25:02 This look of horror on Jay's face when Adam starts breaking down his reaction to Anissa is everything. Like for the people who don't know, the reactions to Anissa must seem very strange. Like I have a friend who hasn't read the comics, and he was like "Damn that chick was badass, I hope we see more of her" and apparently whatever expression I made when he said that made him want to pick up the comics.
They will never show that moment form the comics, Never Ever.

Yeah I think it was a really clever use of dramatic irony, a way for the show to communicate with fans of the comics “we know who she is and what she does”
Its the same in this comics at that point if i recall. She also pushes Mark into a crater on the end of first encounter. I guess its one of her things. So its a 'bonus' tease of other horrific scene thats gonna happen, but would probably look the same even without thay scene appearing later. Due to comic accuracy

Adam… I feel for you. So much. Anissa’s introduction sent *chills* down my spine, far more than any of Omni-Man’s fights, Battle Beast against the Guardians, or even Shrinking Rae’s ‘Death’ scene.
I’m both ecstatic & absolutely *horrified* for what might happen later on.
I respect the hell out of Adam for not spoiling the events of the comics (which could potentially spoil the show) while also making it abundantly clear that Anissa is going to do some heinous shit in the future

Lots of thoughts about this ep. First, the joke at the comic con perfectly captures one of the best, most iconic bits from the entire comic run and translates it amazingly to this medium. They could not possibly have bodied that harder.
Adam's reaction to Anissa was everything. Really curious to see how they end up tackling her character in the show..
They will never show what she does to Mark in the comics. There’d be too much backlash, that moment will be cut out entirely and they will do something different with her.
@@matthewterlaga3022 Maybe they won't visually show what she does to him but they could allude to some things. Perhaps they will tone down certain aspects of her character.
Tbh I want them to go as all out as they can, it would shed some light on male victims and maybe spark a conversation about it. They probably will tone it down/offscreen but allude to it, but it would be extremely ballsy if they didn’t.
Poor Adam. You can see the fear in his eyes as soon as he realized who she was.
So the big thing of the episode was Anissa showing up which got Adam shook (and for good reason) but also can we give it up for Donald this episode LETS GO 👏👏👏
There's never been a clearer example of a person who read the source material vs someone who's totally oblivious. haha! Nolan forced Mark to catch a train, so I think they're going to do the full Anissa story, true to form.

Adam must be forgetting. Mark did meet Anissa around this time in the comics, but the circumstances were slightly different. He was getting lunch with his mom when Anissa showed up before. Also, I'm surprised Adam didn't say or do anything when Anissa mentioned that "he's coming".

There is an important reveal about the Viltrumites that I think HAS to happen before they even consider her doing that thing that we can't say.

@@Observer-OHmmm...how to say this with minimal spoilers... Her motivations for her actions are not strictly personal. Viltrumites have a specific goal she is trying to contribute to, albeit in an especially messed up way. If they do that scene before revealing those other motivations, it would make an already touchy subject seem to come completely out of nowhere.
I think it is explain in multiple ways much earlier. Just read the comics m8. Whole major reveal Nolan will make to Allen in that prison is there are only around 50 viltrumites left, so its pretty obvious they need to reproduce. The thing about "forcing themselves" onto weaker individuals is only explained though after Annissa violates Mark. It doesnt need more explanation. It fits unfortunatelt quite understandably into viltrumites barbaric invaders nature... its vile and self explanatory, so i think it will be more of a shock when it happens and Nolan will justify it after everything, like its natural for him. It will only force Mark to change viltrum ways later on. Its important part of it all to additionaly show how Nolan, even after all this still is very much flawed by old ways of viltrum. Even after changing so much already

As horrific as it was, we rarely ever see something like that depicted THAT way in media so, in a weird way, props to Robert Kirkman.

The moment that they were on the island you could just SEE the more the fight went the more horrified Adam was cause HE KNOWS why Anissa is sooooo hated

I was curious about why Adam and people of the comment section were acting the way there were so I spoiled myself and went to the wiki. All I have to say now is "I understand".
One more layer to the joke that has been pointed out by a lot of other channels about the Seance Dog author is that while he didn't look like him in the comics, this one is designed to look like Robert Kirkman.

It doesn't look like him at all, also Robert Kirkman is a writer, not an illustrator. Ryan Ottley makes way more sense.
I feel like Adam, and all of us comic readers, were so shocked by Anissa that we barely caught the Conquest set-up.
As someone who HAS NOT read the comics but KNOWS who Anissa is and what she does, I can’t tell you how much I’ve been anticipating this reaction ALL DAY. lol. I partly wanted to skip to it while watching because Adam’s reaction the scene holds the most weight to me of all those who react to this show. He’s been the most important person to watch react because of how he responds to things he knows that we don’t, and also his facial expressions/side looks at Jay. I sometimes go back and watch their reaction to season 1 just for “the scene”. Great stuff. That scene/moment in this episode and reaction will definitely go down as one of the best next to Episode 6 of Squid Games. 😂
I haven't read the comics, but I don't think I've ever seen Adam that terrified and serious, and now I'm scared too!!
I have never seen Adam have an anxiety attack like this. I can relate because I dont even know who Anissa is and i personally panicked.
When Anissa showed up, I literally yelled, "NO! NO! I THOUGHT WE HAD MORE TIME BEFORE HER!"
This is when she popped up....because she came before you know who....at this point....we had no idea she would do what she did later.....

