No Senna legend without Prost, no Prost legend without Senna. The 95% guy VS the 105% guy, the fighting spirit of Senna Vs the strategy of Prost. Great rivalries beetween pilots had hapenned before them and after, but this one will allways be the highest in F1 history. .
Senna just did what Prost did to him the year before on the same track. Senna was faster and had to win for the dream of a world championship title and Prost crashed into him. Also Balestre ordered to switch pole position sides with 2nd place so Senna had to start on the dirty side. Sorry but well deserved :/.
I am possibly one of the greatest Senna fans ever. My admiration for Prost is almost of equal status. Alain is a true TITAN of F1. I can imagine that Senna's TF1 message to Prost live on air, holds immense meaning to Alain nowadays. Please do as you say and tell the story your way Alain. I'd buy that book in a heartbeat.
Prost, un mec qui a été sur le toit du monde (de la F1) et qui reste simple et humain, et qui garde le respect pour son ancien rival, ça force l'admiration. J'étais pour Prost, mais quel choc, quel drame quand Senna est mort !!! J'ai 45 ans, j'ai commencé à regarder la F1 avec l'arrivée d'Alain Prost et son numéro 15 (que j'avais en maquette), j'ai arrêté de regarder la F1 avec la mort de Senna. J'ai souvent revu des courses, essayé de suivre des saisons, essayé de me passionner, mais non, cette période du dimanche après midi (avant les innombrables coupures pubs) restera magique en moi grâce à messieurs Lauda, PIquet, Patrese, Alboreto, Mansell, et surtout Prost et Senna! Ce grand prix de Monaco sous un déluge où la course avait été arrêtée alors qu'un acrobate prenait tous les risques pour remonter sur Prost, c'était le début de cette période passionnante qui s'est arrêtée un jour à Imola, par la plus grande marque de respect qu'un pilote puisse faire à un autre.Quand j'entend dire qu'un producteur dit que ça n'a pas existé... Je ne regrette pas de ne pas avoir vu ce film et ça ne me donne certainement pas envie de le voir. A l'époque, on aimait Prost, ou Senna, et on détestait son adversaire. Aujourd'hui, on est obligé d'aimer les deux, celui qui en est incapable n'a rien compris à cette période.25 ans après le "I miss you Alain" m'étreint toujours de la même émotion.Ce n'est que mon avis...
Exactement. Cette période a été le point culminant de l'histoire de la F1. Quand à l'existence du message de Senna adressé à Prost, et bien on est quand même quelques dizaines de million à l'avoir entendu simultanément.

@Crixus Mauperthuis bah non son meilleur résultat en GP c une 9e place et sa carrière a été très courte. Cevert ct un grand espoir, 3e mondial. S'il ne s'était pas tué au volant en 73, il serait devenu champion du monde l'année suivante ou celle d'après. En effet, si l'on regarde le classement de 1971, 72, et 73, tous les 5 premiers ont été champions de F1 (Lauda en 1975, 77, 84, Fittipaldi en 72 et 74, Andretti en 78, James Hunt en 76)
What I like about Alain Prost is he always see the whole picture about the things. About Senna's warm message to Prost,or the accident with Senna in '90, or heavy rain race in Adelaide in '89…He always talked it for the sport and people, not just for his position and own feeling, because he is very integrated successful man so he doesn't need a good cover and cheesy story. Time will tell his quality.
Senna and Prost: two great legends of F1. They left a poetic trail in the history of speed in F1's best seasons from 1986 to 1993. Senna learned a lot from Prost and Prost understood very well who Senna was.
Je viens de voir le film Senna. C'est émouvant mais en effet en écoutant Alain, on comprend leur histoire sous un plus bel angle. En fait Alain était pour Senna son alter ego. Un peu comme un Zidane face à Ronaldo. Il avait besoin de lui pour avoir un vrai challenger. C'était à la fois son "ennemie" mais surtout son compagnon de jeu. C'est extrêmement rare (voire même inédit) ce genre d'histoire dans le monde du sport. Et c'est pour ça que c'est touchant d'avoir des détails personnels de la bouche même d'Alain. Il est en quelque sorte notre seul lien avec Senna, avec ce passé qui fut une époque incroyable. Je ne sais pas s'il a écrit ce fameux livre depuis. Si ce n'est pas le cas, qu'il ne tarde pas trop.

