- On this episode, a woman is driving without headlights on and is all over the road. She takes forever to pull over and then slows rolls the police to stop. Immediately upon approaching her the officer smells alcohol. She claims to not have had any drinks to start and then admits she did. She refuses to take certain tests and becomes aggravated and belligerent. Ultimately is arrested but continues the push back. Upon arriving at the office she continues the poor behavior.

I live in New Mexico and I thank these police officers for taking this drunk driver off our streets. We've had some horrible incidents here and she is very drunk and her behavior is down right disgusting!!!!!

To keep police on the roles, our police forces are therefore dumbed down because standards are lowered and we’re a poorer society for it. And around and around it goes. I wish there could be a hard reset. Police forces get to start all over with high standards, both physically and mentally. Get it right this time.
It’s either these comments about officers needing a raise to deal with drunk idiots or that they need to lose their job because the are “coddling” the suspects. There is no happy medium.

Why exactly is it shame on the parents? I’m confused why parents you don’t know & were not in this video should be shamed because their ADULT child did the wrong thing. These comment sections are so stupid. If the suspect calls or cries for their parent on a traffic stop you would say “you’re an adult, you don’t get to call for mummy & daddy” and then in the next breath if the adult suspects parents “never told them no and shame on the parents for raising an entitled adult”. There seems to be a boomer handbook that lists all the same generic comments to copy & past in the comment sections. I get so much second hand embarrassment reading these comments.

What the hell does her ex boyfriend have to do with this? I've seen other people use their past "stories" of abuse on these traffic stops. It's very strange. They think being a victim of some sort will help them get out of the trouble they are in.

Law enforcement in New Mexico always seems to be very professional and patient. It's a shame the courts dismiss and plead so many cases down to nothing.
A drunk driver with 10 alcohol and drug related arrests struck our 24 year old son in a head-on collision 10 days ago. The driver was 41 years old and died in the scene. He had 3 children, 2 step-children, and a new grandbaby. He had a valid license, a valid registration, and ZERO insurance. Blessedly, our son survived but has a long road of recovery ahead of him. He has to be air lifted from out of state to a Level 1 trauma center. These drunks don't know the destruction they cause families. They don't care until the destruction has happened, and then it's only for themselves.
It's fun to laugh at these DUI arrestees until you remember the tragedy they cause. I'm sorry for your son's accident.

I'm not sure she was able to do the math. Let's see... For 18 to 21, it's often .02, and .08 is four times that. But if it's .08 for 18 to 21, then the limit for 21 and above is .32.

I didn't know this hit apparently the cops can take you in with BAC lower then the legal limit if they judge you are too impaired to drive. I understand that's to make sure they can charge the DUI even with drugs that don't appear on a breathalyzer, but still why even bother with the limit anyway?

Oh really?! Wow… So I had an unlucky experience like ten years ago that I learned a lot from in terms of getting pulled over and the field sobriety tests.
My friend and I drove to a bar to go play pool. He was drinking, I wasn’t. We met more friends there and they ordered a pitcher of beer to share. They poured their glasses and there was a little bit left that I got a glass and drank. It was literally about 3 swallows of PBR. My friend drank his fairly quick and asked if I could take him to his gf’s house and we left.
I started my car and my headlight went out. So I turned on my brights, and would turn off the brights if a car was approaching. I get pulled over for not having the headlight. I pulled into a gravel parking lot.
It was two cops in one car. I was honest about everything, even explaining exactly how much beer was in my cup and that I just drank the 3 swallows of it about 5 mins ago. They want me to do field sobriety tests. Sure, no problem, I mean I’m totally sober.
So, I failed the dexterity test on my fingers apparently, I failed the alphabet test because I said “x, y, AND z” because, “There’s no ‘AND’ in the alphabet.” Then I failed one part of the walk and turn because I did not stay in the starting position as he explained the test. And I failed the one legged test because I had platform sandals on and I was on gravel, twisting my ankle a bit losing balance.
They did not offer or ask me to do a pbt, and I was arrested for a DUI. At the station (I think, maybe it was the jail) they asked if I was on drugs. It pissed me off and that was the only time I raised my voice and said to give me a blood test. Of course I did not have drugs or pot or anything in my system. But I was still taken into jail to spend the night.
The next morning, guard wakes us up and he calls my name to come to the bars to hand me something. I’ve never been in jail, don’t know what is going on. It’s a piece of paper from the assistant states attorney telling me not to plead guilty, get a lawyer, my BAC was 0.03!
To preface why that happened, I had been R’d and be@ten by an ex 6 months prior and I had to go to the emergency room to save my life once I escaped. Therefore, the police and state stepped in and were pressing the charges against him. The state had been working on the case at the time of my “DUI” and where the state’s attorney was on my side, the assistant state’s attorney was defending my side for the state, they personally hand wrote me a note once they heard and looked over the information on my arrest, seeing it was bs.
So, I go to court that morning and ask for a court appointed lawyer as I was not working. I SHOULD HAVE HIRED A LAWYER. I didn’t get a DUI, it was dropped down to Reckless Driving. Which is bullsh•t considering I was only driving with a headlight that had gone out while I was away from home.
So then, years later, I had a taillight out I didn’t know about, it’s 2:00 AM on a Friday night in a college town, and I (young enough to seem like I’d be in college) had to drive past the bars to go to a gas station to put gas in so I wouldn’t have to in the morning before work.
I get pulled over, so I put out my menthol cigarette, roll down my window. Lady cop tells me why she pulled me over and asked if I was drinking because she smelled fireball whiskey on me. I laughed and said no, I haven’t drank anything, but I did just put out a menthol cigarette which maybe you have mistaken minty menthol for the smell of cinnamon whiskey…? And I tell her I’d like to do a PBT or a blood test.
She goes back to the car where the officer training her is still sitting, and he comes to talk to me. He said if I’d like to do a pbt I can. But he said it in a tone as if I was bluffing. He must’ve thought I was because he approached me with the breathalyzer in hand, just had to put the clean straw on.
I blew zeroes, they gave me a written warning for my back light and let me go.
That is what should have happened in the first incident. So I make sure it never happens again.
As soon as there is any indication the person appears/smells drunk. Cops should be allowed to stop talking with them. Cuff, back seat, test, jail.
The patience these cops have... jeez.
