Really makes you think.. warm, dry, a small kitchen, bathroom, and a comfortable bed. How much do we actually need?
Exactly! This small space has everything we need, and is enjoyable.
Would have to find a cheap piece of land🤔
@@ravenone6255 good thing America has no shortage of cheap land lol
Sofa? Or Comfy Chair?
Well. Good point. I like it minimalist. The tool chest takes a lot of room and adding a comfy chair would take even more space, but it would be nice. I would need to get a small one. When I need comfy time, I go for the bed.
How did so many people thumbs down this video? Amazing fully equipped container home! Perfect!
This is exactly the same layout of my small apartment in Bern, Switzerland. I would add a motorcycle lift and an engine stand and call it a day. Phenomenal work!
Nice!!!
Thanks for the PDF. You are helping a lot of people think and even get started.
Thank you! 😊👍
The layout is amazing, it certainly has inspired me.
Thanks!
It is like a modern “shotgun” house. I really like it!
I am seriously wanting to downsize and go minimalist as well. I'm tired of the clutter and upkeep.
I love this idea and I will have to look into it further.
Cool. See much more details on my build from the link in the video description.
This would be great for helping the homeless. 👍
Jonas Rosenven first of all, not true, not most people..
Second..entirely their fault in most cases, wtf are u talking about?? People not saving any money is my fault?? Government? Corporations? 😂
Not being their fault if you count stupidity as being mostly hereditary.. then ok, not their fault.. but I don’t think that is what you meant.
And addiction should be number one on your list, not last. By far the most common reason.
Jonas Rosenven also, your post doesn’t make any sense as reply to OP.
OP didn’t mention with one word why homelessness happens.
I guess one post is missing, sorry..
I think college kids and newly weds should be all over this. You could live in something like this for very low cost. Ps graduate from college without debt. Or if your working live here for 5 yrs , save a bunch of money toward your future!
This is absolutely the “Best” build. Minimal which makes it look larger. I like that you kept the toilet separate. Everything you need 💯
Thanks Tami!
In my opinion one of the best looking container homes,a cladding from the outside would have been even better
Definitely one of the best container builds i have ever seen in my life. Efficient, thought-out, clean .. i love it man. Great job!
Thanks man!
I've watched many...some Tiny Houses are just too much like a regular house...with a bathtub, full size kitchen/big, fam.size fridge and freezer/full size oven...for my needs, this one is The Best Size/Layout Ever!...with bedroom on a ground level!...I would never go with a bedroom up-the-stairs...ABSOLUTELY STUNNING!...Thank you so much, for sharing your design with us!...Enjoy!...
Glad you like it. I try to keep it simple and finctional. I did not want to disguise a shipping container into a normal house. It has the look of a container and I like that. If you have not already seen it, there is a link in the video description with all the details of how I built it.
Thanks!
i thought I wasn't going to like the house, when I initially saw the thumbnail; however, I was pleasantly surprised. Pretty cool!
Cool. Glad you liked it!
Tomas this is so cool-and you don’t pretend, you just tell it like it is!
Thanks!!!
We don’t need nothing better than that beautiful container to live
Noticed the toolbox first when he went in. My man! You have your priorities right! 👊👍
You got it!
Thanks!
The location is amazing with those moss dripping trees. Love it.
The simplicity of the container unit keeps it a sought after by many, for it has features that are defined and tested for those curious minded. Be established and be for a lifetime.
This is the best video of a container home I have seen in the many years that I have been researching my own future project. Thank you for sharing this!
Make sure you check the link in the description. It details every step of the construction.
I’ve watched tons of shipping container videos the past 4 or 5 years. I just found my favorite. Yours has the exact appearance and functionality I’m looking for. Thanks for posting your excellent home.
Cool. Thanks!
Love it, although I'd have to have a comfy sofa if I lived there.
Just thought maybe building a roof deck with some balustrading and outdoor furniture might be cool as it would feel like being in a treehouse up there.
Agree. Definitely a tree house feeling from the roof. I replaced the sofa with a big tool box! 😆
I totally agree with you, JMK. I'm sure it would be easy enough to have a smaller shipping container added to this one that could be the work area/storage for any maintenance/hobby needs. I do agree with keeping it small & simple, or otherwise, an actual House would be the way to go. But after owning a couple houses and trapped in a mortgage, this is a very appealing way to live.
