Peter, it may interest viewers to understand how much physical strength comes into this. Technique is key but muscle tone and flexibility play a massive part. Other than lifting Guinness, what training will help?

“our molten planet…” I love it! Mind you, the planet I have been playing golf on this year has been more dissolved than molten. It has felt like an antediluvian swamp.

Great tip! Would be great to see your swing in slo-mo to see the weight transfer better.

Took this to the course today and it really made a difference. Although I've seen the concepts many times before in video tips for some reason this one really connected with me and I was able to play some really impressive shots. Just need to do it every time... But thanks.

4:48 Width is essential! I’ve eperimented with launch monitor, and it is unbelievable, how mutch the width increase the club speed.
Keeping the width compared to ever so slightly collapsing hands at the top the differece in my swing it is 5-7 mph with an 8-iron!

I think one key point missed was some people like my self get more power from my lead foot and not trail foot. After I drop into ground and transfer i start to push back and jump with my lead foot. I have found for me I get more speed that way.
Pete is 100% right and explained it very well. There is just more than one way 😊

1:27 Little bit more natural… And not so restricted. 😅
What I’ve learnned is that the restrickted is the ”natural” and urge to find the ball with the club face promotes it.

As with many moves, how does it apply to irons? This move is also taught for irons & if you see slo-mow of pros, they definitely move ahead of the ball to start the downswing but many times, when doing this move I hit it fat because I'm releasing my wrist angle too early or moving too far ahead of the ball. This process is good for driver because you want to swing up but for irons, it gives me problems. Some teachers want you to stay centered over the ball & rotate, tho not only rotate, while others are teaching moving ahead for better compression with irons. If you look at some of the best in the world, they all move forward toward the target before impact with irons but not with driver. The stay behind the ball & are swinging up as you demonstrate here. Moving forward with irons helps with compression but for me is too hard to time releasing the wrist angle thru impact to prevent hitting it fat. I definitely hate this game!

I have a bad habit of moving my head forward (toward the target) on the downswing.
How do you transfer pressure down and around, yet KEEP YOUR HEAD VEHIND the BALL 🤷🏼‍♂️
    It’s driving me mad 😡
    Good stuff 👍🏻 Thanks 🙏🏻

Could you do something for someone like me, 61 year old with a restricted turn

Agree completely, I am 67 with bulging discs in the spine making rotation painful, but I refuse to give up golf. Injured pride is worse than back pain. LOL

Amateurs, please do not get "loading the back leg" confused with swaying. You can put weight on the back leg without having to sway towards it. Sway is a big no-no during the takeaway and back swing. It can easily throw off your shot.

Doesn't look like you lost much height in your demonstration swing. Also if you freeze frame, your demo swings are seriously down on attack angle. This is the problem i've always had with these tips.
I grew up playing all of those "hitting" sports so when I focus on the weight transfer it effectively left my arms out behind me because I can turn my hips so fast - HUGE block slices galore!
Once I learned to "quieten" my hips and focus on my arms - it all squared up and the swing is much faster!
Something to remember - if your body is trained for those hitting sports, it KNOWS how to turn. Focus on the take-away, the backswing hip rotation and the downswing.

Me either. I average 280 off the tee. I never have a back swing past what feels hip high. if we aren't supposed to apply pressure until then why go further. I still get a full shoulder turn though. If you watch them so do they. Watching finau it almost looks like he pushes his hands back and allows his chest to come back down. It really helped me. I'm a fast shoulder and hip turner I just don't let the club get up with all the unnecessary run off

The light club is also not a 1 size fits all. I swing a shortened 42 inch 70 gram steel stiff flex shaft with 2 18g weights in the head. You're driver should feel heavy if you want power and accuracy both. You need to feel the club head. Peter is a good instructor and a funny guy. Just saying what has worked for me but I'm also only 5'8 225 lbs. Watched something where Ben Hogan actually swung a very heavy club. My longest drive on record with that same driver is 384 yards. Have one at 331, 327 305. Average tho is 280 because I also shape my shots. There's a hole at my course it's 240 severe dog leg right I can put it at 240 and cut it around the bend about 75 yards. I'm a 2.8 handicap and going down it's been due to the driver and using PW within 20-80 yards instead of 60
