In 2018, Yunjin appeared as a contestant on the survival-reality show Produce 48, where she represented her then-company Pledis Entertainment. Yunjin was in 10th place, but her ranking dropped due to an instance where she lost a vote for the main vocal position in a performance, so she asked if she could try out for it again. The situation didn’t sit well with Korean netizens so her ranking dropped and she was eventually eliminated in 26th place.

She’s the member that caused me to give them a second look. I wasn’t really paying any attention to all the pre-debut hype and didn’t really like their debut title track. But somehow I came across one of her English interviews so I checked them out again and I’m so glad I did. It’s funny how some groups will have that one member that catches your attention and then pulls you into the group. Same thing happened with Yuqi and GIDLE for me.

love the bond these 5 girls have with each other. My heart goes out to Yunjin. When she was in PD48 that evil edit really ruined her reputation and destroyed almost all other opportunities she had to debut. She was only 16 and they had literally grown @ss men criticize and insult her acting like she put a gun to Nako's head. And let's be real, she slayed that ITTNW performance with Chaewon. I'm go glad she debuted and HYBE saw her potential. She was one of the best vocals that season
Yunjin's story is the epitome of what LE SSERAFIM is about 💪💪
Yunjin is born to be an idol. Her stage presence, her vocals, her dance, and her rapping surprised me in the very best way and her stunning visuals. She was made to be on stage and she is talented. She is everything I aspire to be because she is just eye-catching and attractive on stage. She is also very hilarious and I got into Lesserafim because she caught my attention and the iz*one members but mainly Yunjin. She stood out in Lesserafim and I love her. Even though I am not a fan of the production of her solo songs, I am touched and attracted by her lyricality. It's refreshing and she is changing the idol industry. Overall, I stan Lesserafim because of their music, and I like all of the members so much.
i agree but saying she was born with talent to be an idol is a lie. She trained hard for 4 year or more to become the idol we admire, i think saying she was just born with it is taking all her effort of all these years as granted. She is good because she trained hard for it and that's more admirable than "being born with talent"🖤🤍 fighting ❤️🔥

It very surprising and impressive how members were chosen. PD and staff did such a good job selecting and forming group. They truly do belong together

I will say this, everything in life will have its ups and downs. But the moment Yunjin wrote in her essay about her time as a trainee and her experiences, it all came together for her. Not gonna lie, thats why this group has a very special bond that no matter how much more successful they become it won't be broken.
its so poignant that Sakura be the one to ask Yunjin this question. Both of them have experienced failure, with Sakura she debuted 3x and she has spent 12 years training to be where she is now. She has moved from Japan to Korea, without knowing how to speak the language!!!! Yunjin came to South Korea from America, she made a trip 1/2 way across the planet only to be rejected in Produce 48, before being eliminated. Sakura made it to Iz-one but later the same group would disband!!! Both women have experienced so much turbulence and for Yunjin to write admission essays for colleges- its heart-wrenching to know with a flip of a coin Yunjin could have been a completely different person than the Idol we now know. The other 3 members listening and their shocked expressions--- you can feel their sympathy for Yunjin.
Yunjin deserves every bit of success she has now, and more.
"but if i'm being honest, never thought that i would have this back when all i needed was people who will stay" i'm so happy yunjin found the fimmies and fearnots. i'm so thankful to hybe for calling her before she fully gave up and moved on with school. le sserafim wouldnt be nearly the same without her. she is such a bright light and i really do believe she will change the idol industry like she wants. i know she is known for her confidence on stage but i really hope that off stage she still feels all of the love we have for her

You often have two families; the one you are born with, and the one you born to be with. Not everyone finds that second family, and life can be so utterly lonely without them. I'm glad she found her second family.

Ever since I saw her on P48 I continued to look for her to debut. Before Izone debut, after, every comeback, I constantly looked for Yunjin. I wondered if she was going to debut, if so when. Will she be in a group? Will she be a soloist? Did she leave her company? Or was Pledis just holding her hostage. Then HYBE said they were debuting a new girl group and I was praying Yunjin was in the group after reading the articles about a contestant is also in the group. There were rumors it was Sakura, Chaewon and Minju. I would’ve been happy with Minju, but it would’ve made it even better if Yunjin was there. Then I waited, continued to search about the upcoming group then as members were revealed I was so happy to see Yunjin finally making her debut. She was born to be an idol and she was meant to be in Lesserafim. I hope she achieves everything that she hoped and dreamed of after becoming an idol.
This is really touching! I am getting to know her more everyday! I wish I was into kpop during produce 48 so that I could have discovered her earlier.

I think it's also bec they want yunjin to express herself through words. sometimes INFJs couldn't stop themselves from getting too emotional when they're given physical comfort while talking. Yunjin also has a very matured aura (as part of the unnie line) so they must have known when she needed space.

and i believe this another reason and le sserafim are industry busters they dont want to follow the rules of the industry and more groups need to follow along with that because that kpop industry is so toxic from the fans down to the companies and this lets debut a song but lets sing and showcase that song for a whole year crap is annoying these artist give them the same treatment as an american artist singles and albums instead what they do in korea its so stupid to sit around and wait for a song when you know they could easily pop a song out in days and weeks