Un grand champion! qui a parfois été injustement traité par les médias Français. . Le Film est un hymne à Senna que j'aimais beaucoup tant il était attachant mais n'est pas l'exact réalité concernant la relation Prost Senna.. Senna a lui aussi fait quelques coups "tordus" à Prost. En réalité ces 2 grands champions se respectaient. .et si Senna n'était pas mort à Imola, ils seraient amis aujourd'hui.

I respect Alain Prost for his exceptional performance - but I admire him for his patience, willing to talk about Senna instead of his own achievements. People talking all the time about Senna is as nerving as the film about him. For me is Alain Prost the better driver - not (only) because he achieved four titles, but because he managed his success without getting involved in a fatal crash. Therefore he is still with us and able to enjoy life.

Films that are based on true stories are always unfair to someone. Film makers always find a way to make up "the bad side" out of that someone. In this case Prost. We enjoyed his rivalery with Senna, period.

I loved that film but they made a mistake not putting that last commentary in when Senna was talking about missing Prost. I think it would have made the film complete.
Prost is right on the spot, I go even further and call the movie on Senna utter garbage. The problem is already having the approach of a "movie" and turn reality into partly fiction by mixing things up to serve a narrative. While Senna had streaks of narcissism, I highly doubt he would be happy with the result of it because he also had the ability to reflect and grow and showed that over his career. The guy was not a dummy and this movie dumbs down so many aspects

A lot of people are SO unfair with Prost, that's disgusting. Always remember a few bad things and never hundreds of good things (Even in France there is a running gag about Prost complaining) when for others drivers it's the opposite. Senna good things are in everybody's mind, Senna bad moves, bad spirit, THAT doesn't happend, right ? Actually, good example : Prost was cut from Senna movie. His point of view was dropped. (Yeah it's in the DVD extras but people would watch the documentary a lot more) Like if people who made this said "Who cares, he's an asshole Senna is nice." Simplistic like some fans view about Senna/Prost rivalry.

Albert, I understood this same as you. I'm from Brazil so I can say the truth, Senna is not more popular than Prost in Brazil, Senna is more popular than Pelé, Ronaldo and everybody together. Senna was the best sportman that we ever had. However I have to say, big part of that due to Prost's perfomance, Prost was magic, and he made Senna a Legend due to outstading race battles. If you dont believe me, search videos about senna death in Brazil, the whole country crying together like in a war. Please before saying shit, think about it and google it. 89-94 were the last and best years in F1.

