This song is like a hidden REM GEM. Its a brilliant song that has gone pretty much unnoticed in the world and i dont know why. I think the lyrics and the way it syncs up with the guitar riffs is just amazing. Wonderful song. Michael's voice on this song is really touching too. He sounds very sincere here.

This song is my favourite song of all time. I've got 11,000 odd on my iPod, there are hundreds that I like that I don't have, but this one. This is the one!! Nothing will ever replace it. I can't ever listen to it with other people, I have to be alone when I listen to it, it's too personal. Thanks for posting it.

I've been an R.E.M. fan for 28 years and I like this song, but it isn't about love--at least not real love. Michale Stipe has been pretty open about it. He mentioned how almost all of the lines start with "I" and how it's a really selfish song. It's in the The One I Love club.
I absolutely take your point Rebecca, but I still believe that it can be interpreted as a traditional love song. This is one of my favourite R.E.M. songs so I naturally played it for my fiancé when we first met over 5 years ago...and now it will be the song that accompanies our first dance at our wedding in 2 days time! So regardless of Stipe’s original intention with the lyric, it certainly had a special meaning for me.

This is a Mike Mills song not Stipes - they both said so in an interview after Thom Yorke chose to sing it as a cover many many years ago.
