Summer days were filled with suntanning and spending almost all of my time with my friends. We walked or biked down to the creek to play in the cool water on those hot summer days. We ran out into the field next to my house to find out favorite spot on a lush green hillside where we sat and talked. We could see the railroad tracks below us and the 4 lane highway just beyond the tracks. We shared our dreams and secrets and all the while my radio played in the background. I took my music everywhere so wherever I was I could hear those Bee Gees songs or Abba, Journey, ELO and many others were not only a part of my life but also a part of me. Whenever I hear songs like More Than A Woman it takes me back to those carefree summers and awakens that little bit of my heart that's still a teenager. I was a huge Tavares fan at the time but the Bee Gees version was the one that was not only good but great. I think it comes down to the tempo. The Robert Stigwood Organization (RSO) was on-fire at the time.

In the mid 70s, they changed w the times and started recording disco music and their popularity exploded w SNF. Unfortunately, their popularity waned after SHF in 79...they just couldnt get away from the unfortunate branding of disco kings!!

I was 11 years old when the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack came out and I distinctly remember the first time I heard "How Deep is your Love". At the time, Kmart had a music section. While my parents were shopping, I went back there to look around. "How Deep is your Love" was playing and smack dab in the middle of the section was a girl singing along and belting it out at the top of her lungs.
I can’t decide which version of “More Than A Woman” is fantastic, the one by The Bee Gees or the other by Tavares. Both are equally excellent. And they both have been turned into musical masterworks by DiscoCat. What more than I say, except that Robin and Maurice Gibb are smiling down from heaven.
