So my father may not have served in WW2, but he was a 20 year old British Paratrooper of the Kings Own regiment, in what became known as the forgotten war, Korea 1950s. We had many chats about his service there. The bravery of all forces, on all sides is astounding . He died almost a year ago, still talking to his fallen comrades, Love you Dad.
@@HO-bndk To be honest this was because of the height the British paratroopers dropped from, it was too low for a reserve chute, and because the British chute was the most reliable in ww2.

Back then, the armed forces in the UK were fighting against the Nazi's, don't forget in WWII the Nazi's relentlessly bombed London and England had to create literal sectors to defend England's airspace from the Nazi's. I highly suggest you learn about the Battle of Britain and educate yourself on the dangers England directly faced from being so close to Nazi occupied France. The southern most point of Britain was less then 30 km from the northern most point of Nazi-occupied France, the only thing between them was the English Channel. Are you trying to shame them for defending themselves against the Nazi's? Because it sounds like it.

Anyone wondering why the containers which hang under the man are swinging about so much, its not the kit, it is because they are very light for this jump. A full container can weigh as much as the paratrooper and its a quicker, straighter drop with a harder landing.

Remember D-Day parachutists didn't have reserve chutes, very brave!
Many of them also lost their kit bags as soon as they jumped out of the plane.
US Army paratroopers always jumped with a reserve. British paras did not.
