This is a reoperation using Conjoint Fascial Sheath (CFS) to treat severe blepharoptosis. The video includes patient blinking 5 years after surgery.
Patients with severe blepharoptosis are most interested in whether blinking will become normal after surgery. This video includes results 5 years after Conjoint Fascial Sheath (CFS) surgery.
We will also observe changes over year 1 and 5.
It’s been almost 15 years since I’ve been performing this surgery, but patients wonder why it isn’t mainstream- if CFS isn’t in fact a new surgical method.
Not all surgeons can perform CFS surgery. How much CFS is removed, how they’re fixed, how they’re cared for post operation, etc. are all very important.
Also, it’s a high level difficulty operation that requires the ability to perform reoperation in case of relapse.
This explains why they’re not mainstream.
Also, when performing surgery for severe blepharoptosis, the position of eyebrows and movement of forehead should always be considered. Sometimes, a forehead lift may be necessary in prior.
Therefore, if the forehead isn’t dealt with, you will not see good results. Ophthalmologists in particular cannot treat the forehead and aren’t aware of the Conjoint Fascial Sheath (CFS) surgery, thus cannot perform them.
