie is Insane... love it
Loved the music, chemistry, sexual tension of this dance!!! How I miss the 80's!!
Me too
This movie needs a sequel with all the original casting, and needs to once again be directed by Sly and star both John Travolta and Finola Hughes.
Fiona off general hospital never knew she could dance like this. Travolta was hot
They’re all past their prime
I love this scene, the movie, this song , and all the other song, it is definitely and will always be one of my favorite movies and songs, I never get tired of watching and listening to its songs….
I have this movie on DVD 📀
Underrated movie! Love it and am a big Travolta fan. I rewind this dance scene and keep watching it, soo good!
In my opinion this is better than Saturday night fever and it is in my top 3 favourite travolta films tied with grease and two of a kind amazing film this

Can’t find this movie anywhere on streaming. Thank fuck!

Yep. This movie is now forty years old.
This movie is a masterpiece! Stallone and Travolta italian pride!. I watched This movie 100 Times i feel the same good vib each time.
This was one of the most beautiful movie scenes. It is dangerous, exiting, dark, sexy and bittersweet all at once. John Trabolta and Cynthia Rhodes are both so awesome. A moment I have not forgotten to this day. I would've love to see sequels
Travolta in this movie was ripped! this is the best he has
ever looked in any film and he was a straight up stud in this movie.I love stayin alive.
Trained by Mr Olympia, Franco Columbo, on the advice of Sly Stallone...
Nailed it.
And Stallone directed this AND made a Cameo appearance Good stuff, still!!!
Thanks to Stallone.
@@katc6812 Stallone also co-write the screenplay
You have to admit Travolta and Hughes had that chemistry and intensity!😀❤👍
Travolta and Rhodes the best
Yup, Cynthia fan!
No they didn’t.
Finola and John had Amazing CHEMISTRY in this movie..(Their scenes are so ELECTRIC)
His scenes with Cynthia were a little bit boring
Hey, don't get me wrong, I love Cynthia, and was totally for Tony and Jackie. And couldn't stand Laura, but please understand that I am a fan of finola because she's on General Hospital and we both were born on October 29th.
I was only 2 years old when they made this... Now I'm 33 and LOVE this tune. That was REAL SYNTHPOP MUSIC!
Get the staying alive songs they are all good
Amei este filme!
Ahead of its time in what way? You haven’t provided any evidence for that.
“It was so sweet. I was getting a cavity just listening to it.” 😊
John Travolta is such an underrated entertainer!! He can sing, act and dance!! Not many people can do those 3 things and be really good at them like John!! Always been a fan of his! I loved him as Vinny Bobareno on Welcome Back Kotter!!
Finola made a great villainess in this movie. But John's character kinda got what he deserved. Tony wasn't a nice guy, and he knew it!
Hi, I watch the movie a few years ago, didn't know Travolta was such a great dancer, but why the character of Finola was so mean to him? Did she play with the character of John Travolta? Super. Génial. Musique et. Danse. J'adore. Love. Love. ♥️👍👍🎶🎵♥️
This movie was made and written by Sly Stallone. He even makes a small cameo... when he bumps into Travolta walking on the street. Stallone is a multifaceted actor and has a great imagination to write his stories. These soundtracks are very similar to the Rocky movies pure 80's fire 💪
This song is good but I personally think Sly's baby brother Frank Stallone's song and video are what made this movie epic.
Their chemistry 🎉
Am I the only one clamoring not just for the MOVIE version of this song (during the actual show), but even these 'demo' versions of the song that plays during these rehearsal scenes?

These versions are WAY better than the album version . I'm searching for it too.
One of my favorite movies ever. Love this part where they danced.
Amo a John Travolta desde los 10 años. Hermoso, atlético, versátil. Esta película es genial.
I fucken love this movie!!!!!
Jane Canas, I couldn't blame you for even a second.
staying alive - the best of the best
I love this movie.
I love this movie 🍿🎥 I've watched it a bunch of times 🙌🏻👍💕
I like the FIRE in this song.
MELHOR CENA QUANDO ELE TIRA ESSA ENJOADA DO PALCO. ACHEI O MASSIMO
Just watched this move for the first time ever, LOVED IT
Me too, watched it last night and really enjoyed it! Cynthia and Finola were the real stars for me though, they were superb, John just didn't have the 'charisma' of the first film, he seemed lost.

I love how witchy Finola Hughes eax in this role. Her character was certainly stuvk on herself and her ability, but that's what made her character work.
NICE SOUNDSYSTEM.
Adorei o filme por causa das músicas.

Classic 80s! Classic Travolta! Classic music!
Love love love this movie
I always wonder if the cast of #GH realize what a talent they work with.
I love stayng alive
The underdog making his way to the top. Great!!!!
Just like Rocky but the dancing equivalent.
If you ever want to re-live the pinnacle of early-80s muscle/gayness this is a top-10. The music, the clothes, the hair, it's all there. ;-)
One of favorite movies and guilty pleasure
I love you John Travolta!!!!! ❤❤❤
People give props to John Travolta and Finola Hughes but Steve Inwood as Jesse I think really gives the film that added punch it needed.
this movie is so magic!!
thanks!
Magically shit.
This song is amazing loved this movie since I was a kid
Travolta was pretty damn hot in this movie.
When you are young of course you look good.
Incredible! Love this movie! ❤
We dance so close to the fire by Thomas Faragher
Laura had daggers coming out of her eyes when she was looking at Tony in the beginning but he showed her.
Donna B I love that part! #Classic #Iflookscouldkill
πανεμμορφος γεματος παυος
Absolutely love this film
Junho de 2020 Brazil , muito bom o filme e as músicas
Assisti essa cena agora à pouco na Tv.
Esse filme é um clássico.
Jonh travolta e um belo ator um astro top.
Que sujeito feio esse travolta hahaha
Cynthia Rhodes was the best in this..not just her dancing, but her acting and her SINGING! Talk about a triple threat!!!!❤
Non sono d'accordo...anche se canta bene fisicamente e' molto più affascinante Finola anche se interpreta il ruolo della "cattiva"
Excelente!
Good one!

Great movie!
I can never find this version of the song. It sounds better on the movie
Yeah I want it too, the soundtrack version is much different version of it. So odd the song featured most in the movie has seemingly never been released.
Yes this version is very sensual and sexy. 😀👍
