I believe, that watching this video is in itself 'adrishta phala' of some 'punya karma' performed earlier.
Pray that all such noble actions fructify at 'one go' by some divine intervention, and help us attain the true underlying state of unchanging consciousness & bliss, and lead us out of the forest of Samsara. Thanks to you Swamiji.

22:04 - “Misdeeds from past lives carrying forward into future lives” (summarized) brings to mind the idea in Christian theology that man is born in “sin” and that even a young child isn’t “without sin”.

Swamiji's lectures are helpful to understand complicated spiritual matters. To understand any subject you need to have some basic knowledge of the subject. To understand Vedanta you have to bring your awareness to the level of the lecturer. Otherwise you can waste your energy criticising the lecturer. If your intentions are to understand the Vedanta, Swamiji's lectures are very helpful. Thanks Swamiji.

Rather than having her mother shoulder such a burden, I think she has taken on suffering to "pay it off" instead. Or, maybe I think too much.

Nice explanation, when one surrenders to Sri Krishna all the karma of all those changes, just like a a fan, as long as the fan is still connected to the power source it will spin but it will still spin even when switched off until it runs out of inertia, similarly when we surrender to Krishna and become His devotees the fan is disconnected but some karma will still become apparent but will eventually all good and bad karma will cease.

'Karma' is in the sphere of 'relative truth', like science.
I prefer the 'mystery' answer. What drives the dream of Vishnu is beyond our ken but essentially benign, as we know when we merge in oneness with him and his dream. As benevolence, we see the benevolence of the dream or 'God's plan' even though the human mind can't work out its details.
Therefore, the 'mystery' explanation (that particular cleric's explication aside) can be more satisfying and consoling than the 'believe in karma because of its utility' explication given here.

  • @breatheandshineyoga

Yes the theory of karma, for those who can accept that there is more than the eyes can see (or more than what our current technologies and ability to write equations can figure out), provides some valuable ways of making sense of our circumstances in establishing an understanding of our part in the unfolding of situations.
The fact remains that in interacting with the external world (people, natural environment), the outcome of our interactions will vary according to whom or what we interact with.
It seems therefor that there is also components that lie outside of our punyas and papas and that can enhance those innate variables that we hold.
Is Karma only one aspect of the chain of causations that determines our circumstances and experiences?

With the greatest respect........ Expectations require a person not to be in the now, this is the only time we live.... to Expect is to live in fear as you are allowing your ego to transmit and control the consciousness to the future, if you do not expect and live in the now then any outcome, should you be in control .....that is not governed by the ego, should be governed by Love and therefore balance is retained and without Karma

First of all, thanks for the brilliant content being made by you for us to freely access. Im very grateful for that 🙏✨🙏
I do have a question though, as it has been a doubt ive had for some time, about the moral quality of the action performed. Is this determined by intention? If so, whatever seems to be right to the doer is what will determine the moral quality lf his doing? For example: if in my cultural context eating with the right hand is socially accepted and I do it to be obedient with those who teach me. But if I go somewhere else and my custom of eating with hand creates discomfort and anxiety among the ones who I am sharing a meal with and I did not notice their discomfort; would this last create a negative or positive karma if my intention was never to disturb but to just do what I thought was the right thing to do? Or it would manifest the same way and I will eventually be disturbed by someone who didnt intended to disturb me?
    Thanks 🙌

With all my respect this is the first time I disagree with Vedantas teachings… I do believe good actions & bad actions have different results, but to me doing them because of fear of it’s result is in itself papa karma. It’s just as Christians & Islams fear to Gods punishment. We should do good deeds just for the believe that we can do better.
Of course I undestand that it can alleviate our unrest for questions like why do bad things happen to bad people, but I find more confort to this matters in the Stoic approach; acceptance of our limits, love of fate (whatever your fate is you could always have never been anything, be grateful) & neutral moral of certain acctions (….💩happens… you can & may cry, but stand back up & find out what are your options)
I love your teachings, again I say this just as an opinion with all my respect, I’m absolutelly loving both the course in meditation & the bhagavad gitas teachings.
Thank you for all your videos! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Krishna defines karma in the Bhagavid-gita as actions pertaining to the development of material bodies, and he also explains how our karma is derived from our conditioning of the three modes of nature. He says, " the result of pious action is pure and is said to be in the mode of goodness. But action done in the mode of passion results in misery, and action performed in the mode of ignorance results in foolishness.
When we work through natures subtle modes of goodness, passion, and ignorance from each mode a fate is attached to it and what we experience as karma is the fate attached to these modes. As Krishna explains when he says, " From the mode of goodness, real knowledge develops, from the mode of passion, greed develops; and from the mode of ignorance develop foolishness, madness, and illusion."

I love all your presentations on Advaita Vedanta, however, i think you will notice that the tennis ball falls when let go (drishta phala) is because the ball is heavier than the air, that's why it falls.
Conversely, a helium filled balloon 🎈 rises because helium is lighter than air.
In physics it's a simple matter of density. Objects lighter than air rise and those objects that are denser/heavier than air sink or fall to the earth.
No need for this hypothetical imaginary force called "gravity".
In fact, the word "gravity" is from the (Proto Indo European) PIE root word "gwere" meaning heavy or weighty.

So.. It's more like quantum entanglement than some robed being with a scorecard writing down good and evil deeds. ..

I love your videos, thank you so much for creating them.
I have a question. So Karma is fair because we are all equal in undeserved suffering and undeserved pleasure.
How is this insured ? If one at his first life come to this realization then he will maximise his good deeds and have a smooth ride from there on. It's like the earlier you understand karma the earlier you will start accumulating good karma which leads to a lesser chance of accumulating bad karma and thus less suffering.
