Shame that the big text is so often in front of what is going on.

What is your favorite full face mask and why. I live in Canada and have been thinking of getting the Draeger.

My favorite is the Dräger PND, because of its distinctive features. 1. easy pressure equalization using the clips that are operated from outside, works much better for me than nose blocks. 2. quick release system which is also easy to don. 3. p connectors that allow one to switch gas supply without removing the mask. The Dräger is very well designed and exquisite stuff. Rescue teams like it, albeit it is definitely not on the cheap side.

hello i liked your blog review of drager mask, however i could not find any information on the p port whether it can fit the newer xtx reg and where can i buy those adapter. could you please guide me to it? thank you!

+sept nimittaganon Hello Sept, there are no P port adaptors and I strongly advise against trying to make one. The (X)TX first stages with P port have their P port body part extremely well fitted to the second stage main body. This has to be an absolutely safe connection, something an adaptor cannot achieve. In fact, when a single(!) stage some time ago had its P port broken, Dräger recalled a whole batch of regs to be sure and safe. Also, an adaptor would make the overall size to long for safe use.
Luckily, you can use the (X)TX second stage with either TX or XTX first stages; the second stage is the same, as it is for the ordinary sports diver XTX set. The XTX first stage is actually certified for use by Aqualung, please see here (Google translate): translate.google.de/translate?sl=de&tl=en&js=y&prev=_t&hl=de&ie=UTF-8&u=http%3A%2F%2Fprofrie-dive.de%2Fproduktdetails%2Fproduct%2Ferste-stufe-apeks-xtxtx-100.html&edit-text=&act=url
Personally I have both a XTX as well as a TX first stage in my dual reg set setup. Ask your dealer to get you the XTX first stage. If he can't, then order the second stage only and get a XTX from elsewhere. As I mentioned above, the XTX setup is certified by Aqualung.

      thanks for the reply
i thought that first stage connect to second stage via standard hose, why do i need a p port version here?
so i need both first and second stage XTX in a p port version, instead of standard version?
do you have a link to this set? i will just go to my local dealer and ask for it
      thank you!

sept nimittaganon The P connector is for connecting the second stage to the Dräger fullface mask. The hose between first and second stage is a standard Apeks hose or any compatible hose.
Only the second stage is a Dräger-specific TX reg (there's no XTX here) with P connector instead of a normal mouthpeice port. The first stage is an ordinary XTX first stage.
I don't have Apeks order numbers as your dealer needs to be an accepted special ops Apeks dealer. Normal sports dive shops won't get access to the special ops stuff and can't even order it, despite the fact that Apeks actually markets the Dräger PND also as a sports diver fullface mask. Talk about left hand not talking to right hand.
I strongly suggest to get in contact with dealer experienced with handling and servicing fullface masks for special ops, such as police, fire brigades, water safety, etc. A plain dive shop will most probably be blocked by Apeks as they don't want to deal with them, but only with hub dealers which are able to correctly handle end customers themselves. Please find an expert shop near you that actually has sold Dräger fullface masks and regs in the past.

+sept nimittaganon Please see also thediveo-e.blogspot.de/2012/11/drager-pnd-configuration.html ... The P port is the big round end where otherwise a mouthpiece would be. Other than that, standard hoses between 1st and 2nd stage.