Love the walk through bathroom idea 😀👍👍👍👍
Haha! Thanks!
I like that Toilet "George Costanza "It's like a jet engine"
Lol!!!
Minimalist? What else do you need? Well thought out, beautifully executed...great job.
Wow, this is so beautiful! I'm a single retired woman and stuck in a lease at my horrible apartment and do not want to renew the lease any more. Almost my money goes to rent and have not been able to save one dime and I am hoping and praying I can find a very very cheap she-shed that someone can let me live in (with my cat) when I'm finally out of my apartment so I can start to save my money. Of course I'm going to have to pay through the nose to hire a builder to do everything as I have RA plus don't have any building skills or tools and no family to help. I also don't have have any land either which is leaving me very discouraged right now.
I sincerely wish you the best!
@@tomaskryan Thank you.
Keep your dream alive. Step by step u can make it happen.dont give up and get out of da apt as soon as possible. Rent is a rip off. Praying for u!
Hope, someone will help you to make your dream true❤️
I really like the idea of kitchen and vanity, as he said not much space required by guys for the kitchen pretty minimalist and amazing design, allowing much space in living area.
Right on!
Thank you Thomas. I read entire pdf file on link. Very very good. I start building mine soon and this clip by far is the best. I hope I can build my as nice as yours. If u ever like to come visit Cal I’ll be happy to compensate your time to supervise my project. Thanks again and best of luck to you🙏
That is great! I wish you a lot of fun building your house. I’ll be glad to answer your questions. Just le me know.
You’ll probably know as much as I do soon! 👍
@@tomaskryan
Thank you Thomas
Awesome Tomas - You should make a deck - and paint the exterior black
probably want white sun reflecting paint if its in florida and hot
Agree. Black would be nice, or even dark grey. The only concern is the hot Florida sun. Maybe I will try it when it needs a fresh coat, and that is soon!
Great minimal living. Containers are awesome homes. Great job!
Thanks Cindy!
I love that utility/services block idea. Not seen that before and with all the thought I have put into a small home for myself, have not thought of this - it's a great idea.
Thanks!
It was the most compact design I could think of. Instead of creating a box you go into (like a regular bathroom) all the services are accessible from the periphery of the service block, and that is also the small hallways on each side.
Awesome build!. Downloaded the plans for a future build on the container in my backyard. Love the openness and utility.
Something to consider in the future is adding a second metal roof, slightly larger and on an angle, air-gapped about a foot or two. It will cut down significantly on the amount of cooling needed in summer. Also consider a separate dehumidifier, piped directly into your grey water, to run during the winter to combat the humidity.
Good points! I already got a dehumidifier and that helps. The second roof would sure work. Thanks for the good feedback!
I'm confused, why did I buy my 4 bedroom 3 bath, 2 floor house. I love this shipping container home better. Thanks. Jennifer. Decatur GA USA
Haha. Exactly!
@@tomaskryan To be fair, if you have a family then this type of home is possibly untenable. If you're single and childless, however...yeah, arguably the house could be torn down and turned into two smaller low income homes, for example.
Yep. Exactly!
@@culo9999 This would be an amazing guest house!
Betterman maybe selling the house would be more obvious solution? 😂
This is by far my favorite build. I love what you did with the space and how it’s layed out.
Thanks!!
WOW ... Cool!! Everything, but especially the layout and the style!
Thanks!
Where in Florida? I live in Miami and have been given permission to build one in my brothers backyard since my house burned down. I have 14 years of working experience with wood, steel, electrical, plumbing, roofing, window & door install, and I also have all the tools needed to build a shipping container home and of course the most important part is that I have a Home Depot 5 minutes away from here 😁.
Nice!
We’re just outside of Sarasota.
Home Depot 5 minutes away is a blessing. Haha!
Have fun, you’ll probably build that in half the time it took me!
😁👍
Lucky you!
Look up JP container homes, they will get you started and help along the way, they’re in Florida by you
@@tomaskryan I'm moving to that area later this year and can't wait to build. I know the area is very relaxed when it comes to zoning, but were you required to have an architect or engineered stamped plans? It's seems unnecessary since it is a container, but I would really like to know. Thanks in advance
We are in a farm land type zoning. Neighbors have a lot of stuff on their peoperties. So it was simple with the county.
