I've been in this hobby for 10 months and built 6 quads, whenever I have a question on HOW to do a specific thing in this hobby, my search for answers and educatino always lead me back to your videos and they ALWAYS provide a direct and comprehensive answer. I can't thank you enough for the content you provide. Thanks!!!

Thank you so much for all of these videos on this Radio.. I would have given up if not for your videos... I have been trying to figure out how to make the timer louder for the timer over. now i know how that single tiny Beep is not loud enough for me to hear if i get lost in my flying..
Painless360 Thanks for that tip.. that helps also. Ild like to find a different sound for the timer over noise also I'm looking or might just make my own with audacity Well, i was thinking the timerlt3 file was the "beep" when the timer was finished counting down but i guess not.. its not even a file in my Taranis That was what i wanted to change.. Any clue?
When you upgrade between 2.x version of OpenTx the sound files change a bit. With version 2.2 a user warning has been added. "There's an opentx.sdcard.version file on the root of the SD card that contains a version number. If we make a change in the requirements we increment the number the firmware expects, and a mismatch will throw a warning."
This helped me a lot! Thanks for the video Painless! I've got a question though. Is there a way I can setup a variable special function. eg. if in horizon mode, when arm play arm1 if in acro, when arm play arm2. Thanks again! Lachlan
Yes you could, look at the logical switches. I'd setup logical switches to activate when the switch combos you want are on then use those logical switches to control the flight modes/track plays.. Best of luck!
Painless360 I finally worked it out! By setting the function as AND and the two variables as my two switches it all worked. Thanks again so much for the help Painless! :)
This is a great series, something I used when setting up my Taranis some time ago, thanks. I still have a residual question and it relates to the sound (a tone or buzz) generated by the unit itself. I’m assuming it is the haptic function. This occurs occasionally and I can’t tie it back to a warning as nothing appears on the screen. I’ve come to ignore it which probably isn’t wise, but not turned it off. Do you have any insight into what it is linked to and how I can ID the message it is trying to give me?
Yep again a great tutorial really simple to follow and a keeper. Just one question as I have followed these instructions I can not find the "welcome to Taranis" file as I want to change it can you point me in the direction of the file please?
FPV SPY This should be automatically overwritten when you copy the files onto the SD card into the Sounds/en/System directory. It is called tada.wav ;)
Great vids and much appreciated! Any idea on how to play a track when you change to a different model or to play the "model" track when you turn the radio on? I created some audio tracks already and can program them to the switched etc, but I am not sure how to program it to read the model name. ie: "Thanks for choosing Plane 1. Blue Skies and have a safe flight" is the sound file that I want to play when I select model one. Thanks. Dub
in one of these sound videos... when you were placing the files in the taranis removable disk... I though I heard you say.. "hit Ctl V" ... not sure what Ctl V is... seems to be View! should I be Copying and pasting the files... and over writing what is there?
kennethpappas The antenna replacement is quite simple and the lead connects to the board simply, remember that the new antenna gives you increased DBI at the expense of some Omni-directionality. You need to be careful with that mod that the model is in the best area for reception. See my video on FPV antennas to see what I mean (same basics apply).Best of luck with it.
I have a problem with the sounds on my Taranis radio in that they only work for a while after turning on and they come back if you turn the radio off and back on again, only to stop working after a while - not the thing you want to do with a plane in the air.I have downloaded the sd card contents from FrySky onto to a different card but it made no difference so I'm thinking there is a fault somewhere with the radio hardware (possibly a dud radio). I am looking to use telemetry in a powered glider but there is not much point if the radio is only going to talk to me when it feels like it. I welcome your comments and thank you for all your videos. Ian
I would pop the radio open and check the speakers connections. If there is no obvious soldering or connection problems then i would go back to the vendor. Best of luck!
Hello. I have a question. I downloaded and installed the amber sound pack on my Jumper t-16 and now I have no greeting message when powering on the Tx. I was wondering if you could assist me in getting that back. I must mention that there is no tada file in the download. All other sounds are working as I have set them. Thank you Painless !!!!
If you're ever not sure then the documentation covers everything you need and a google search should get you to the bit you want. I Googled 'opentx 2.2 welcome sound file' to find this page - opentx.gitbooks.io/manual-for-opentx-2-2/advanced/audio.html and found the answer to the file name used for the startup. Best of luck!
Hi, I have just accidentally broken my SD card in my Taranis plus :-( Could you please advise what I have to do now with my New SD card to make it work again ?
Sorry, I misread the comment and thought you were talking about the Q X7. You can download the contents of the SD card from places like the OpenTX university. open-txu.org/home/continuing-education/taranis-microsc-card-storage/ has a link at the bottom..
Thank you, the link to the OTXUni is fine however the SD card source link only goes to Dropbox user content which I do not have, and Dropbox is advertised for £79 ?? Can you please advise on alternative way to source info I need for New SD card?

I'm here in 2022. Great videos.
Thanks yet again for your efforts. The confusing world of Taranis is becoming clearer by the week.
Yet another useful and informative video. Thank you for your increasingly large library of RC information.
Helping me in 2020. Thanks. Greetings from Brasil
Thank you very much 😁 You provide Great info 😁
Glad it made sense! :D Happy flying!

+epoweredrc go into special function menu, add a new function I.e. 'ON - Volume - S1' and enable it.. Best of luck

+epoweredrc rcdiy.ca/opentx-sounds-announcements/ covers it well.. Hope it helps..
Thank you for the link but i finally found it somewhere else. I just had to create a logic switch to make it play.. Thanks again for your great Videos

Lachlan Demasi logical switches are so handy!

It could be tied to lots of things - timer maybe? I'd get a flying buddy to watch the radio to spot what triggers it. Best of luck
Thank you, good help..
hello.wav is now instead of tada.wav
How to get amber sound pack spreadsheet for knowing what all the shortcuts to the words are ?

Thanks for this vid, I see you have the A02 version Taranis, have you got SWR working?
No, from what I read the SWR on the original Taranis didnt operate as a true SWR anyway.. Happy flying!

Perserverance got me through. I was able to figure it out. I needed to make it mono. That got it working. Cheers.

Yep, see the video on custom sounds!

+Bob W it is the keyboard shortcut in Windows for 'Paste'. Happy flying!

Can you do a video how to install the new 5db antenna.

Download and copy the files into the new card - as per the video. Best of luck!

You can do that! The sound file you want to change is called ‘tada’ :)
I think now its called hello.wav
Well... I just changed my Taranis' opening to Anchorman's "I will not eat cat poop". Thought id share...
+appv12 Nice! ;)
