Saw Fifi in person 35-40 years ago. Was being flown by Paul Tibbets - still have the autograph somewhere. She was a sight to see; and hear. We lived on one of the flight paths for our airport, and she took off and flew at low altitude over our neighborhood. You could hear her coming from far, far, away...
incredible aircraft, may she always feel the wind over her wings and wheels safely meeting the ground when landing. protect this precious artifact and keep her flying
I first saw Fifi in 1986 or 87 with my grandaddy I remember getting a picture of her and hearing the radial engines for the first time the sound is incredible
I caught this aircraft yesterday!!!! I am so amazed and so unexpected it to fly over my area, and first time seeing it in person, too!!!! I will post the video soon today or tomorrow!!!! (Or by any chance this week!!!!)
Had the opportunity to rewire a lot of her in the 90s. They brought her to Boeing field for a full redo. Got a nice 2 hour ride for it. Loved it. I worked on EC-121s in the Navy and the systems were similar. Question: What does the FE have his Hatch open on Take off?
Just saw her fly over Kings Island in Mason, Ohio, and oh boy was it a sight to see. Those radials are terrifying at a lower altitude flyover 😂. Beautiful aircraft
FIFI. Not Fifi or FiFi My father was a USAAF B-29 navigator 1944-1945. He died in 2016 age 94. He saved and I have his original flight jacket with squadron insignia. My son and I visited (did not fly on) FIFI at Boire Field in Nashua NH in 2018. My family are Friends Of Doc.

Rode her out of Republic (P-47 Thunderbolt, that Republic) and they have the autographs at the navigator's station.
Really awesome experience.

"Fifi" episode of Better Call Saul brought me here, she's awesome!

Love hearing those big Wright 18-cylinder radials roar! A very impressive B-29! I saw her in person several years ago.
Oh man hearing the sound of the flight makes you feel like back in 40s
Looked like #1 brake stuck.
Excellent video! I think my student and I landed just after the takeoff. We were fighting the same crosswinds. Thanks for the post!
