I think after the events of the first movie, Doug just said "f*ck it, I'm not getting involved!". Doug definitely had the right idea here!
For The Hangover 3 you could just play the whole movie

Because? I'm not saying it's a great movie by any measure. Just context is kind of important. Example we can sin how it's only ever Doug who ends up in some sort of situation where the others have to find them. We could sin why these guys continue to be friends with Allan, which is something that is brought up in the movie it's self. We could sin John Goodman for some arbitrary reason. The black Doug white Doug thing would be sinnable except I've had several instances, some involving me where I had to be described as my race with my name to avoid confusion. I actually had my life threatened because they had the wrong Evan. Oh and we can sin all the call backs to the first movie.

I mean at least it has a fresh and different story unlike hangover 2, and I have so much fun when I watch the movie especially at the ending where they are back in vegas, I felt sweaty and gross everytime I watch Hangover 2 because of the disgusting city they were in, and the prostitutes and the monkey and the other really gross things really isn't funny and is just unappealing to watch
Plus I love how they brought back Jade from the first movie and gave Alan an actual arc where at the end he learns to grow up and take accountability for his actions
It is still a shitty movie of course, its a hangover movie after all, but I prefer it over 2 any day
Hangover Part III was just Todd Phillips saying, "fuck comedy!"
Watching Todd’s entire career post the first Hangover movie is literally just watching a man fall out of love with comedy. First he made Hangover 2 dark as hell, then made Hangover 3 even darker, then did a comedic drama based on a true story about illegal arms dealers with War Dogs and finally just abandoned comedy altogether and did Joker

I am of the opinion that Hangover 2 should have SHOWN all the hijinks from the 1st movie and how they went from situation to situation. I would have loved seeing that, and I can't believe it wasn't presented as an idea
they couldn't do that because there wouldn't have been enough time in three nights to do all the hijinks they show in the pictures.

@@iunderstanphotography2780 They begin at night already, then the amount of alcohol and destruction in the hotel room alone would have taken a lot of time to do. Then all the other stuff like getting married and going to Mike Tyson's house and stealing a tiger and managing to sneak it into the hotel, getting a belly button ring, stealing a cop car, spending time at a strip club, spending time gambling, parting with Carottop, fighting, going to the hospital, swimming in the fountain, there's just not enough time in one night. I know it's a comedy, and I'm taking it too seriously, but it's impossible. The driving around alone would have taken a lot of time.

The Law & Order joke absolutely floored me. I always thought it was strange to have the same actor/actress play a different character in the same series.
If you think that's strange watch tv shows and movies made by the bbc, old ones, new ones it's like there's only 10 british actors working in england at the same time.
ABSOLUTELY hilarious!! And we're not even talking crossovers here, I'm talking SVU having Rollins, Novak, the Dr from House, Paget Brewster, and ESPECIALLY the guy who plays Lewis, the socio that kidnapped Liv. These are the small jokes we can enjoy lol.
Is the movie an exact copy of the first? Yes. Does it do everything in a more extreme way? Also yes. Still like it.

There are so many ways they could’ve done the same blackout idea and not made it the exact same movie. Like have Mr Chow be laying low in Thailand and notice them so he drugs them and kidnaps them as revenge or have them drunkenly get lost in the wilderness and have to get back there are different ways to do a sequel compared to what they actually did

