      Barbie has probably had more diverse jobs. Action Man is mostly a soldier or athlete.

      Donald Duck is also up there. From all the cartoons and comics, he's done close to it all.
      And that includes soldier, paratrooper and the navy since during WW2 they did some cartoons when he joined the military to fight.
      As well as historical works such as cowboy, knight, samurai, Roman senator, and viking since there's a lot of alternate comics set in different geographical and historical.

    Funilly enough, there was actually another man who fought for three armies during WW2. His name was Lauri Thorni/Larry Thorne, who was served under the Finns, then he fought for the Germans, then he finally fought for the Americans in Vietnam

    You joke about the time travel, but that might not be far out; I vaguely recalll in the 90s there was one that was dressed as a 60s soldier (think it may have been like a 25th or 30th anniversary set?) and the little story bit on the back of the box was something like Dr X brought the 60s Action Man forward in time for some bullshit reason, so canonically Action Man is a time traveller.

    There was also a man called Lauri Törni in Finland who fought for Finland, Germany and the US. Basically wherever he could find communists to fight. It's quite a story I definitely recommend looking him up.

    There was also a Finnish soldier, Lauri Törni. He fought against the Russians when they invaded Finland, when that war ended he joined the SS so he could fight Russians in that army and then when that war ended he ended up becoming a green beret in the hope that the US would... wait for it.... fight Russians.

    Two possible ways to interpret this exist as I see it:
    1.) Action Man is one of untold numbers of identical clones that all sides got ahold of.
    2.) He is literally the only person in each battle, running around back and forth using weapons and changing uniforms to fit the side he's roleplaying as at any given moment.

    Playing all sides in WWII gives a new wistful dimension to the lyrics to Ashes to Ashes. "I've never done good things, I've never done bad things, I've never done anything out of the blue." It's almost like he discounts the effects of his many contributions to what he perceives as the inevitable force of history. In any case the message he wishes to share with us remains the same "I'm happy, hope you're happy too."

    As a kid, I lived on a caravan site and my mate lived on a farm next door.
    A stream ran through the caravan site and the farm. We decided to put our action men in the commando boat and set it off down the stream and ran to the other end of the farm to wait for then.
    They never turned up. We walked back up the stream and found a fork in the stream, that we never new was there, it went out into the new forest... they were gone forever!

    The GI Joe toys here in the Netherlands were these really small (10cm or so) figures whereas Action Man was like 30cm tall. I had the 90's parachute figurine and one other. Lots of fun tossing it out of tall buildings and seeing it barrel towards the ground.
    IIRC there was even a cartoon.

    on the soldier of 3 armies, there is a guy called Lauri Törni who fought for both the Finnish and Germans in WW2 and then fought for the US in Vietnam under the name Larry Thorne, where he died. He had also received medals in every army.

    There is like a comedy gold of an series here if someone manage to write a story of Action Man, using all these figurine's release order as template for the timeline.
