Update... I put a new set of batteries in mine. The batteries are model CR1220, and it cost me $10 for the pair! at the local battery store. The batteries each attatch to a clip inside of the LED housing. I had to cut things up a bit to finally figure this out. Anyway, the flasing LEDs work properly... some or most of the time. The magnet contact points are very touchy and need just the right amount of pressure for the lights to work in tandem. Now I'll be able to have a first time veiwing of the film with the glowing eyes, but the packing may need readjusting with each/any future handling. Flawed product and inferior quality control form Severin on this one. They should send out a fresh pair of batteries (along with their $10 credit) to their purchasers of this slipcase.
Yeah, mine has the same issue (Cathy's Cyclop Curse) but with the opposite eye than your's staying lit permantly. Oh well, Severin certainly didn't want these problems with the packaging, it's a big headache for them. Oh well, it's kind of funny we are all somewhat affected by Cathy's case Curse. 😱 We're tough, we can deal with it.
lol - I had the same experience with mine. So the slip box is supposed to work when sliding the magnets up and back under the LED lights. Each time you slide it’s supposed to put them blinking, Blinking faster, then solid, then off. But like yours, my one eye stays on. Then it goes off on its own and stays on own its own. Eventually it goes off. And the bottom is supposed to separate like that. The actual website explains how the lights are “supposed to work.” I did email Severin and they kindly offered to replace my slip box but the only thing is the ones they have left may have “cosmetic damage.” So we’ll see what they can send as a replacement. I agree with your assessment too of the film. Cathy was great. Fun fact is that Randi Allen, who played Cathy did this one and only acting appearance to help her mother pay some bills apparently. She never had desire to act again. So I thought that was interesting. Other acting was not good so she was the shining star in a “not so great film.” I thought the transfer was decent. I wouldn’t have minded a “little” DNR as I thought it was quite grainy. Although it may have been shot on 16mm which just makes a 4k transfer more grainy. Nice job at the end explaining how the LED lights work. In the end of it all - sometimes “gimmicks” help sell bad films lol. But you hope at least the gimmicks work 😂
The LED lights don't work at all on mine. I even took it apart like you did, could be the batteries but both of them not working, what are the odds on that?. It was a good idea just a poorly made product.

That's the equivalent to scoring one of the scarce, sought after Golden Tickets to Wonka's chocolate factory! 🎉🎉🎉 Expect a media frenzy and multitudes of people you've never even known to be contacting you or showing up at your door in attempt to befriend you in hopes of getting a first hand glimpse (or more) of your prized, functioning LED case. It may be wise not to hesitate getting a high value insurance policy on it as well as clear instructions in your will or trust of who/where should inheirit it at your eventual passing. Oh, who are you trying to fool here? Your case can't possibly be functioning correctly, it's a modern day engineering impossibility! 🚀

Thanks for the update! I was able to adjust mine a little bit, but it still doesn't sync properly. Thanks mentioning the battery model too!

You have to pull it out and push it in slowly. If you do it too fast it doesn't make proper contact.
