I miss the times before the pandemic when I would go to hear Katrina in that hall. I was told at the beginning she sang without a cover charge. By my time it was a princely 4 to 5 dollars. Lol. I said right away she was a future superstar even when most of the Filipinos i knew had never heard of her.

The word surpassing is inappropriate to compare Katrina and Mori with seasoned singers most especially in the Philippines or even internationally. They even admitted that they looked up to these singers and had so much to learn from them. I'm referring to Regine and Lani locally amd Whitney, Mariah, and Celine on the international stage.
Now, on which aspects are they better? Vocal wise, these seasoned singers are way better than Mori and Katrina on one aspect of another. Have you heard of the resonance and power of Regine? The dynamics and powerful head voice of Lani? The dynamics and agility of Whitney? The whistle note and agility of Mariah?
In terms of performance, records prove that these singers sold albums and had successful concerts.
We are happy that they are doing good but it should not reach the point where you compare them with their idols and tell them that the old lost to the new generation. Now go and search for these singers.