I've gotta say, I am really happy that no one is outright spoiling the thing in the comments of this, I've seen lots of reactions where everyone immediately jumps down and starts talking about it. This might have been one of my favorite reactions I've seen to her appearance as well..lol, we got both sides of the spectrum.

What's so bad about Anissa? Allen seems to have her number and is outsmarting her. That guy with cyborg eye is the one who has me worried.
Adam, she was in the comics once before the event. She showed up basically the same way, without the kaju. Hopefully the big guy is in the next episode, but I guess next season.

I haven't read the comics, so to see Adam so shook kinda concerns me. This is yet another show that's WAY better than it should be.
I have had that breakup. I still mourn that breakup. She wanted nothing but the best for me, I still wanted to try to make it work from across a continent 😞

They've started to subtly hint at what's really happening with the Viltrumites this season and I feel that has to fully come out in order for Anissa's later decisions to make sense. So they do seem to be heading in that direction. I don't know man, Amazon doesn't see to be holding back with some of their properties. They may just go for it. Let's see how this one plays out.

The look on Jay's face when Adam tells him he's not doing the bit right now and how he's just looking at Adam. As Adam is trying to not give everything away is telling. Also to everyone saying they won't do it cause of the back-lash seems to have forgotten that this show doesn't pull any punches and in fact try's to hit harder. For god sakes the the train scene in season 1, Rex just took a bullet to the head last episode and they showed it. I don't believe they will not do it. The true question is how they will do it. My guess is they will do the lead up then pan away with sound to leave little question to what is happening most likely at the end of the episode.
Anissa does appear at this time in the comics, to check on Mark's progress after Thraxa.
But even though I knew this was coming, it'd be a lie if I said I wasn't extremely scared when she did show up...

For people who read the comics a while ago Anissa's showing up can be kind of confusing... But in the way Adam showcased it, actually it ain't that soon for her to appear. But yeah, you guys are in for a treat. Certainly I can assure you that this season will be the calmest from now on 😅

I feel that since they took that long break between episodes it was to make the break between season 2 and 3 shorter. I think we will get season 3 sooner then we think.

Just like Adam, I freaked out in terror when Anissa showed up.
I kind of expect it to be explained it in the comics, so maybe someone can help me out:
Wasnt there this whole thing about Mark having to prepare earth for Viltrumite rule or they would just send a few viltrumites and raze the planet or something? Wasnt that the whole reason why Mark was allowed to live when he was dying on that bug planet?
So why did they send Anissa to try to convince him? Why not either go "btw, you only have this amount of time left to prepare the planet" or straight up start attacking? Why are the Viltrumites hesitating now?
The first meeting between these two is just them talk, THAT doesn't happen until way later.
THEY MADE THAT CRATER ON PURPOSE! They *knew* that was going to make us combic fans scared something was getting moved way up in the story...

And last, we need to stop and put some respect on the Mark/Amber relationship in season 2. I think we mostly all agreed it was weak and poorly executed in season 1, but it became the absolute beating heart of season 2 and they handled the falling out perfectly. Just exquisite writing and characterization. And Steven Yeun always stays bodying it, but Zazie Beetz needs awards for her performance here. Just an incredible job by both of them.

Originally Mark and Debbie were on their day off when Anissa appeared, but Debbie being there doesn't provide anything.
But in this, Mark and Amber were the ones who encountered Anissa, and I feel like this builds toward the breakup better than the comic.

@@nihlify I mean, there are a few folks like you, but the vast majority of folks - even those, like me, who think Amber was RIGHT to be furious about the dishonesty and absenteeism in season 1 - agree that their relationship was handled badly in season 1. Even the showrunners acknowledged that Amber’s character deserved better than the writers gave her in season 1.

I disagree that she was right to be frustrated, but I still understand the reasoning. Just that I’m pretty sure that they could've and should've handled it better instead of having her know that Mark was Invincible and never said anything.
@@Zack_Zander its not that. She had reason to be pissed. If they went not acknowledging that in s2 - that would be poor writing, cause yeah. It made no sense for her to be "right" in that discussion, as her arguments werent there. Her feelings were understandable. But now, seeing how she approaches Mark and his situation in s2 - its clear, she was just pissed he treated her as dumb and didnt tell her earlier, leaving her to figure it out on her own and being upset all the time. She threw temper tantrum and got over it, from what we saw - she understood and probably apologized seeing how she feels now guilty for even taking his time.

Anissa does show up in this part of the comic as per my knowledge I don't know why adam thinks it's way too soon
the event of which we shall not speak of *for obvious reasons* takes place way ahead in the story. So yeah the show is going according to the comic with few changes