Pour moi , Senna s'est fixé Prost comme ennemi tot dans sa carriere. Il avait un comportement particulier avec Prost sur la piste , on peut le voir sur les années précédentes. Ils se sont battu , mis des toises par média interposé. Puis Senna a commencé à prendre du recul et s'est dit "Peut etre , ca n'en valait pas la peine. Je suis un grand champion. Prost est un grand champion qui m'a donné plus de fil a torde que je l'imaginais au départ. Tentons de faire la paix, car un autre viendra pour me pousser dehors et je dois faire très attention à moi désormais." Lors de l'accident de Senna , il ne faut pas se voiler la face Schumacher commencait à pointer son nez grave et Senna+ Williams Renault avaient du mal face à la surprenante Schumacher + Benetton Ford très performante malgré un moteur V8 a priori moins performant que le V10 Renault.
My last comment went wrong. I meant to say hare in Brasil we call Mr. Prost as the professor. Not a teacher but a professor. He was the reason Ayrton became someone. Having a God like Mr. Prost as an objective is and will always be extremely hard. Thats why I love Senna. And thats why Prost isnt senna. And will never be.
Et oui la f1 avec prost et senna ou senna et prost n'a jamais été aussi prenante qu'à cette époque et de très loin..oublié les fabuleux grand prix. Prost n'est prost que part senna..et senna n'est senna que par prost..c'est une merveilleuse page du sport qui s'est envolé qui s'est terminé en 93 et 94 . Nostalgie de cette époque à jamais gravé.
Sincèrement Prost le prend comme ça car il est concerné au premier chef mais en tant que spectateur ayant beaucoup aimé ce film, j'ai compris qu'on a deux styles de compétiteurs, l'un très dangereux, à fond dans le ressenti/le moment présent et l'autre très stratège, calculateur, ce qui n'est pas forcément péjoratif, c'est simplement un style, une approche. Bien sur on peut s'imaginer que le portrait est donc complètement à charge concernant Prost mais vraiment pour ma part j'ai aimé ce tableau d'une rivalité opposant deux styles, deux techniciens aux approches hyper différentes mais donnant d'impressionnant résultats pour l'un comme pour l'autre. Une vraie ambivalence, une vraie dualité. Si leurs oppositions de style n'avaient pas été aussi prononcées, peut-être ne se seraient-ils pas autant disputé les podiums. Bref. J'ai envie de dire "Rassurez-vous monsieur Prost", on est assez malins en tant que spectateurs pour savoir faire la part des choses. Sachant qu'il s'agit de sport, les tensions amitié/rivalité, admiration/rancoeur sont parfaitement compréhensibles et bref, pour moi ce film est un petit chef-d'oeuvre qui nous implique dans cette rivalité à merveille. Bien sur le film porte sur la carrière de Senna, donc pas essence, on se place de son "côté" ou dans son casque. C'est logique.
Sou um brasileiro muito fã de Senna , mas também de Prost, não posso negar que o odiei por causa da covarida que foi armada em Suzuka 89, e o quanto foi deliciosa a sensação de vingança exatamente um ano depois nos mesmo local e nas mesmas condições em 90, mas são aguas passadas, hoje em dia sinto muita falta de ambos , daquelas manhas de domingo maravilhosas onde após cada corrida eu ficava contando os dias para chegar logo a próxima, hoje fica um vazio muito grande em relação a isto e o quanto eles dois foram importantes.

Avec le retrait de Prost, c'est la raison d'être de Senna qui s'en allait. Ce qui fait que ses adieux et cette fin sur Imola, c'est aussi tragique que brutal, et tout prend un autre sens. Et clairement, ces réalisateurs ou producteurs qui se pensent omniscients et se permettent de déformer ou nier la réalité sont absolument exécrables. Oser toucher à quelque chose de sacré comme ça, ça tiendrait qu'à moi, producteur, réal, cameraman ou scénariste, ils seraient tous en taule.

The great travesty of Senna documentary! With any small discernment it should be clear how hard it was to work with the fiery Aries that was Senna. How many Championships did Prost contest by only a few points. Must have been absolutely disgusted by Japan 1990. Man is too much of a gentleman too complain but many would have had a nervous breakdown.

I don't believe anyone can take away the accomplishments of Prost as an F1 driver, great champion, etc. What is not mentioned here in this vid or comments below is the close relationship he had with the other frenchman in the mix, and mess of that era, Jean-Marie Balestre. If the truth is being told in the Senna film, Balestre did all he could to award the championship to Prost by taking away the win in 1989 GP of Japan after the collision and also by placing Senna on the dirty side of the racing line in Japan again in 1990. I see bias there, only my opinion. Either way, it is history now.

I do not need the film "Senna" to see the obvious. The disqualification of Ayrton resulting in the loss of that incredible win speaks for itself. You are underestimating the power of Balestre, from his own mouth, "the only opinion that matters is mine". I believe there was bias on his part, Ayrton believed it too and so did many others. Wrong is wrong regardless of the driver, that title was rightfully his and it was unlawfully taken away. My opinion, I respect yours. If you read my first comment I clearly stated that I am not taking away anything from Prost, a true champion and magnificent driver, however to deny the relationship between 2 countrymen, bias towards Ayrton, is to deny the truth.

