I am so inspired and blessed to share with you this project of me and my very first “inaanak”, Aljo.
Aljo’s mom, ma’am Sally, as we call her was my elementary teacher and when she got married and had her first son (she has three) she asked me if I could be his ‘godmother’. I was only 12 years old then and he was my very first “inaanak”.
When Aljo was three, he was diagnosed to have hemophilia, which is an inherited bleeding disorder in which the blood does not clot properly. His condition was and is still very sensitive that he should be careful not to have any cuts, bumps or bruises because this might cause excessive bleeding that is very difficult to stop. Throughout his childhood and adolescence he has gone back and forth to the hospital for blood transfusions and treatments due to complications of this disease. There was a point in his life were he could not even stand or walk due to problems in his joints and wheels himself around to be able to move which also caused him to stop going to school for a while.
Despite these challenges in his life, ‘when darkness deepens and when other helpers fail and comforts flee’, he abides in Jesus and continues to serve Him. Along with his brothers, they are active members of the church and offer their singing talent to the Lord without reservation.
Truly, when we abide in Jesus, amid the hurdles and obstacles, we can serve whatever the handicap for He would always fill in our inadequacies!
