You so right My wife bought me tickets for my birthday a hell of a present his concert was the 12 of March my birthday was the 14th of March my son was born on February 9Th on Travis Tritt birthday my son's name is Travis lol true story
Absolutely. I always liked his music growing up in the 90s-2000s. So, when I finally got to see him a couple years ago in concert, I was pretty excited for it. But man, I had no idea what a great musician he actually is. Just him and an acoustic guitar and he put on one heck of a show.
I saw Travis Tritt in '97, he played in Massachusetts. Joe Diffie and Trisha Yearwood opened. My first and only Country music concert. The biggest surprise was discovering Travis is a phenomenal guitar player!! It was fantastic! Travis came on, by himself, sat on a stool, just like he's doing on this video, and took requests for almost an hour!! It was the coolest thing I'd ever witnessed and I've been all over Europe through the 1980s attending more concerts than I can possibly count...hundreds! You name a 1970s and 1980s band and chances are I saw them. But Travis, he took showmanship to the next level! Love your channel, I'm a new subscriber and rookie guitar player at 61 years young lol I'm intrigued by your little lessons you give. I've learned a couple things, especially TOOL tunes!
Hey brother been a subscriber for two months now and loving every minute of it. I don’t even play the guitar, I just enjoy learning, and your enthusiasm and love for what you do is infectious. Bravo 👏
I saw TT back in the day when he would play a concert go to a bar afterwards and shut the bar down. Man can play his ass off! Middle of the concert he played solo for 45 mins before the band came back and finished the show.
Grew up on this song but the first time I ever heard Travis Tritt do it I had to learn every note he plays from beginning to end, and I still play it this way every time but still can’t get the soul that guy can put into it. He’s one of the most underrated pickers in country music
I subscribed to your channel today. I’m not a guitar player, I’ve been a church music director trained mostly in vocals. By watching your videos, I’m learning how to communicate better with guitarists and other band members. Thank for all you do. It’s greatly appreciated.
I’ve seen Travis 3 times. He’s a killer guitar player. He hangs out with Marty Stuart. They both jam together. Speaking of Marty. You should do “That’s Country “
Heck yeah man! They are awesome together. I remember when they were touring together back in the 90's. They had some great songs together. Speaking of Marty songs, I love watching him play his song "Tempted". He's a musical historian and instrument collector. That makes him even better in my book. Love how he's still using Clarence's Tele. That guitar could have sit in a closet for years and years, and just rotted away, but he's still making it make music.
I saw Travis at a small theatre in Fort Lauderdale where it was just him and a guitar on stage. Absolutely one of the best shows I've seen. He is an amazing musician and singer!! Love your channel Michael!
What's Happening is some BAD ASS picking skills that only a very few can match. That look on your face is the same look I get every time I watch that video and I watch it very often
Really nice. Tritt is way serious with the capacities and talents. Saw Charles play this in person 3 rows from his nose. Senior in high school had quite the enjoyment that evening arriving into starkville, ms from a high school golf match in time to enjoy the great Charlie Daniels. Not possibly forgettable. Amazing memory. Thank you.
Heck yea man, friggin love the country guitar sound!! ...this may be a lil off subject idk, I was/am a big CDB fan and worked w them once arnd 05’, which most of the day I spent hangin with Taz (he played keys and co-wrote w CD since I believe the beginning-ish). At the time I remember trying to figure out Devil Went Down to Georgia so I asked him about the theory (I was also learning), he said something like “we wrote it in D and the melody drove it home, the rest really don’t matter” ..a total lightbulb moment. That dude was so cool with some wild stories, the fun inappropriate kind, and I came away with a lot of great memories... Anyhow apologies for the rant, this vid gave me nostalgia. Thanks for the trip down memory lane, and Yes more country pickin’ vids!