How else would you explain placing the pole sitter on the "dirty" side of the track, even after the driver requested he be placed in the clean side? How else do you explain the reversal of the "rules" the next year which allowed the drivers to not have to turn around and face the upcoming cars, and exit safely unto the track? Now days FIA is 100 percent regulated by new rules and not just a few sacred cows. I see your point, but I am convinced that Prost was given that race and sealed the championship, hence Senna doing what he did in 1990 Japan and not placing the decision in the hands of these biased men. @Maverick OUI c'est prévu, un biopic sur Prost, donc un film Français, qui relaterait son Duel avec Senna. J'ai vu ça sur allociné et l'Equipe. Mais cela date de 2017, mais depuis... Je crois qu'ils attendent encore la totalité du financement et ce n'est pas Hollywood qui finance ;)
@Maverick De plus Rush est un bon film avec les moyens d'holliwood. Pour moi, la rivalité Senna-Prost est plus connu. Mais j'étais trop jeune pendant le duel Lauda-Hunt (qui a, comme tu le sous-entend, moins marqué le monde de la f1). D’ailleurs dans un biopic sur Prost, on devrait retrouvé le personnage de Lauda, au moins au début. Bon! même Français, j’espère que ce film se ferra. Merci Alain, a true gentleman and a superb pilot. Senna was my idol but he was the hero that he was because of this great rivalry.
J'ai 45 ans, j'ai commencé à regarder la F1 avec l'arrivée d'Alain Prost et son numéro 15 (que j'avais en maquette), j'ai arrêté de regarder la F1 avec la mort de Senna. J'ai souvent revu des courses, essayé de suivre des saisons, essayé de me passionner, mais non, cette période du dimanche après midi (avant les innombrables coupures pubs) restera magique en moi grâce à messieurs Lauda, PIquet, Patrese, Alboreto, Mansell, et surtout Prost et Senna! Ce grand prix de Monaco sous un déluge où la course avait été arrêtée alors qu'un acrobate prenait tous les risques pour remonter sur Prost, c'était le début de cette période passionnante qui s'est arrêtée un jour à Imola, par la plus grande marque de respect qu'un pilote puisse faire à un autre.Quand j'entend dire qu'un producteur dit que ça n'a pas existé... Je ne regrette pas de ne pas avoir vu ce film et ça ne me donne certainement pas envie de le voir. A l'époque, on aimait Prost, ou Senna, et on détestait son adversaire. Aujourd'hui, on est obligé d'aimer les deux, celui qui en est incapable n'a rien compris à cette période.25 ans après le "I miss you Alain" m'étreint toujours de la même émotion.Ce n'est que mon avis...

Quand à l'existence du message de Senna adressé à Prost, et bien on est quand même quelques dizaines de million à l'avoir entendu simultanément.

En effet, si l'on regarde le classement de 1971, 72, et 73, tous les 5 premiers ont été champions de F1 (Lauda en 1975, 77, 84, Fittipaldi en 72 et 74, Andretti en 78, James Hunt en 76)

What I like about Alain Prost is he always see the whole picture about the things. About Senna's warm message to Prost,or the accident with Senna in '90, or heavy rain race in Adelaide in '89…He always talked it for the sport and people, not just for his position and own feeling, because he is very integrated successful man so he doesn't need a good cover and cheesy story. Time will tell his quality.

Je viens de voir le film Senna. C'est émouvant mais en effet en écoutant Alain, on comprend leur histoire sous un plus bel angle.
En fait Alain était pour Senna son alter ego. Un peu comme un Zidane face à Ronaldo.
Il avait besoin de lui pour avoir un vrai challenger. C'était à la fois son "ennemie" mais surtout son compagnon de jeu.
C'est extrêmement rare (voire même inédit) ce genre d'histoire dans le monde du sport. Et c'est pour ça que c'est touchant d'avoir des détails personnels de la bouche même d'Alain. Il est en quelque sorte notre seul lien avec Senna, avec ce passé qui fut une époque incroyable.
Je ne sais pas s'il a écrit ce fameux livre depuis. Si ce n'est pas le cas, qu'il ne tarde pas trop.

I respect Alain Prost for his exceptional performance - but I admire him for his patience, willing to talk about Senna instead of his own achievements. People talking all the time about Senna is as nerving as the film about him.
For me is Alain Prost the better driver - not (only) because he achieved four titles, but because he managed his success without getting involved in a fatal crash. Therefore he is still with us and able to enjoy life.