I lived in Bangkok when this was being filmed. The Thais were pissed! You also cannot get from Bkk to Phuket by boat in a few hours. One is in the Gulf of Thailand the other Bay of Bengal. Also, also Thai monks are in orange not saffron. Yes, there are places with women dancing at 10am in the morning. Not many but they use to go until 4am in Bkk legally and after hours never ends in Patpong. 2 years living in Bkk was an adventure! Katoy are people too, there are some that really do equal the beauty of woman all the right parts included. Easy to spot because of body fat, and 99% of time not trying to fool anyone but living who they want to be.
I worked as an extra on the film and am in the go go scene in the background. They actually filmed a scene of the wolf pack entering the go go bar at night but it was never used in the movie. I was excited but yeah it was a bit disappointing when I finally saw it. Basically the same plot of the first Hangover but in Thailand. Comedy sequels are notoriously known for being bad but it was good that at least they set the movie in a different location and in Bangkok. Yeah its a crazy city that goes all night and basically the wild west of the East.
Should be angrier about the government cracking down on tourism and its effect on the GNP than a Hangover movie
The Hangover was good as a stand alone one-off but the two sequels weren't needed.
The first one was the best, followed by 3 then 2. This is how most sequel movies get developed. *The first one did alright?? Wow, let's punch that shit up to 11 and make a new one" they did this with the hangover, Harold and Kumar, road trip/euro trip etc etc. I could probably find 100 more examples and looked it up and not just picked examples from the top of my head. I'm not saying it's a totally bad strategy, since sometimes blowing it up to 11 was a good idea for silly fun movies
No3 in the hangover series has some interesting twists and plot points that connected to the first movie and went off the trope. Could've done another blackout/someones missing movie but instead decided to team up with chow who the fans loved, and it was a cool half heist/chase movie, with a wicked twist. I enjoyed it once or twice, but I don't think I could rewatch any of these like Indo for great movies
I always watch the first one over and over. Never went back to the other two.

I wouldn't really say terminator 2 or the dark night fits into what I was saying, like, they've got new storylines even though they are punched up a bunch from their prequels. They're not just carbon copies of the first movies storyline, think more like the Jurassic park movies, they're all exactly the same, but each one there's a bigger dinosaur but it's the same trapped in an island movie

Muscle relaxers and ADHD medication is actually, benzodiazepines (like Xanax) and amphetamines (or a similar stimulant) so yes they would actually make you go crazy. The benzodiazepines would have the same effect as being seriously drunk without any anxiety for consequences, while the stimulants would make you be able to not fall asleep and wanting to run around doing dumb stuff. It is the only thing well-researched in this movie.
These movies seem like "Scared Straight"-style warnings about the how stupid it is to get drunk and/or high, and yet they're supposed to be funny.
No, actually, they seem more like comedies. Even if this specific humour is not your thing, it's clearly a comedy.
I understand what you mean, just like Family Guy, it ends with morals and is supposed to deter stupid asses from screwing over their surroundings and go where their dicks lead them.

It was pretty funny, though not as good as the first one. Yeah many of the sins are valid, but that doesn't mean the movie isn't funny. If a movie were perfectly realistic as to not warrant sins, then the movie wouldn't be very entertaining or funny to watch. Real life is boring.

Two missing sins :
1) If someone lost a finger, the bandages wouldn't be spotless.
2) He seemed completely oblivious to the pain of Losing a finger, while I was hurting for three days when I scrapped a tiny part of my skin.

As someone who used to mix muscle relaxers, Adderall and alcohol when i was a dumb 20 yr old...i can confirm that it actually does kinda make you go crazy...It starts out as a high, but the more you drink the more unstable you become until you finally pass out...sooo it is actually plausible that they did crazy sh *t on that cocktail. Also it depends on the the muscle relaxers, only certain ones had this effect.
but it is implausible they could do all of this sh*t. Uses plausible deniability to suggest otherwise.

Monks rarely make a vow to "not drink". Monasteries are filled with old, and delicious wine. They drink it all the time actually. So one of them taking a vow not to drink would be rather unlikely, especially when you consider WHY they take the vows of silence in the first place, drinking doesn't have the same association as speaking. But that's only one sin removal lol.

I’d love for Galifianakis to play Calendar Man in the Jeffrey Wright Gotham HBO show. I feel his inherent like ability while playing weird characters could be great at drawing the audience in but I’m curious to see what he could do adding that to a darker role like Calendar Man.
