Making the Asurans bad guys was a waste of a new faction. They could've been a valued ally against the Wraith. Plus it would've given Earth access to the means for more ships
It would have been cool if in that scenario, the Asurans heard of the milkyway galaxy replicators, and decided to fight the less superior creation of the ancients, since it was a mockery of their complexity. Or if the asurans fought the ori, because they were like the ancients that enslaved them, but using the power of the ancients to subjugate, and maybe tried it on the asurans
they didn't sacrifice it, they couldn't do anything to save it. It wasn't ready for combat but the had no choice, the Daedalus would never have been able to kill 2 hives by itself.
Correction to your corrections: That's Aurora Class Battleship . Ancient ship which you've seen at the beggining is the luxury version of ACB the Hippaforalkus. Asurans ( replicators ) built number of ACB's but with the older Ancient knowledge so they weren't as powerfull as for instance Orion was,
