And Melissa was actually stronger than other Lunarians just for believing that they use the glory and beauty of the moon in the wrong way. She understood the true beauty of the moon. That alone separates her from the chosen one the only other connection being her power and descent. Essentially her banishment and loss of her powers ultimately set her free. It was a win-win in a sense. Her being a lunarian was basically her own prison and when she was cursed to lose her powers she was essentially set free from said prison. I personally see her powers getting stripped as freedom instead of punishment. She was no longer bound to a family she could never please and no longer had to abide by rules she could never have the heart to follow. Honestly a blessing compared to what she had to endure for years
