Hey coach thanks for this lesson! I'm out of the game now as an old guy but I still help a Jiu-jitsu team now and then with takedowns, just as a favor you know... I can still remember going to states in New York as a spectator since I wasn't that accomplished as a competitor, still not able to beat the top four guys in section 4. You were up there in Syracuse battling Daryl Page, and I think you placed four times either first or second, for an epic high school run. Second, first, second, first? Something like that. It seemed you were catching up on the great Troy Bouzakis after he through some early dazzle at you. The match was starting to go your way. That last one against Matsui I think(?), was a really great match. I had some of those on video but lost them to a flooded home years ago. Do you have a good source for past videos such as the world cup and other matches of history? I'm not very good at looking stuff up online. I learned a lot from the tapes I made from events like the Good Will games decades ago, and from simply watching and studying how things work, I did pretty decently at open tournaments in my twenties and during the military. I could tell if I had that kind of instruction as a younger kid, I may have been there at the high school state finals and maybe then a scholarship to help me pay for college. Life just doesn't go the same for each of us LOL. At least I've found peace with helping younger grapplers improve.
