    I've had my eye on the walnut hss version and the last thing I want to do is pay over $400 and then have to sink money into it with new tuners and a bridge just to keep it in tune. Thanks for your video Elmo, it's much appreciated. Rock on, my friend!

      I have the walnut HSS. Only problem I've had is a buzzing coming from the body, which I isolated to the middle pickup mount. Lowered it all the way and the buzz went away. Will pull it apart and address eventually. As for tuning stability, his "bit of abuse" was beating the hell out of the trem. 😊 I would be surprised if many 6-screw trems would hold up to that. Got mine used, EC for $300.

      @@MrPolevaulter Have you ever watched a channel called "Marty5150"? He's a very cool dude, guitar nut, and does Great videos, from lessons to reviews. He like you, is just straight up and honest, a rare thing. Have you ever thought of doing some sort of crossover with another channel? You have So much in common with the down to earth, honest takes. But have a varied music taste, but still similar enough to make interesting content. Just a thought, the European and USA crossover could be interesting is all, sadly, I don't know anyone doing what you're doing here in my Country Australia to suggest... Ah! A guitar I actually have! And I love it! It's basically my #1 now, both live and in the studio (for single coil playing). Squire went all in on this one. It's heavy, the headstock is large and in charge, the pickups sound warm and bitey and the body feels like it just wants to cuddle you while you're playing it.
    EDIT: My guitar stays in tune even if I abuse the trem a bit. Of course I changed strings as soon as I got it, and I put on a bit of nut juice, like I always do. Mine is now strung with D'Addario 10-52, and they stay in tune like they should. Maybe I got an especially good one then, and you got unlucky?

    I've had the 50s one in fiesta red for about a year. It's a good playable reliable guitar and it looks cool. I'm a sort of combo rhythm indie player. Positions 1,2 and four are pretty convincing. The bridge is a bit shrill for my taste. The middle is
    Okay but if you want to blend neck and bridge as I do for some stuff your probably better with a two pup guitar. That said. Pos,12+4 work really well with chorus phaser flanger flangeretc

    Even expensive guitars “don’t stay in tune” if you don’t file the nut and lube it. Even gibsons with their headstock shape… now I agree, for the price it’s not all that… I just had a chance to buy this one new in the box for 200$ so I’ll go for it but yeah, after tax these guitars cost about $430 here in USA and you could have a nice epiphone or add a couple hundred bucks and have an amazing Mexican fender or player series. Realistically these should be around 300

  • @Old_Geezer
    @Old_Geezer Місяць тому

    As you mentioned: Sire: The S3 costs around £300, the S5 around £338, the S7 Vintage at £444 or the S7 ranging from £444 to £500. (If you're a lefty you'll probably have to pay a fair bit more for any model - that seems to be a given with Sire but they are still well worth the money).
    No I don't work for them but all of the above models are, in comparison to this Classic Vibe, (which I'm not saying is garbage) way better value and superior instruments all round - you just get a lot for your money.

    Unlike the Classic Vibe '70s Olympic White, the Classic Vibe '70s Natural body is designated as being soft maple instead of poplar on Fender's website.

    I tried these in Andertons, and a few good bends put out of tune, on more than one, build quality was fine, though, for the money, imho, better choices, as you say JS300, or a Sire, tbh, if people must buy a Fender, buy a Player series, and if you dont like it, then sell and at least you have had the badge thing out your system.

    Been eyeballing a classic vibe as my new guitar. Haven't played in years due to bad experiences with the guitars I've owned. Whether it is warped necks or fret ends literally cutting my hands. Unfortunately, fender, Gibson, epiphone, gretsch, and most reputable brands aren't imported where I live. Buying them locally is basically 3x the price you would buy them online. Your reviews of Jet guitars have inspired me to look at the brand, maybe all is not lost. Perhaps I'll buy a top-tier jet to be my guitar for the next few years.

    • @bluwng
      @bluwng Місяць тому +1

      Have you ever tried a Classic Vibe. The way they are built the frets never, ever stick out or are rough. I haven’t tried on in the past two years so unless something changed fret ends are stellar.

    • @rayamukwaya8338
      @rayamukwaya8338 Місяць тому +1

      @bluwng unfortunately they don't ship squiers to where I live most online stores say they aren't allowed to ship products to the region where I live. And buying classics vibes where I live are basically the equivalent of buying them for 1k USD. Might as well get a Fender at that price.

    So it's the poor locking system the reason that can't stay in tune or bad set up by fender? I ask if a set up can solve the problems or a upgrade of the locking system. I noticed that squires comes with a shitty set up (bass and guitar). I liked the sound though.

    • @sharkey9
      @sharkey9 Місяць тому +2

      There's no locking.
      It's a vintage style tremolo and you have to set it up correctly. Unscrew the 4 inner trem screws by about 2mm so the trem rests only on the outer 2 screws.
      Lube the screws and also lube the nut, maybe even polish the nut slots.
      By doing that, you'll get a well working trem - within the typical limitations of o vintage trem of course.

When there is a Review, they always express a very personal opinion, while there is always a general common sense that is perceived by anyone, even if they do not understand the product.

    But i would spend about £500 - £700 the harley benton bass a good bass guitar for theese reasons:
    Great gig guitar
    As above good guitar for band playing
    The guitar need the 100 watts amps ahem marshall to beef up the sound and you have a £1000+ guitar for a 1/3 of the price.

    • @RackhirTheRed
      @RackhirTheRed Місяць тому +1

      Amps are designed to sound "as they are" with the tone knobs at 5. It's called a Flat Stack and shows exactly how the particular amps tone stack is voiced.
      After that owners can adjust to personal taste.
      If an amp doesn't sound good "at noon" then it doesn't sound good at all.

    • @xcx8646
      @xcx8646 Місяць тому +1

      @@RackhirTheRed Yeah that's nonsense. Lots of amps sound much, much better with the dials set radically away from noon. The guitar (and pickups) and room will also affect this. There is no logical reason not tweak the amp so it sounds good in a review video - or at least so a Strat sounds like a Strat. The mahogany Strat with the YJM pickups he often uses in the reviews sounds awful most of the time. With the amps not optimised it is impossible to tell if the amps sound bad or if the Strat does, especially being mahogany with non-standard pickups, so none of us really know it it as a reference guitar. It makes the amp reviews pointless.
      Use standard guitars we all know and tweak the amp to so sounds good. Otherwise the videos are just a waste of time.

      @StephenJOldfieldGuitar Not all of us Boomers think alike! Matter of fact: I have been a fan of Yngwie Malmsteen since that fateful day in March 1985 when I first heard "Black Star" via a floppy record that came as an insert in the April 1985 issue of "Guitar Player" magazine. After I picked my jaw up off the floor, I decided I HAD to get his debut solo album (then only available as an import). Hearing the album in its entirety blew my mind even FURTHER. NOBODY I knew of sounded like what he was throwin' down; I'd never heard anything like it! Then I found out he was playing a gig at a nearby club ("Bratz" in Pennsauken, New Jersey) that July, and THAT was a no-brainer! Brain-frying show; I was in GUITAR HEAVEN. Been a fan ever since. (You DO realize that Yngwie HIMSELF is "Boomer" age himself, right? Hell, he was even BORN the same year as I was!)
      I ALSO enjoy Elmo Karjalainen's videos, and I admire his ability to capture Yngwie's tone and phrasing. His sense of humor is very entertaining also! Seems like a hell of a nice guy.
