- In the season 2 premiere of HEAT EATERS, Chef Esther Choi embarks on a quest to 1). Try NYC’s spiciest chicken sandwiches! and 2). Create her own ULTIMATE version with K-pop superstar, JEON SOMI.
The adventure begins at Pecking House, a restaurant that went viral during the pandemic, and famous for its fried chicken that at one point boasted a waitlist of 10,000 customers. At Pecking House, Chef Eric Huang teaches Esther the culinary process for their renowned Chinese Nashville-style, spicy chili oil-dipped chicken sandwich served on milk bread. Next, Esther meets up with Chef Chintan Pandya at Rowdy Rooster to sample their notoriously spicy Level 5 Indian Rowdy Sandwich - one that Eric Andre hailed as spicier than anything featured on Hot Ones! After her fact-finding mission, Esther teams up with JEON SOMI to construct their own PERFECT spicy chicken sandwich, using ingredients that Esther personally curated for SOMI. Their creation combines chili-dipped fried chicken, bulgogi coleslaw, extra-hot Flamin' Hot Cheetos, and a unique sauce blend featuring kimchi animal style sauce, buldak sauce, and gochujang tteokkochi sauce.

Uncle Roger should be happy that it didn't work out. The veiny bony women in their post-prime are chewy and all about them selves in the end (gamy flavor). Horrible texture, funky taste and a lot of unnecessary presentation.

@@turkishdelight600 If you've ever had an interest in learning more about Korean pop culture, Somi is a particularly good on-ramp. For somebody so young, she's kind of the Kevin Bacon of Kpop culture. She's been everywhere.

@@sha7303 You think Somi is trans? A woman who's been in the public eye since she was 7 or 8? (She was part of the South Korean Tae Kwon Do junior demonstration team, before becoming a pop singer). She was in the TV show "Sixteen" when she was 13 years old.
Jeon So-mi is one talented individual. She's capable of doing great things in her life. Trying our spicy wings is one of them.

@@tanakakhan Given Somi is good friends with most of Twice, and Uncle Roger has a Twice fixation (they're the Kpop group you get tiny snippets of in some of his videos - like when he says "Fancy!") I could see that being chaos.

Esther's a tough broad, I mean she not only asks for everything extra spicy, but actually also eats the dishes extra spicy. It's not likea gimmick where someone just order really spicy food and suffer. Good job! :) Love this series.

Too funny, I own an apartment building 3 blocks away from that Pecking House restaurant. I will have to check it out the next time I am in NYC.
I've been to Rowdy Rooster and their chicken sandwiches are FIRE (maybe spice pun intended). If anyone is ever in NYC y'all should give it a go on your itinerary. Definitely keep a few Mango Lassi on hand; it does help and it's also delicious.

I really liked that in this case it was more about enjoying a good spice. I feel like on the internet its all about withstanding the pain and recording it but thats not what real life is like. We enjoy spice and she did that well. Another element of Jeon that I really appreciated was her ability to talk about msg. It has such a stigma behind it but the reality is that its in more food than we think and its ok.
