- Here is a video showcasing a full drum kit and individual mic'ed drums through a variety of programs on the 500 series reissue of AMS NEVE's RMX16. This is a fantastic unit and I recommend it to any one that needs the extra sauce on their tracks.
This is straight up the best sounding drum demo channel I've ever come across. Props brazzy

This is how 80s analog but gated drums should sound. And a groovy swingy groove you play there, love those 16 note fills. Lovely.

The Nonlin 2 program. Basically if you want the classic gated reverb, particularly Phil Collins, as it was based on the little discovery he and Peter Gabriel along with Hugh Padgham did during PG3 when the talk back mic feature was still on, and they rewired the console to capture the sound for recording and thus leading into, "Intruder", and most famously, "In The Air Tonight". Phil and Peter eventually used the AMS Reverb when that got released to reproduce the gated reverb more easily later on throughout the 80's.
Do you dial in for each part and print it out? Or could you just send your full drums into one aux channel linked to this device?
It depends on what I’m doing. But I have this setup on an insert on my patch bay, then I can either send to it in real-time and print as I go - or, chose later and print it down.

I've heard very mixed opinions on the Midas 500 series racks, what's your take on it?
Hi! Thanks very much. I haven’t had any issues with it aside from fit. Meaning, I can’t get the last slot to fit a module for some reason when all the other slots are full. In terms of power etc. I haven’t noticed a difference.

Hey! Thanks so much. I’m sending my Kick, Snare and Toms to the Non Lin2 setting (100% Wet) from the Pro Tools sends. I have the RMX16 as an hardware insert on an AUX and then I’m printing the AUX to an Audio Channel in real time while I play. My reverb blends are controlled using the send faders. What you’re hearing in the final product is my dry drums blended with the RMX16 print. Hope that helps.

Peter Gabriel used to be fond of those "Nonlin" sounds.
And then later Phil Collins!
Peter, Phil, and Huge Pagham invented the NonLin sound using an SSL, the stone room at Townhouse, the console’s talkback mic, and rare odd microphone up on the ceiling in the corner. I imagine having it as a preset on the RMX was really convenient!
I really wish there was a full dry sound for comparison, or did i miss it?
The examples start dry as I dial in the percentages.