AWESOME Michael!!!!! I think I learned the most from this video of any of yours I’ve watched. Love Travis…Love that song…have played it for years without understanding like I do now. Anyone else notice how little time it takes Michael to get 90% of the way to what Travis was doing…back to Guitargate to continue the journey!
Travis is one hell of a guitar player and many people don't really see that. I've covered his rendition of Long Haired Country Boy on my channel as well. I learned it by ear as I've never gotten guitar lessons. It's one heck of a fun song to play and sing. Your breakdown of the melody went waaay over my head haha but it was great hearing you discuss the mechanics of that song.
Great content, one of my favorite versions of the song. Thanks for the breakdown. I don't fully understand the theory you explained but understood enough to keep me inspired to keep playing. Your a great teacher, with such positive mojo. Thank you for the video.
I had the pleasure to see him at the former Lakeland Center in Lakeland Florida. at the time he was doing "Travis Tritt- A man and his guitar" tour. Was able to meet him back stage. This man is the most polite and down to earth person I've had the pleasure to be in the same room with. The show was knock down get up and move show I've ever seen and i've seen a lot of performers. No band was there, just him and his guitars for 90 mins. Even had a 12 string that he could make sing. By far he is the most underrated and recognized musicians in the industry. Would like to see you react to Keith Urban and his solos. Another great musician and performer.
Me too . I had a guitar when I was 16 , but no teacher . I am 65 and in this earlier time there was no internet ..,,,,, 😢 I am learning now . Not the same , but better than not to do it .🇨🇭
They arguably my favorite band right now. The lyrics of broke. Window serenade are amazing but I would vote for stone as it is a better guitar song. I could come up with a bunch of songs that would make good videos like Virginia, Song for you, colloque.
I think Travis is top ten in old school bad ass country pickers to ever do it and I enjoy playing his songs and singing along...but with that said.... I got to say to Mr. Palmisano ...you sir, in your knowledge level and with your ear to pick things apart and your skills on guitar make you an all-round bad ass yourself ...unreal dude ...awesome. Wish you were my teacher!!keep on brother!!
9:43 Somebody ppppllleeeaaassseee Michael clip this piece.... When riding that melody brings out that Palmisano train whistle!!! 😂🤣😂 Keep it up Mike! Man, I love this channel!
i love Travis' vocals but man oh man can he play...i've only ever seen him playing with the band...he has some amazing finger work..deffinately something new for me to look in to
When Travis first hit the scene he was not regarded as much of a picker, more well known for his incredible voice. But he's developed into a serious guitar player. Can hold his own with most anybody.
Love your videos!! Thank you so much for them. I'm surprised more people don't use the "Drop E" capo thing if they have a clamp-on caop that is open on one end. Capo five higher strings with capo upside-down and leave low E open to ring full.
Great job bud. Love the explanations and your excitement is awesome. I am a music major and have a semi pro band on the go, or will be when COVID lets it. I’m a big fan of the channel. Keep it up
Love your advice to figure out the melody, or vocal line, and then go from there. There is a story attributed to Chet Atkins, in which a picker says he wasn't sure what to play during his break. Chet supposedly said "well the melody always works". True or not, I don't know, but it fits in with what you say. Like this one, by the way, TT is playing a Chet Atkins signature guitar. Good one.
WOW. Did not know Travis Tritt could play (only know a few of his songs)... Assumed he was more-or-less just a 4-chord strummer like most country singers. That was awesome.
I've finally started learning some theory over the past 2+ years - after being just a "dude who plays songs on guitar at a mediocre level" for the past 25 years (lol) - understanding the diatonic scale, intervals, major/minor, caged, triads, yada yada - I've found that I want to sob in my hands every time I see Palmisano break this shit down in one second flat (no pun intended) at genius level. It's like I now know what I don't know, and the problem is, I feel like I'm still never gonna know it! UGH! LOL. I think I need in-person, 1-hour lessons, 2x/week b/c I've been doing zoom lessons and watching a zillion videos, but I don't stay on track and on a certain area long enough to stick w/me good enough to really apply it. My zoom-teacher is like Palmisano, it's like savant level shit where he knows exactly what note/interval he's playing at anytime, and how it relates to the context of the melody, and all of it. It is absolutely mind bending to me.
