It is a sequel to the 1998 PlayStation game Brigandine: The Legend of Forsena, and features the same core gameplay with a new setting. The player chooses one of six nations of the continent of Runersia and must guide it to conquer the others and unify the land using powerful Rune Knights and their summoned monsters. Plot Synopsis

The game features a multi-faceted war between six nations, five of which bear powerful armor relics called Brigandines, for complete control of the continent of Runersia. The conflict was instigated in the year 781 by a series of consequential events: the Norzaleo Kingdom's monarch dying under unexplained circumstances, civil unrest in the Holy Gustava Empire precipitating an invasion of Norzaleo, the disappearance of the Republic of Guimoule's president, a revolution within the Mana Saleesia Theocracy, the emergence of the Shinobi Tribe, and the United Islands of Mirelva seizing the opportunity provided by the chaos to plunder the mainland.
Great Classic games gets it sequel? Does it live up to the original? Well here is my take on it. (Popping out more reviews soonish)
In terms of gameplay and improvements, it overruns the original! Story, though... not so much. Oh yeah, its now out on PS4 along with a new update, adding new monster class changes and many other quality of life changes. Difficulty can now be customized to fit your playstyle: like having a mana advantage with hard AI, etc.

@@SugiJRPG The update is on switch too. Lots of customization on the difficulty! Except for challenge mode but you can still toggle whether the enemy will guard the castle or not. One of the victory conditions is to have one invading knight stay on the castle hex for 12 turns. So if the AI guards the castle hex, it would get even more difficult.
I just stumbled upon this game randomly browsing PS4 marketplace and it immediately captured my attention. The gameplay reminds me of the Sega Genesis game Master of Monsters.
This game need to be on PC. Remind me a lot of Age of Wonder games but with Japanese Medieval Fantasy Aesthetic.
It wouldn't be too hard to port to be honest.
By "Japanese" you just mean "European Celtic, but with extremely large boobs".

I'm buying the switch just for this game! I've played the original and grand edition again and again. The replayability value of this game is really good because even after you finished all countries, you'll want to play it again in a few weeks or months with a different strategy or character build-up (cross-classing).
I hope they release a patch or update and introduce a harder than hard mode where the AI just keeps invading left and right and upgrading their troops (w/ cross classing) faster and maybe remove the time limit for the harder modes. I think the hard mode in this game looks kinda easy-normal to me as a Brigandine fan.
I totally understand and agree to some of your opinions, I kinda like that they kept it like the original (uniform sprites or models), I think it is one of the things that made this game iconic, but maybe having the character models look like the actual character art/image would be nice. Still, thankful a company made a sequel to the Brigandine game.
It's definitely a great game and i probably will be returning to it after some time (gotta finish backlog of other games).

@@paolocarreon8329 Fire Emblem Three Houses is great bang for the buck. Also Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition has seen good feedback, probably zelda. I haven't had time to play as much as switch as i wanted, so i only have 3 games so far. Fire emblem, zelda (which haven't started yet) and Brigandine.
There are some other JRPG games that i'm keeping my eyes on.

@@paolocarreon8329 It's a great game going to start new save on it, since i want to play with different house and get all those DLC benefits.
As years long fan of RPGs, and a guy who mainly plays for story, this is a very unique game for me.
Honestly, story is in between utter trash and hot garbage. It's so bad, it's kinda hilarious.
Normally I wouldn't even complete such a game.
Currently I'm on third playthrough, and ain't stopping😂
Tactical and strategical part is like a dry fish. The longer you chew, the more tasteful it becomes.
Factions are very different in my opinion too. Music does not sound the same, and generic battle portraits? Pff, try the very first Fire Emblem game, the one on nes. Not an issue.
I mean, story has always been the most important part in any rpg for me, and if I can enjoy this particular game, with its horrendous plot, I ain't complaining about small things😂
So if you enjoy tactical games, this one is definitely worth it.
Just waiting for that Parasite Eve remake/remaster. One day... One day.

thought i would be more excited for this game i loved the old one, but its like they made the same game with another flavor
I wanted perhaps more expanded experience. Thats my issue with this title, but it was enjoyable and perhaps ill return for my 2nd run soon.
Such a strange critism for a sequel. Same game with a different flavor is exactly what I am looking for in a sequel... At least of a game I really liked.
I just cruised to take a look at this game and decided to look at the review which turned into spoilers…learning that a game that has multiple factions have the same ending but one.. I mean you should really not say things like this and let us find out.. just tell us how you like the game without spoiling it. I’ll pass on this channel
Well first of all i'm sorry. But whether its the first Brigandine game or Fire Emblem Three houses, the endings are basically the same in terms of the battles (this is like every game out there), but the ending dialogues are obv different coz its different faction leaders.
Bullshit brabbling with random clips from the game not related to what that guy actually is tallking about. "Review" my ass.
Don’t play on easy and give a review of a game
Difficulty is just one aspect of design, quite minor one at modern-day if I may add.
