    Super cool guitar and cool playing.... I am thinking to buy one... same colour. I had jem 77.... and I still use Dimarzio Evo 2 Bridge and Evo Neck on my ibanez prestige moghany body.... what difference you think between theese pickups and Utopia?

    Rockin my favorite setup, this pretty much what i'm planning on building next year. Black PIA, synergy vai and Friedman modules. Do you also use a cab with a poweramp? And what do you use for effects? thanks

      Cool! Yeah, I'm loving this setup! I'm setup for recording in the box only. All I need these days. So, just my two syn2 Synergy setup run direct for now. Works and records perfectly! May expand later on?
      I have two Syn2 units running in stereo. So, For instance, left side 1st Syn2 w/Vai module. Right side, other 2nd Syn2, Friedman HBE. I have a pedal board with a few boost and overdrive options and using Strymon delay and reverb through the effects loop in one of the synergy unites. The 2nd syn2 uses the Lexicon 480 and 224 that's in my Universal Audio x8 for effects.

    Great playing and what a stunning guitar! I have a question, my friend--would you happen to know the model number of those Gotoh tuners? I have Jem Premium and I'm thinking about doing the same. By the way, how are you liking the tuners?

    What do you mean it's thicker than that's stated in website? Did you measure the neck yourself too? How much thicker? Nice video!

    • @tonlarj37
      @tonlarj37  Рік тому +1

      The website gives the standard measurements. I tell you what they are in the video. I measured the neck with 3 different calipers. I give the measurements of my PIA neck in this video.
      And, Thanks!

    So did you sell the white Pia to fund this one or what was the reason for the sale?

    • @tonlarj37
      @tonlarj37  Рік тому

      As I stated in the video. I sold the white to get the black one. I just wanted the black one. I like the look of it better.

    Tony do those gold inlays pop in low light conditions or do they kinda blend in? Just curious

    I am so torn as I am interested in a Joe Satriana Signature like the Ibanez JS2480 Signature and the Steve Vai Pia. The problem is there is none to test or play around Tulsa Oklahoma area that I am aware of. So I dont know which would feel better in my hands and how these play. I went to Guitar center and played some 2700.00 Jackson and they said it was similar to to PIA. It was not bad the fret bars felt large on it and my pick kept hitting the middle pickup. So while I am learning towards the PIA I am a bit concerned about the middle pickup and the pick hitting it and the design on the fretboard if that will mess with me on my seeing the notes and being familiar with fretboard or I will get over that quickly as I get use to the guitar. I have big hands and like doing big chords as well like 7ths, 9ths 13ths. any info or thoughts about how the fretboard plays from say the JS2480 and the PIA. I need help since cannot play one before ordering. Also have to find a practice amp that is nice and has some effects. I am older no guitar hero in my dreams just hobby in my office for my own little pleasure.

      I have both sitting next to me at the moment. The JS2450 (Same neck as the JS2480) It feels like playing between a, Kiesel, and Music Man. Maybe some thinner neck Strats, too. It just feels bigger than the music man guitars I've played. (Cutless, Stingray, Luke) Similar vibe. IMO. I have bigger hands and the JS2450 feels really good. All-round comfortable. Can shred easily... even with the rounder fretboard radius. I have a video reviewing it. You can get better stratty tone from the JS splits and neck pickup.
      The PIA has a comfortable thin wide neck. Designed for fast playing. Plenty of real-estate. More so on the upper frets than the JS. I lower the middle pickup a little and don't have any problems hitting it or with tone. The pickups sound great! I've done several videos with the White one. It dose't feel like a Jackson or Charvel. Try and find an Ibanez RG. It will be closer to that. Just a little bigger feeling.
      I don't know which is my favorite? They are two really different feeling guitars. I lean towards the JS, but then I pick up the PIA and get lost in the world of shredding. lol It is so fun to play.
      Hope this helps. I am planning to do a video comparing the two. - At some point.

      Also, I recently played a EVH Iconic combo amp that sounded really good. Might want to try that?

    Why locking tuners on a floyd/edge?

    • @tonlarj37
      @tonlarj37  Рік тому +2

      Way easier to change strings. Especially, on a Floyd style guitar. Also, I sometimes unlock the bass side clamp for my drop tuning. I’ll leave it that way for whatever song I’m using the tuning for. It keeps it locked I place when not clamped. The guitar is more versatile.

    Fantastic playing, that guitar looks awesome too. How do you find the tuning stability on this? I have a few Jems and they're quite stable with trem use but could be better. Would look great with a black pearloid pickguard