Just great, that's how I thought about what my house in Florida would be like, thanks for showing !!!! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
For the living room and added rooms and more space, add a second container. Otherwise it’s an awe’s some build! Thanks for sharing.
Really brilliant. Very pleasant and functional space.
Thank you!
Best setup I have seen. What more could a guy need.
Very detailed and informative; one of the best Container Homes I've seen so far.
Been looking at doing this for about 3 yrs.
Thanks
Cool. Thanks!
Nice work Tomas! loving the functional, yet minimalist design.
Thanks!
Besides the nice looking shipping container. The location looks amazing 👏
Awesome home sir. That's pretty much all I need. Instead of work station for me a small couch and tv. Call it a day
Sounds good to me!
Love it. But ya lost me at the shower sharing air with the rest of the house. A hot shower...and BAM humid house. Nice house GSP.
Merci beaucoup Tomas! Au début je trouvais ton accent m'était familier. Ensuite, j'ai compris avec ton LinkeIn! Super bon projet, tu m'inspires de belles idées. Bonne continuation
Merci Alfred! 👍
I love it, although the deco is not really cosy enough for my taste, but if it's supposed to be a functionnal place, a work envirionment I understand. The big drawback would be the bed with the head facing the entrance and the bedroom not isolated from the room... where is the door thooo! It actually gave me shivers when I saw it :D Y'know, fen shui and all the jazz... it kinda means something to me. Anyhow, this is a great accomplishment you did there. So, kudos!
Yes, very functional design for work environment. Not for everyone but it fits my lifestyle!
Thanks!
You are my Heroe! It is so inspiring. I watch the video over and over again. My dreamhome. Thanks so much for sharing the PDF, you make the world so much better with sharing such valuable information. Someday I will also build such a house (but living in Europe, it is hard to find a property where you can build your own house, due to massive regulations)... Thanks again and all the best wishes!
You are welcome!
Thank you so much!
I wish you to build your dream home someday!
Thanks Sir!!! Christmas present 🎁!!!you help a lot off people and also helped me.thanks.from México!
You are welcome!
Loved the tool cutlery - awesome space!
Haha. You noticed!
Thanks!
Georgeous and generous. Thank you.
This is amazing, exactly what I was looking for. Love the design and layout.
Absolutely brilliant design.
Thank you!!!
@@tomaskryan You're very welcome.
Nice! Planning to build my tiny house soon... this is inspiring
Cool. Have fun building it!
This home is absolutely amazing
The one thing I would need is comfy couch or chair! But as he said, he has all that he needs! And it sounds like he has other locations to live, as well.
You got it right!
Dang all those awards you have on the wall deserve honorable mention.
Funny you noticed that. I did work on many NASA projects. A few of those awards are actually fun stuff. Thanks!
This really looks great. I really like the simplicity and practicality of this. Awesome!
Now that I’ve checked out your site, I’m even more impressed. Thank you so much for doing such a great job and sharing what you learned. Too many “tiny houses” are just over priced mini houses that normal people either can’t afford or do themselves. Thanks again!
@@clacicle thanks!
Yeah, I know. I kept the container simple and practical while keeping an enjoyable space.
you can add two more container on both sides and boom 4 more room, amazing
That tree is fabulous
Totally! Huge Oak tree right next to the big window. Sometimes I just sit and look at it with all the life it carries.
This is damn near perfect. I think the one thing I would miss is an actual cooktop/stove as I like to cook. But otherwise, very efficient and cozy! Nice job.
Thanks Mike!
Okay, i could really live in something like that, all you need and cosy! Awesome!
Thanks for sharing, you've helped me with my own project
Cool. That’s great!
Dude i saw you're guide on your site before i even knew you had a youtube page. Your container home is a really solid build.
Cool. Thanks man!
Very impressive!!! Congratulations, good. Very good.job!!!!
Thanks!!!
Wow I really love it! Hope i can build a tiny house like yours someday, thank you for sharing, greetings from🇲🇨
Glad you enjoyed, and maybe it will inspire you to build you dream house!
Like the lay out very much. Thank you very much for sharing.
It very much reminds me of German homes/apartments. Love it! Thanks for sharing. ...PeAcE
Thanks. PeAcE to you!
