Puchberg am Schneeberg, a quiet and neat Alpine village in Lower Austria, the start and end point for the hike to the Hochschneeberg from the previous video • Exploring Austrian Alp... Although small with its 2700 inhabitants, the village is renown destination for tourists and visitors not only for the many hiking possibilities in the area but also for its SPA centers and facilities.
Puchberg am Schneeberg started to gain popularity for its calmness even in the 18th century. The mountain, the mild climate and the wonderful landscape have in the past attracted even emperors, scientists, poets, musicians, manufacturers and made the village famous as a health and holiday resort back in imperial times.
The name Puchberg was first mentioned in 1260 in reference to Eberhard von Puchperch and in the Middle Ages four castles were built near Puchberg, including Puchberg Castle, of which only ruins remain.
The heart of today's Puchberg's downtown is occupied by a beautiful park with a lake surrounded by a path, an outdoor stage and landscaped flowers and plants that I couldn't resist making this short video about.
