i think its more becuase he started very early and there was many less people on youtube its much easier to explode today then in the past and pewdiepie had been on and off for the last few years
There was less people on youtube back then, before all the kids channels excluding Cocomelon reached 100m, PewDiePie was actually the fastest channel to reach 100m

It doesn’t make sense, some of the channels at the start started later, and some very early so the later ones get more subscribers of course because of how UA-cam grows in amount of channels. But If it made more sense like PewDiePie makes gaming videos you say, he would get popular really fast. Look at Vlad and Niki for example, they started late, but grew fast because of how many people are in youtube nowadays. But it is about the time they start, if they start in 2024. Mrbeast would do AMAZING and get #1 Really Fast. Sadly for over channels like, PEWDIEPIE and 5 minute crafts . They would barely grow because of how it works now. If we are talking about 2017 PewDiePie would rock and T-Series also. Hope you understand.