Did you ever try using the capo pinching the 5 top strings, without the major E? It works in the same way as a dropped D, but when you play a G, it works because you didn't tune down. If makes any sens to the way I worded it.
Ol' Trav is a guitarman. Make no mistake about that. Never saw him live. But if I did. I'd wanna see him on stage, with no band, except for him and his 6 friends. Flying solo, acoustically. He's a one man show. Saw too many videos of his past performances to think otherwise.
There’s a reason Country is full of Blues. Memphis ain’t all that far from Nashville and the music all bubbled out of the ground in Tennessee. There’s something in the water in that State, I swear.
Can confirm. The water is why the moonshine tastes the best here too. I love how country was in east Tennessee, blues/rock n roll /rockabilly in west Tennessee, and then they crashed in the middle and Nashville became music city.
The actual reason he is playing in drop D capoed in E, is that is his comfortable vocal range. Everything else can be translated into D because it is all patterns. Loved the breakdown of this none the less. Keep it up brother.
Love seeing Travis ,he is so good...the 90's area country chart topping bands were the best imo. Vince gill, Alan jackson, travis tritt, brooks and dunn.garth brooks ,reba, the judds.
Travis is one of the most criminally underrated country pickers ever. Absolutely ridiculous skills.
Agreed!! He’s been doing shows lately just him and his acoustic and crushing it.
Yep
You so right
My wife bought me tickets for my birthday a hell of a present his concert was the 12 of March my birthday was the 14th of March my son was born on February 9Th on Travis Tritt birthday my son's name is Travis lol true story

@@montarctica Went to one a couple years ago. Amazing show and worth every penny.
I had no idea Tritt could pick like this. So many country solo artists just wear the guitar as an accessory, it's nice to see it when they can play.
Travis is old school country... not like these new Luke Bryan types.
I'm pretty sure if I wrote a song, Michael would know more about it than I would...
I busted out laughing at this comment. Best one thus far
Okay so here’s what Alexander was doing.
Oh yeah man he knows more than Travis about this song lol
Learnt this and played and sang it in many bars over the years. Great crowd pleaser
Me too! Been playing this in clubs and bars for over 20 years now.
Long haired country boys appreciate the effort.
Leave me alone. Dont tread on me.
I saw Travis Tritt in '97, he played in Massachusetts. Joe Diffie and Trisha Yearwood opened. My first and only Country music concert. The biggest surprise was discovering Travis is a phenomenal guitar player!!

That little " turn around" is the intro to love sick blues by Hank Sr.
I saw TT back in the day when he would play a concert go to a bar afterwards and shut the bar down. Man can play his ass off! Middle of the concert he played solo for 45 mins before the band came back and finished the show.
I absolutely love the way you explain this and also the expressions on your face are priceless. WOW! This was a joy to listen to.
Grew up on this song but the first time I ever heard Travis Tritt do it I had to learn every note he plays from beginning to end, and I still play it this way every time but still can’t get the soul that guy can put into it. He’s one of the most underrated pickers in country music

Travis Tritt plays so much smoother than I ever recall in hearing in this video!
Love me some Travis Tritt!
He mixed southern rock and country...ya thats JUST what he did. Travis is phenominal!
Seems no one got the reference. I put some drive in my country. Just saying
I saw Travis at a small theatre in Fort Lauderdale where it was just him and a guitar on stage. Absolutely one of the best shows I've seen. He is an amazing musician and singer!! Love your channel Michael!
Travis is a total gem! He is such a nice guy too. Live, he and his band are just killer!
What's Happening is some BAD ASS picking skills that only a very few can match. That look on your face is the same look I get every time I watch that video and I watch it very often
IMO, one of the best guitar pickers around an thanks for the breakdown
Awesome stuff!
