Mark’s particular phrasing has, like Jimmy Raney’s, always been immediately recognizable to me & I love it.
New thanks me too How so? I listen to everyone from Breau Hellecasters Kenny Burrell Albert Lee Lorne Lofsky Vai Gatton Martino Metheney and a thousand others and never came across this great guitarist
I have just seen and heard this tremendous guitarist for the first time, how is it possible that he is nothing known? . I've never seen it on lists or associated with anyone, it's amazing. What a tone and what phrasing!
Most sophisticated lines of any jazz guitarist I've heard! FANTASTIC!
I just learned about Mark Elf after I watched a jam session with him and George Benson, should have been aware of him, such a masterful player!
