Working backwards, at the end that's a beautifully atmospheric diorama paintjob achieved with a simple succession of shockingly doable processes. They're very close to my own unit painting approach and I haven't seen it used better to establish a feel, a lost corner of a war long drained of all blood and tears, the figures are almost see-through in their shared desaturated palette. I cried tears of joy (nearly) when the scalecolour artist tubes came out, I'm still using mine just for a texturing and detail pass after the oils, they're ideal for it and not really much else. I paint with these techniques but trying to make my boys style look like everyone else's, I really need to paint some 75mm just to see what I can do with mood and effect. Inspiring, beautiful work Alex, thank you
These turnip28 setting is weirdly fitting to your style of painting. 😅 Awesome work. Everytime you release a video I get an instant motivation boost - and for some strange reason the desire to make some earl grey tea and listen to a vinyl record of some philharmonic version of lord of the rings songs o.O I really appreciate your different approach to hobby videos here on youtube. It's a highlight every time. Thank you.

Fantastic video! What a great way to support Max and Turnip, and show off some of the new bits in the game. You honour the spirit of the game as well by kit bashing a space marine into the setting.
Absolutely love the paint scheme. The muted colours and grungy, grubby look are perfect for the setting and could easily be used for other games set in grimdark settings. Great job!

What a great holiday video to help digest all the turkey and stuffing...my holiday I guess, not yours. Another great one. Very cool. I really like these kit bashy videos! Turnip Space marines....who'd have thought ? I love the weirdness all the Turnip28 stuff. Thanks Alex!

Outstanding. Properly Turnip, as all things should be. A while back, I had the notion of using a Turnip28 army as Imperial Guard. With the idea being it's a regiment from a planet taken over by a colossal root. Basically, what if Cyst was on a planet in the 40K universe, and the Imperium found it. For whatever reason, Imperial authorities decided to keep it all as-is, but press-ganging soldiers into service in the Emperor's inexhaustible armies. Turns out if you give the disgusting mutants real food, and in minor abundance, they'll follow you to hell itself (or at least the Warp). Though they don't accept any other food except root vegetables. Their stomachs and tongues can't handle anything else, after lives of feasting on their world's native Root. Still, they're a lot more lucid when eating something that doesn't give them hallucinations. Maybe...TOO lucid. They start crying or becoming violent. Maybe sprinkling in some of their native root into their rations is necessary after all... Less than ideal, of course. And basically every other Imperial force has a tendency to attack the weirdos on sight. But there is Only War, and the Emperor's war machine needs grist for the mill.
Yes!! Turnip28 I love it, its so much fun, quirly and full of character and its so open ended it is just perfect for people who want to be super creative. I am going to back the KS before it ends (just dont want to over spend this Christmas going to make sure I get stuff for my nieces and fiance before spoiling myself. I really hope more people will turn to Turnip28 it has 42.5k Euro at the time I am commenting. Max deserves this to do so well great lad.
Great video Alex! Really sparked my interest with this one and your grimmdark style always inspires! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. (I know it isn't celebrated there, but everyone should have a day to be thankful for their life and those in it.)
Alex, another brilliant video but I’m wondering if you’ve spent too much time in your city bunker? The girdle thing? Driving a horse? 😉Meet me in Montana at the ranch and I’ll acquaint you to reins and give you a lesson in riding a horse. 🐎. Oh yes, thanks for this Thanksgiving treat. I’m thankful for 52 Miniatures. 🙏
Turnip is great been around for 3 years or so but it gets jumps every now and then the current ks just came out today and has 42.5k Euro raised so far. I hope it grows alot it is amazing so much creativity in it not just from modeling and painting side of things.
@@yagsipcc287 Thank you for your answer. Honestly, with the number or tabletop and wargames, it's difficult to follow everything. I still have a ton of Warhammer 40k miniatures (various factions for my own pleasure of painter), but that doesn't mean that I'm not curious about other wonders!
@@klug5916 no worries there are dozens of wargames out every month tbh. One series I love it's a solo/co op skirmish game called Forbidden Psalm (that is the main one) there are different themed ones all work off again theme/setting using Mork Bork like rules. Many different missions and also come with ways to make your own as well. I love them. Rules light, random character creation's or put stats into stuff to keep it more even it's sort of a very light Mordhim I know I spelt it wrong ha
@@yagsipcc287 Well, it sounds very nice. The very few times I have the possibilty to actually play, I use the One Page Rule system. Simple, easy, fast. But yes, dozens of interesting games, not even speaking about tabletop RPG...
Alex, the poor marine was unfortunate to board a derelicte "not as in zoolander mind you",whereupon he noticed a glowing room with something growing from the walls, he then woke up in a new home, the home you made for him. Poor marine, he misses the emporer, and has lost his wallet photo of him, for shame. Anyway as always smashing work!😀

The the final result! You're not wrong, the ultra-matte finish 100% compliments the vibe.

So awesome Alex. The kitbashed spacemarine look great, the turnip models are amazing, and rhe paintjob is fantastic!
A turnip marine, you say? Baldrick would be proud.

I love the idea of a low saturation and high contrast approach, and this piece epitomizes that. I love it.

Great result! The atmosphere is so we'll executed
Outstanding as usual. Thank you for sharing.
The colors are gorgeous! Good work!
I love the paint job on the horse!
Awesome paint job ! All hail the Root !

Fantastic effect, Alex. The vignette is perfection, thanks for making it.
Incredible mashup!!! The paint scheme completes the diorama perfectly 😊

Excellent painting, Alex.
Very happy to see an addition this Playlist ✨

Great workflow, Alex. The end result is cool as a cucumber.
Beautiful video! So many of the things you do so well. Amazing shots, great narrative, good flow, good advice, and fascinating throughout
Another wonderful diorama!
Sweet glad you did a Turnip28 video my friend. Hope your Thursday is good.
Spectacular! Love the colour scheme, and now I want to convert some old space marines into something low tech 🙂 Hello bits box...
Top stuff mate! Great idea and very well executed!
super inspiring in terms of filming and miniature painting, 2o minutes flew by a pleasure to watch :)
Beautiful work

Alex those turnips are so grim and so dark!!!
I really like it.

It came out great!
Fantastic work!

excellent, love these crossovers although I did think you might go for an exploding head on the horseman.
As someone who lives at a comparable latitude, I can decisively say it is NOT early morning in opening of the video.

My video next week is Turnip Related cannot wait to watch this video 🙌
It's a pretty diorama and the game seems to be perfect to me, I have to check it out
52 miniatures for 52 miniature games
Enjoy.

Nice video and cool diorama! I was wondering what respirator mask you are using?
Awesome diorama! Not a single tuft in sight though ;D definitely achieved the vibe without them anyway!
did you film it on DJI Osmo Pocket 3? At least, part of it
Turnip!
Talented, as always. However, unless you're a samurai, head on to the barber and get you a haircut.

... Mud for the mud god?
Wth would you convert something as pricey as a Spacemarine into something else?
