Thanks for this JS - I thought I already knew this stuff, but you've just opened a can of education on me. Great comparison between the different tiers of Managed Storage, particularly on how bursting works.
Great content as usual John, thanks! I’d like even more understanding about Ultra disk, it has some quirks with what it can and cannot do. Would be great to hear you speak about how to use it in designs.
Can you just make a video on azure calculator. I like to know the detailed pricing of resources. If I have to quote a price to a client I am not able to calculate all resource price. Example like vm instance or app service plan. Because I miss to add some of the resources while calculating.
That would be very scenario driven as to what elements to add. I could create such a video but just wonder how useful it would be. Anyone else want to see this?
@@NTFAQGuy video should be made on this. There are lot of things that need to be consider, where there is no clear picture what resources should we add, to get perfect cost of that resources or services.
I think very important topic about pricing was not covered, that is that one pays for each IOP in HDD, SSD but not in Premium SSD and hence depending on workload you might end up paying more for HDD, SSD then Premium SSD
Ultra Disks are really cool, but for now they are available not for every VM sku (e.g. West Europe and Standard_DXXds_v4), and also Linux is not able to provide direct IO for them. But they are even cheaper for Oracle's redo log filesystem comparing to recommended P40 because of small size and high enough throughput ans IOPS. And thanks for the comprehensive and informative video!
@John Savill just 2 questions : - As you said for your dsv3 VM, you also have a Max burst uncached disk. Therefore, do we might 2 x 30 minutes buckets (VM + disk) for burst performances, isn't it ? - As you said, managed disks are also stored in a storage account. If we have 2 data disks on one VM, do they will be stored on the same storage account ? Therefore, will we have 2 x shared disks’ IOPS ? Thank you 🤗
hehe not required but thank you. Just subscribe ;-)

What a instructor. Sir please keep your concepts details and in-depth. You are different , skilled and respectful
I appreciate that!
I am back to this video after a month, a great refresher on which disk performance metrics to look at. Thanks again John!
Thank you for all your hard work, your videos are fantastic
Glad you like them! Thank you!

I did mention that.
Great information, thank you

@@jlou65535 each managed disk has own IOPS etc. vm has one bucket of burst not per disk
Marvelous
Love the video.
Thanks! 🤙
Thank you, Great content :)
Thanks for the class. How can I pay you a coffee or a beer?
