As other commenters have said, the long straight threads of the fabric are the warp, and the threads going left to right, perpendicular to the warp are the weft. The warp threads were typically separated into two groups, so one group could be held up by the loom while the other was held down, and the shuttle (like a pointy bobbin wound with thread) was passed between the up and down warp threads. Then the loom was operated such that the up and down threads swap position.
Outside of weaving and textile production the word "weft" is almost completely unused.
It's hard to see all of the detail when the machine moves so fast, but the process we're seeing in this video is essentially identical to the hand looming process which has been employed by humans for at least 6000 years. It's true that there have been many enhancements and complications over the centuries, and during the industrial revolution in Europe, weaving textiles was extremely hazardous, and many children were used to do the dangerous work with shuttles because kids are small and it was easy to replace them when they were crushed by the heavy machinery.
These days textile looms are so efficient compared to their origin that humans produce far more fabric than we actually use. So this incredibly laborious process which took forever to produce garments has been optimised to the point that it's easy to produce too much fabric, which is another example of humans being bad at adjusting to efficiency increases.
These days modern looms allow CNC-style control, and the development of the Jacquard loom in the early 1800s was - amazingly - a precursor to modern microprocessor implementations. Jacquard looms use punch cards to decide which threads are picked up and woven with each pass of the loom, allowing the creation of pictures and patterns much like a graphics bitmap.
Slightly before I got into Information Technology, many computers were programmed with punch cards essentially identical to those of a Jacquard loom. So in this video we're seeing a real world implementation of what is essentially a memory filling algorithm, where the memory bits are represented by different colours of thread. And where this loom operates a few times a second (which is crazy-fast compared to a manual loom operated by hand and foot) a CPU today operates at a few billion times a second.
Work by significant characters like Ada Lovelace, Charles Babbage, and Alan Turing has made its way into both textile manufacture and information technology. And with the looms shown in this video, it's possible to program an implementation of the classic PC game Doom. It's just the the framerate would be quite low, like chess instead of computing.

In English, that would be called a shawl. Here in Canada, a scarf would usually mean a narrow piece of cloth to be wrapped around the neck in winter.
I would've called it a throw blanket

The vertical threads are the warp, the horizontal the weft, they are carried back and forth by a shuttle(s). The warp threads are run through headdles which are controled by the treadles(and your feet).
Beautifully done! As a former weaver, I really enjoyed this.
In England, we would call it a stole or a wrap. Shawls and stoles are both wraps, but we generally use the word stole if it's a wide rectangle and shawl if it's some sort of triangle. A scarf is just a narrower rectangle.
I have a blanket made of this same material /pattern that I bought at IKEA 25 years ago. It is still in great condition.
I am aware that these are Scarfs.
It's fascinating to see (how) the same pattern/material is made, that was used for my balaket.

In The US, this is a lap robe or a car robe. Can be used as a shawl but more likely for a little extra protection from drafts at home or kept in car for use as an all purpose small blanket variety of uses.

I missed how they keep the edge from undoing itself.
When they raise the knap with the hook rollers, making it fluffy!, it also interlocks the threads preventing them from unraveling. Similar to felting process that is used with Hudson Bay blankets, which also have no binding.
There aren’t any vertical threads. All the threads are horizontal. The warp threads go through the vertical heddles which raise and lower the warp threads so the weft can be woven in perpendicular to the warp.