Films that are based on true stories are always unfair to someone. Film makers always find a way to make up "the bad side" out of that someone. In this case Prost. We enjoyed his rivalery with Senna, period.

Prost is right on the spot, I go even further and call the movie on Senna utter garbage. The problem is already having the approach of a "movie" and turn reality into partly fiction by mixing things up to serve a narrative. While Senna had streaks of narcissism, I highly doubt he would be happy with the result of it because he also had the ability to reflect and grow and showed that over his career. The guy was not a dummy and this movie dumbs down so many aspects

A lot of people are SO unfair with Prost, that's disgusting. Always remember a few bad things and never hundreds of good things (Even in France there is a running gag about Prost complaining) when for others drivers it's the opposite. Senna good things are in everybody's mind, Senna bad moves, bad spirit, THAT doesn't happend, right ?
Actually, good example : Prost was cut from Senna movie. His point of view was dropped. (Yeah it's in the DVD extras but people would watch the documentary a lot more) Like if people who made this said "Who cares, he's an asshole Senna is nice." Albert, I understood this same as you. I'm from Brazil so I can say the truth, Senna is not more popular than Prost in Brazil, Senna is more popular than Pelé, Ronaldo and everybody together. Senna was the best sportman that we ever had. However I have to say, big part of that due to Prost's perfomance, Prost was magic, and he made Senna a Legend due to outstading race battles. If you dont believe me, search videos about senna death in Brazil, the whole country crying together like in a war. Please before saying shit, think about it and google it. 89-94 were the last and best years in F1.

Pour moi , Senna s'est fixé Prost comme ennemi tot dans sa carriere. Il avait un comportement particulier avec Prost sur la piste , on peut le voir sur les années précédentes.
Ils se sont battu , mis des toises par média interposé.
Puis Senna a commencé à prendre du recul et s'est dit "Peut etre , ca n'en valait pas la peine. Je suis un grand champion. Prost est un grand champion qui m'a donné plus de fil a torde que je l'imaginais au départ. Tentons de faire la paix, car un autre viendra pour me pousser dehors et je dois faire très attention à moi désormais."
Lors de l'accident de Senna , il ne faut pas se voiler la face Schumacher commencait à pointer son nez grave et Senna+ Williams Renault avaient du mal face à la surprenante Schumacher + Benetton Ford très performante malgré un moteur V8 a priori moins performant que le V10 Renault.

My last comment went wrong. I meant to say hare in Brasil we call Mr. Prost as the professor. Not a teacher but a professor. He was the reason Ayrton became someone. Having a God like Mr. Prost as an objective is and will always be extremely hard. Thats why I love Senna. And thats why Prost isnt senna. And will never be.

Prost n'est prost que part senna..et senna n'est senna que par prost..c'est une merveilleuse page du sport qui s'est envolé qui s'est terminé en 93 et 94 .
Nostalgie de cette époque à jamais gravé.
Sincèrement Prost le prend comme ça car il est concerné au premier chef mais en tant que spectateur ayant beaucoup aimé ce film, j'ai compris qu'on a deux styles de compétiteurs, l'un très dangereux, à fond dans le ressenti/le moment présent et l'autre très stratège, calculateur, ce qui n'est pas forcément péjoratif, c'est simplement un style, une approche. Bien sur on peut s'imaginer que le portrait est donc complètement à charge concernant Prost mais vraiment pour ma part j'ai aimé ce tableau d'une rivalité opposant deux styles, deux techniciens aux approches hyper différentes mais donnant d'impressionnant résultats pour l'un comme pour l'autre. Une vraie ambivalence, une vraie dualité. Si leurs oppositions de style n'avaient pas été aussi prononcées, peut-être ne se seraient-ils pas autant disputé les podiums. Bref. J'ai envie de dire "Rassurez-vous monsieur Prost", on est assez malins en tant que spectateurs pour savoir faire la part des choses. Sachant qu'il s'agit de sport, les tensions amitié/rivalité, admiration/rancoeur sont parfaitement compréhensibles et bref, pour moi ce film est un petit chef-d'oeuvre qui nous implique dans cette rivalité à merveille. Bien sur le film porte sur la carrière de Senna, donc pas essence, on se place de son "côté" ou dans son casque. C'est logique.