I've seen Travis a few times, great player and great show!!
Michael you need to hear Jamey Johnson’s “Just Give it Away” live at the House of Blues in Boston 4/9/19
I can’t even play guitar 🤣... I just like watching someone that can hear. Reminds me of my dad with a piano.
Another absolutely genius break down of a great tune. Michael never fails to amaze me with his encyclopedic music knowledge and laser accurate ear.
Thanks Scott!!
Really nice. Tritt is way serious with the capacities and talents. Saw Charles play this in person 3 rows from his nose. Dude I absolutely love the facial expressions. Love the videos. Keep it up!
Travis Tritt is a total talent.. Amazing singer and fantastic picker..
What I wouldn't give to have you as my guitar teacher . Fantastic as usual brother . Would love to see you do a video on Brent Mason , Hot Wired .
Dudes head with explode with excitement after reviewing Hot Wired
Heck yea man, friggin love the country guitar sound!! ...this may be a lil off subject idk, I was/am a big CDB fan and worked w them once arnd 05’, which most of the day I spent hangin with Taz (he played keys and co-wrote w CD since I believe the beginning-ish). Man I love your knowledge
Your lesson is great …… You are a professional and me an advanced , I like it really . 💛Thanks a lot and be blessed
one of my favorite acoustic tones ever !!
asked for this one on several "music review" channels. glad it came up here!

Thank YOU!!
I jam out to this song all the time. Love this live and kickin album
As a whole, one of the best live country shows you will ever see period. All taped 30 minutes from me in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
I really enjoy what you're doing on the channel. Thanks for the good times and teaching moments. Cheers from Sweden!

I have been waiting for forever for you to do this song!! Awesome!!
Mike, please keep up with this foremat of teaching, very informative. Wish I had this at 17 years old.
Me too . I had a guitar when I was 16 , but no teacher . I am 65 and in this earlier time there was no internet ..,,,,, 😢 I am learning now . Not the same , but better than not to do it .🇨🇭
You should see him solo, in concert…..
He’s awesome!!!
❤️ your breakdown!!!
You really need to check out Whiskey Myers. Try broken windows serenade, stone, and trailer we call home
They arguably my favorite band right now. The lyrics of broke. Window serenade are amazing but I would vote for stone as it is a better guitar song. I could come up with a bunch of songs that would make good videos like Virginia, Song for you, colloque.
Saw them at John T Flores, Helotes TX. Outstanding
You earned my subscription! Awesome videoMe and my band cover this song and doing a solo has always been a struggle for me. Once again, great video!!
I think Travis is top ten in old school bad ass country pickers to ever do it and I enjoy playing his songs and singing along...but with that said.... I was there live front row center for this. It was a great concert.
first off..you are very good at what you do sir..love ya.......NOW MR Travis is a living legend.....he is real.......
9:43 Somebody ppppllleeeaaassseee Michael clip this piece....
When riding that melody brings out that Palmisano train whistle!!! 😂🤣😂
Keep it up Mike! Man, I love this channel!
Didn’t know he got down like that impressive I dig it. These country cats can play though Vince Gill is a monster player.
Fantastic, thank you. I been trying to figure out this song for years.
i love Travis' vocals but man oh man can he play...i've only ever seen him playing with the band...he has some amazing finger work..deffinately something new for me to look in to
I love how much you love this.
dude, I just found this live version about a week ago too. Thanks for doing this one cause I was struggling to figure it all out haha
Saw Travis and Marty Stewart live years ago, just insane talent on that stage
I got some Otis Taylor - Nasty Letter vibes in that little jam at the beginning!
If you ever get a chance to see him live acoustic it’s a great show! Dude can pick
Yeah, he can pick. Ain't no Jerry Reed but hey? Who is? He's damn sho good enuff
Intro to stuck inside of mobile with the Memphis blues again 6:40
When Travis first hit the scene he was not regarded as much of a picker, more well known for his incredible voice. But he's developed into a serious guitar player. Can hold his own with most anybody.
