Presence of mind is important. Yes Essence Reaver in a way makes it meaningless but for early game it's has that safety belt aspect of it. So it is not a wrong choice
i dont agree. You rush essence r. and start with ring+ have cookies so you have planty mana for begginig. I think overheal works better.
@@NimbleTheLJ overheal 100% the best for smolder, for his whole kit R and AoE attack late game that heals massive amount
cookies help survive lane, and to be exact have a rougher laning phase. But the payoff with overheal is so big
tbh idk if its better or not i havent rly played smolder but im pretty sure that he didnt pick it by accident. In korea many ppl opt for the rune even when going ER they even used to do it on draven. IDK whats better or worse but im pretty sure he has his reasons.

here from the future, they recently buffed smolders crit scaling back up and so a great potential damage purchase after rapidfire would be navori 5th item. huge spike from my experience

What’s your take on building liandrys? I see a lot of people building it for the burn
Its bad. they made the TD burn scale mainly off of AD, the liandrys passive burn would be about the same dmg as the extra dmg on your burn from an AD item except the Q burn is true damage and the liandrys is magic so its just worse
W8 isnt there ap scaling for the td burn and u get tankiness as well. Plus w and ult scales quite well with ap
@@Al3x1230 the td burn scales twice as much with AD. The td burn is 1% per 100 AP whereas its 2% per 100 AD. The W and ult also have better AD scaling than AP but the td burn and execute are the only values that smolder really cares abt anyway
@@Al3x1230 if you want tankiness, BT gives you 18% lifesteal and also 70-95 AD (dep on lvl) which is way better than the 90 AP from Liandrys. Plus you should already have shojin which is 400 hp, enough for you to survive most burst, atleast long enough to E out or flash out.
Why no Quickblades? It provides AH, amps Q damage and Q even reduces it's own CD when it hits. Would probably be my 3rd or 4th item choice depending on whether I need RFC or not.
Crit isn’t as important to get for smolder now. It’s still good but to maximize use of his Q having Shojin and the other items for survival is better. But I like to build Navori too so you do you
What happened to the comet ap smolder build in which you go dring, dseal, riftmaker, liandrys into shojin
It isnt nearly as strong as it used to be given they nerfed his W's base dmg and made it scale off bonus ad while reducing the ap scaling for the initial hit. It was aimed to make it so his early game isn't so "free" as it was before but starting Dring is a viable strat still.
I like presence of mind because I prefer tri force over essence reaver. I only go essence reaver when i hard lose lane to spike early
The reason the rank1 still goes presence of mind even tho ereaver makes it useless is that the value it gives before completing ereaver farrr outweighs the value triumph and overheal give throughout the game. Better to have a rune that is very valuable lvls 1-9 and then is useless than a rune that is weak at all levels 1-18
It doesn't do anything in lane from my experience. Biscuits do everything. Trust me: play a game with Triumph and tell me how much you actually missed PoM
@@MissFortuneDaBes I tried both but this was back before they nerfed the W early damage, so maybe PoM doesnt help as much now that spell spamming W isn't as strong. I will try it.
@@MissFortuneDaBes it does if you are playing an aggro lane and manage to get a kill it refunds 15% of total missing mana

At least he still needs a team cause if he's shut down from farming during laning phase and team is losing, then the comeback is very hard.
+ With no frontline Smolder is useless as he'll be quickly focused
Honestly i played a lot of ad carry, but Smolder is by far one of the best out of them (and current best) because his E spell and build makes him extremely hard to deal with, coupled by the fact that if you still cannot reach him after his E expire he probably destroys you while slamming Q spells so... I'd disagree on the "still needs a team" it's way easier to solo carry as Smolder than any other adc except maybe for Vayne and Kaisa, although he is stronger than them for sure

Funny. I'm Bronze. But when I played Smolder with POM one time, I already noticed how useless POM is when you already have Essence. So the next games I got Triumph. Which, is more useful.

I'm pretty sure it does a decent amount more dmg than eclipse if U do the maths (haven't don't it yet but I should be right) nemisis is w me on this btw. Also Ur e being so much lower cd from autoing a lil here and there is nuts.
So who are you to say that the rank 1 Smolder is wrong for taking PoM?
Hes rank 1 with smolder for a reason. Maybe instead of ignorantly saying hes wrong, you should instead wonder why he runs it despite Smolder rushing ER.
The answer? Because if you're stacking correctly, you go oom insanely quickly as smolder. It doesnt matter that late game, PoM is useless. Runes late game dont matter for Smolder because 225 is all that matters. Meaning early game needs help. And what helps early game? PoM.
"How to win with Smolder? Pick Smolder."
Great early game, outtrading anything and everything, monster mid game, and late game doesn't exist in current meta.
