    That sand is so tough on gear! I wish Zpacks, and others, offered heavier duty options because that's where I do a ton of my backpacking. Love the video!

      hey! thanks for watching :)
      Jarhead really enjoys the white ultraweave material on his Palante Desert Pack! The burliness of it really held up throughout the entire 800+ miles, and he does NOT baby his gear, haha.

      @@dirtyjarhikes Sorry I meant heavier duty zippers. I don't know why I omitted that. I have a desert pack with the same material and it is great! I have another pack with lighter duty Ultra 100 that I lowered down a gnarly 80' rock face and there was no damage to the pack material at all. Seriously tough stuff! Looking forward to your other videos.

      Oh ok yep. Totally agree about the zippers! There’d be much more peace of mind for probably a very negligible amount of extra g’s.
      Have you done a lot of hiking in Utah?

      @@dirtyjarhikes Yes, I live in SLC and I go down twice a year for 9 or 10 days at a time for the past 15 years or more. You two probably beat my total in 1 hike though haha!

    Do you know how the 2p zpacks quilt compares to the enlightened equipment? Seems 10oz lighter for the same price and temp rating… also do you know of any 2p quilts with a zipper to make 2, 1p quilts?

    • @dirtyjarhikes
      @dirtyjarhikes  8 годин тому +1

      We haven’t used to EE quilt, but it is probably warmer because they use a thicker shell. But, the zpacks quilt was really warm, and that’s probably because two people under the quilt generates a surprising amount of heat (more than we expected).
      So the zpacks is actually a good deal because it’s lighter and still warm enough for spring/summer/fall hiking.
      We haven’t zipped two bags together. We read it’s kinda awkward to use two separate foot boxes.
      If you’re thinking about a 2p quilt do it! We have really liked the switch.