Vince Gill is bad ass too ✅
Hell yeah. Absolutely.
Thanks for the music!
Love your videos!! Thank you so much for them. I'm surprised more people don't use the "Drop E" capo thing if they have a clamp-on caop that is open on one end. Capo five higher strings with capo upside-down and leave low E open to ring full.
love your videos bro! thanks
Travis is a multi-instrumentalist. Check out some videos with him on Banjo. He's awesome.
Oh dude you have no idea how insane his skills are. Let me recommend you dig into him a little more. He's bad A#@!!!!!!! One of my guitar heroes
This is so confusing - I have no idea what "bad A#@" could possibly mean.
Song written by another super star Charley’s Daniels. Not only a fiddle player, but guitar, dobro, banjo…a real all around talent.
Someone needs to do a react video of Michael reacting to a guitar video. His honest excitement of listing to these greats is priceless.
Thanks for Travis Tritt. Very nice surprise.
Nice find Michael. For those who don’t know. Now you know. Travis Tritt is legit 😂
Hey bro I love what you do plz do more Tritt stuff thanks in advance
Did you also know that Johnny B. Goode in Back to the future was performed by Travis Tritt....sung and played!
What?! Ok, thanks for making me waste 15 minutes researching that BS. HAHA
"Hey Travis, I love the way you throw that minor 3rd in there!"
Travis says "What the hell does that mean? I'm just playing the guitar."
Can't EVER go wrong with an SST. Love mine indeed.
Love what your doing man! Keep it up
Travis Tritts' 'I'm Gonna Be Somebody/ was a direct lift of 'Shooting Star' by Bad Company.
Great job bud.
Love the explanations and your excitement is awesome.
I am a music major and have a semi pro band on the go, or will be when COVID lets it.
I’m a big fan of the channel.
Keep it up
That drop d tuning is killer too.
Just fell in love with your Chanel s this is sick
Love your advice to figure out the melody, or vocal line, and then go from there. There is a story attributed to Chet Atkins, in which a picker says he wasn't sure what to play during his break. WOW. Did not know Travis Tritt could play (only know a few of his songs)... Assumed he was more-or-less just a 4-chord strummer like most country singers. That was awesome.
He's a banjo picker too.
Props to that Shred sesh in the beginning! 🤟
I forgot how much I love Travis he’s been a bad ass for years
Yes. He has been a bad ass for decades now.
I hear, “Oh Susannah, don’t you cry for me, cause I come from
Alabama with a banjo on my knee”
Thank You
Love Travis Tritt, but sure wish you would do some CDB!
To všechno víme. Trochu moc řečí. Je to borec. Jak hlas, tak hraní.
Let him play all the way through
Love tritt!
The little turnaround is a bit of “lovesick blues” Hank Williams sr.
Last one I swear from the live album ‘In Case You Didn’t Feel Like Showing Up’. Ministry’s STIGMATA
Terrific breakdown as usual!
Always great content!!
I would love to see your take on Ryan Bingham (way before Yellowstone) Tell My Mother I Miss Her So for WNRN
Absolutely fantastic song. Ryan Bingham is a legend.
Travis is playing a Hank Williams Blues Tune at 3:20.
Isn’t it strange how things work out? I was just singing this song as it was uploaded
Did you ever try using the capo pinching the 5 top strings, without the major E? It works in the same way as a dropped D, but when you play a G, it works because you didn't tune down. If makes any sens to the way I worded it.

You should do one on Brad Paisley's American Saturday night on the letterman show. Love how you break down this song as you listen.
Love seeing Travis ,he is so good...the 90's area country chart topping bands were the best imo.
Vince gill, Alan jackson, travis tritt, brooks and dunn.garth brooks ,reba, the judds.
