Neil, make me feel lucky that I don't live in the UK climate and moved to Sydney. You just don't see that level of rust over here on 90's cars! Nice to see they are being appreciated and saved. Great channel as well!
Labour of love man, looks good. My 1995 Spider V6 has had a bit of welding underneath and now I just don’t take her out in the bad months of the UK year (so that’s 9 months of storage!) but when I do, it feels great. So glad you are helping keep these beauties on the road.
I have removed some of the rubber plugs underneath the sills on my Mito.... One side had about half a cup of water inside. They are not going back..... Permanent drainage holes now ..... Will spray some oil in also.
Once it’s all dried, I’d get the big can of Bilt Hamber Dynax S50 with an extension wand and pump it full into the sills I do that on most my cars, best cavity wax I’ve used
Nice work as ever Owner must truly love his car to warranty that much metal, but I guess that’s why we are addicted to the marque! I also struggle to scrap Alfa’s, any other marque I don’t really care lol I just wished they’d sorted the cavity waxing and under floor protection out during this era as it’s the only place that rots through, very annoying
That’s the sort of job you do yourself out of love for the vehicle. Or if you owned an Alfa in the 80’s just like my guilietta and alfasud green cloverleaf.
Just watched this again Neil. I’ve got a lovely Proteo GTV I’m working through. It’s totally rust free. I’ve been changing loads of brackets etc off for stainless items from Totally Alfa. How on earth do you get the side skirt screws out from underneath? They just seem to turn!
Why why alfa make the underside zo bad thats wy I Hamerite all the underside of my 147, 2006 a inside sleeper so like NEW but wanne keep it like that ! Now Its mine and outside with Winter coming 😉😍💪👍 ps nice video good Job! .
Nice work, recently taken my Gtv to the local garage for an MOT (after 2 years of being stored) and the sills looked pretty rotten like that, what sort of price would the work in your video cost? If you don't mind me asking.
@@ItaliaAutos Thanks, I'm doing as much research as I can, this will be my first Alfa. So the Twin Spak is the one to go for, is it true they guzzle oil? But are definitely much better? Thanks
Under a grand for all this work? A proper rust repair? That’s nothing to keep this motor on the road. Like the original Subaru Impreza - lots of people won’t repair the rear end properly due to the low purchase price of the car. It’s one of the bad points of cheap cars in the UK. Both these vehicles deserve this kind of work. They will never be made again.

Very lucky indeed. It you guys do find it harder to get parts.

Thanks yeah good jobindo love these cars. Let's hope the customer is happy with it to.
Enjoying the rust repair videos a lot, you should do some more!
Don't get jobs this big to often. But I will do more. Thanks for watching.
Italia Autos I guess it’s for the best - less jobs means less rusty Alfas!
Brilliant work , very clever!

yeah all cars need decent drainage in the sill or you will have trouble later in its life.

Labour of love in action, brilliant vid thanks.
cheers, thanks for watching.

I replaced the sills last year on my 83 Sprint Green Cloverleaf, hours of work as you say done for the love!
Yeah its no quick task
Good work
Thanks
How much do you charge for under sealing a GTV? Looks like a cracking job.
depends on how bad it is normally around £90.
@@ItaliaAutos it's my dads grey V6 that you put a nee steering rack in :) may give you a shout when lock down is over!
How much does this amount of welding cost Neal?
You got me thinking about fixing my spare 145 which I know is nothing like that
rezaq1 about the value of the 145 u have for sale, very time consuming repair if you want it done right,
Might actually send you my car
Will email
rezaq1 ok. Email me direct don’t use eBay.

Drill em out.
What rust treatment/ inhibitor do you recommend?
Vactan is one I used.
Tough job, defiently one of those jobs I would be much happy paying someone else todo :-)
yeah it wasnt an easy one to do.

Hi, thanks if your looking for a quote please send me an email thanks.
Totally off-topic but which GTV engine, 2.0 TS or JTS? Thank you
Ts. Jts are shockingly unreliable

They can but most don't use thst much if we'll looked after
@@ItaliaAutos That's good news, very much appreciate your great advice. Love your channel, so educational.
Are 156s just as bad? Quite shocking. Mine looks ok but with the side skirts on you don’t know what hidden horrors are underneath🤔
156's is more floor pan and suspension turrets but they cal also suffer with rust there to.
@@ItaliaAutos yup 😢
Nice work
Shame he doesn’t reply to eBay messages with reference to parts
Sorry I’m well behind on my eBay messages this week. Maybe email me directly. I’ll reply to eBay message later today,