I am planning to sell my house and live in this kind of accommodation very soon. I love your design probably will copy this but add a deck infront.
Nice! A deck is a good idea!
AWESOME HOME!!! GOOD JOB!!!! Thanks for sharing!!!!
Awesome home! 👍😎 Nice use of space. 🤠
Thanks!
very clean design and original set up,thanks for sharing
Nice and clean house!!! 😎
Great job doing this house
Thanks!
I liked your tiny house.
Thanks!
NOW THATS WHAT IAM TALKING ABOUT .......I LOVE IT ..
Awesome sea container home. I used to live in Tampa. Depending on your location in FL. You will want to put hurricane straps on your container. Unless you have anchor bolts that I missed.
Yeah. Good point! Thanks!
My husband and I are planning to do that it really nice♥️
Cool.
Thanks!
Very cool. Minimalist innovation -- love it.
Nice Skylight would make this my ideal with a deck as mentioned previously so i can get a grill!
Nice!
Like your simple foundation. No need to over build. Just add home depot foundation blocks to each of the 4 support corners, level and you're done! I assume it's strong enough considering containers are stacked multiple units vertically. Anyone know otherwise, please chime in.
5 years like that and it has not moved.
Resting on Florida sandy soil.
I am very happy with how I have done this.
It cost me $30.
@@tomaskryan Thanks Tomas! I'm hoping to copy your foundation on my rock hard central texas soil with just a 20ft container. It's not delievered yet, so I was hoping you could suggest how I can mimic your base/foundation with as minimal effort as possible. Two days to dig under for a jack lift sounds frightening to little old me. Any other suggestions for me before this container is delivered? Thanks in advance.
@@beckyshelton1 it should really take an hour or so to place the blocks. What is tricky was to jack up the container and put the four corners under, position and height. Be very careful for the container not to fall sideways once jacked. I had many pieces of beams placed under as backup to the bottle jack in case it failed. It feels this whole thing should take an hour or so but it turns out much longer. Good luck!
So, do you think there is no easier way to mimic the blocks you used but with less effort and time? I was hoping you had a better solution to reach the same end after you saw how long it took? Thank you.
@@beckyshelton1 hard to say. Maybe it will take you just a few hours. To set up the jack, I had to dig a hole. If the container is already away from the groud, it could be much quicker.
great tinyhouse but a nice carpet near the desk would make it way more cozy
True!
Glad I come across your site, really good work, now I am thinking about building one for myself, thank for the step by step instructions.
Cool.
Welcome!!
What a beautiful location and a great home.
Thanks!
This is awesome
I really love this
That's living life on your terms, as it should be for all humans 👍😀
Greetings from Trinidad and Tobago
Awesome. Thanks!
Wow, you should be proud of yourself my friend very cool, I like this idea of compact living abroad, how nice would it be to have something like this in multiple countries. You have given me some great ideas, enjoy, and thank you for sharing. Bobby.
You are welcome, and thank you!
Man!! You Nailed it!!
Job well done brother.
Thanks man!
I saw a great freestanding Roof above a Container House in Costa Rica. Vertical iron water pipe outside around the Container was supporting a metal curved arch (for rain runoff). Airspace all around between the Container and this 2nd roof. If you can picture it. Wish you could see it.
That’s cool. I might do something like that at one point. Thanks!
nice and compact maybe something like that in thailand thanks for the idea JJ
THANKS A LOT FOR YOUR PDF...
BLESS YOU FROM ITALY ❤️🇮🇹💐
Welcome!!
Brilliant absolutely genius 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
Thanks Marlene!
Best one I've seen. I would need a nice soft chair to hang out on and maybe a deck or block patio but besides that, . good job!!!! well thought out.
Thanks!
I love it the simple things in life matters
What an awesome build and living space. Love the name "the hab", if you get yourself an off road 4x4 thinking of maybe calling it the Watneymobile? Haha.
Haha. Good one!!!
💛 great job
Thanks!
Wow this is exceptional. Thanks for sharing this - reading through your Medium piece now. So bright and love your creative storage ideas. I want one of these homes now!
Nice! Thanks!
Very nice it has all you need for a complete home. Good job 👍🏽
You did a fantastic and wonderful job!
That turned out really cool man.
Thanks man!
beautiful...very nicely done...
Thanks Laquisha!
I love it!! not cookie cutter homes