Sou um brasileiro muito fã de Senna , mas também de Prost, não posso negar que o odiei por causa da covarida que foi armada em Suzuka 89, e o quanto foi deliciosa a sensação de vingança exatamente um ano depois nos mesmo local e nas mesmas condições em 90, mas são aguas passadas, hoje em dia sinto muita falta de ambos , daquelas manhas de domingo maravilhosas onde após cada corrida eu ficava contando os dias para chegar logo a próxima, hoje fica um vazio muito grande em relação a isto e o quanto eles dois foram importantes.

Avec le retrait de Prost, c'est la raison d'être de Senna qui s'en allait. Ce qui fait que ses adieux et cette fin sur Imola, c'est aussi tragique que brutal, et tout prend un autre sens.
Et clairement, ces réalisateurs ou producteurs qui se pensent omniscients et se permettent de déformer ou nier la réalité sont absolument exécrables. Oser toucher à quelque chose de sacré comme ça, ça tiendrait qu'à moi, producteur, réal, cameraman ou scénariste, ils seraient tous en taule.

I saw the movie, and it is really disgusting how everything is scripted to have a narrative Senna did not need to show his greatness. It would be like needing to change the whole story about bad Magic Johnson and his relation with David Stern, to show how Michael Jordan was a good player.

I don't believe anyone can take away the accomplishments of Prost as an F1 driver, great champion, etc. What is not mentioned here in this vid or comments below is the close relationship he had with the other frenchman in the mix, and mess of that era, Jean-Marie Balestre. If the truth is being told in the Senna film, Balestre did all he could to award the championship to Prost by taking away the win in 1989 GP of Japan after the collision and also by placing Senna on the dirty side of the racing line in Japan again in 1990. I see bias there, only my opinion. Either way, it is history now.

I do not need the film "Senna" to see the obvious. The disqualification of Ayrton resulting in the loss of that incredible win speaks for itself. You are underestimating the power of Balestre, from his own mouth, "the only opinion that matters is mine". I believe there was bias on his part, Ayrton believed it too and so did many others. Wrong is wrong regardless of the driver, that title was rightfully his and it was unlawfully taken away. My opinion, I respect yours. If you read my first comment I clearly stated that I am not taking away anything from Prost, a true champion and magnificent driver, however to deny the relationship between 2 countrymen, bias towards Ayrton, is to deny the truth.

How else would you explain placing the pole sitter on the "dirty" side of the track, even after the driver requested he be placed in the clean side? How else do you explain the reversal of the "rules" the next year which allowed the drivers to not have to turn around and face the upcoming cars, and exit safely unto the track? Now days FIA is 100 percent regulated by new rules and not just a few sacred cows. I see your point, but I am convinced that Prost was given that race and sealed the championship, hence Senna doing what he did in 1990 Japan and not placing the decision in the hands of these biased men. @Maverick OUI c'est prévu, un biopic sur Prost, donc un film Français, qui relaterait son Duel avec Senna. J'ai vu ça sur allociné et l'Equipe. Mais cela date de 2017, mais depuis... Je crois qu'ils attendent encore la totalité du financement et ce n'est pas Hollywood qui finance ;)
@Maverick De plus Rush est un bon film avec les moyens d'holliwood. Pour moi, la rivalité Senna-Prost est plus connu. Mais j'étais trop jeune pendant le duel Lauda-Hunt (qui a, comme tu le sous-entend, moins marqué le monde de la f1). D’ailleurs dans un biopic sur Prost, on devrait retrouvé le personnage de Lauda, au moins au début. Bon! même Français, j’espère que ce film se ferra. Bon dimanche de F1 (même si c'est plus la grande époque, enfin celle que l'on a vraiment aimé).
Prost, pistoné pas Balestre, le titre 1989 eait de Senna, Balestre aussi avait admis qu'il avait aidé Prost, aujourd'hui Prost est connu seulment grace a Senna, autrement il Serait un meconnus pistoné reccomadé, protegé petit homme.
