Their mistake was they did what game of thrones did in their last season. Just sped up any period of travel rather than it realistically influencing character development. They also avengersed it by trying to enforce too many characters on screen at once after they meet the monkeys

Me too, like it wasn't a deep movie, but it didn't have to be, it's just meant to be a decent adaptation and it did it with fun, particularly Jack Black as Bowser was as genius as Jim Carrey playing as Dr Robotnik. (Maybe a crossover movie? plz 🥺)

Jack black really was a perfect cast for bowser tbh. I havent watched the movie, but clips ive seen online over the past week, jack black really nailed the bowser role

This made me ask Google how old Mario is. From my research the most common answer is ~43yo in the games, but supposed to be ~25yo in the movie. Then I asked how old Peach is. At debut she was 15, later games it just says teen to early 20s. In the movie she is supposed to be ~23yo. Bowser is 30 in the movie but canonically 34yo.

The A-Bomb Bullet Bill and the Kong driving over a banana and blowing up were both very unexpected and hilarious moments, but during the Rainbow Road scene Mario and Donkey Kong fall into the ocean because a flying Koopa transforms into a Blue Shell and blows up the road k*lling himself in the explosion - For how strict Nintendo is about their IP I have no idea how these scenes made it into the movie, but they are welcomed Also, the blue Luma was the worst part of this damn movie. They should have just made "Luigi's Mansion" the movie because Charlie Day actually tried to voice act versus Chris Prat playing himself
The luma, and bowser, were the best parts of this movie. I would have called it bad if not for those two. I’m still not calling it good, but it was kept from being bad by the luma and bowser.
For Nintendo i believe it’s more about protecting their ips from outside sources, such as unfortunately fan games and rom hacks and some emulators, and kinda less from inside sources like their animation studio. Also they « mostly » punish those who apparently make a profit, specifically the fan games, emulators and so on… .
Spike is a pretty obscure Nintendo character he wasn't made specifically for the movie, he was from wrecking crew. The restaurant at the beginning had so many punch out references I suspended my disbelief about them being Italians eating at an Italian restaurant. This movie absolutely shoved as many references in to make up for lost time but that's the direction they chose for an old ass ip having it's first movie work for almost 40 years worth of gaming
The entire of the story feels like it takes place over an afternoon, they had an evening outing and that's it. I totally agree with there being more of a journey to the dk kingdom, maybe some more interaction with some of the games side characters
I honestly felt like I was going crazy seeing how much buzz this movie was getting. It was so mid, but people are acting like it's the best/worst movie ever for some reason

A little errata : The voice of Mario during his plumbing commercial ... was done by the voice actor who does the Mario voice in the games ... Like Mario 64 ... So ... yeah. It's-a Him-a! The original voica-a act-or! Likjewise, Spike is from another, not very well known in the US Mario game where Mario is a construction worker, with Foreman Spike being the antagonist.
Chris Pratt did that voice, afterwards when Mario ask’s Luigi about the accents and Giuseppe, who is the other guy that looks like Mario and answers with a stereotypical Italian voice, is voiced by Charles Martinet, Mario and Luigi’s voice actor in the games.

Eh there was just so many, and I noticed the cuts to the parts everyone knows. Should've remixed them with Mario music but it would've been too hard ig
Nostalgia is a great motive for decisions in the film. The problem is there's tons of Nintendo music they could've used instead. Songs from Mario Kart, Super Mario World, and Donkey Kong Country series could've filled the entire movie. I've heard so many amazing remixes and rearrangements of all these franchises music, it would've enhanced the nostalgia way more than generic 80s pop music
As someone who used to be a big Mario fan and got all the references I thought it was a super fun movie. Story was basic and not much happened and I groaned at the "the princess is in another castle" joke, but overall I had alot of fun watching it with my friends. That scene with Peaches fat ass kind of carried it.
I thought the beginning of the movie how you describe it, was related from the terrible live action movie of Mario and Luigi… where they are from Brooklyn but they went to this wall and somehow suck into it then got separated, until later on they somehow found each other :)
Actually, the whole Mario is from Brooklyn New York was canon to the games back in the old school Mario games in the 80's and early 90's. That's until Yoshi's Island retcon the whole thing. The old Mario cartoons like the Super Show and the 1993 Mario film just made the backstory that Mario is from Brooklyn from the Mario games the show is based on on at the time and expanded that idea further. What the new Mario movie did of course brought that backstory back.

I think one of the reasons why I liked it was because of the amount of detail/easter eggs in every scene
*Me eating your dog* it's a reference to Jurassic Park
Honestly yeah the Easter eggs were sick, I think probably making the movie 30 minutes longer just to develop some character and story would make the movie leagues better, just because the rest of the movie seemed to be too brief.
That’s pretty surface level
Their mistake was they did what game of thrones did in their last season. Just sped up any period of travel rather than it realistically influencing character development. They also avengersed it by trying to enforce too many characters on screen at once after they meet the monkeys
@@stinky9675 i cant tell if you're joking..
"I KNOW THAT REFERENCE, MOVIE SO GOOD 10/10"
Idiot.
I ain't gonna lie, I was half listening to this and kinda tuned back in with Mario hanging himself and I almost believed it with how convincing you were.
Did papa just make up that blackface bit? 😂
I ended up enjoying this film more then I thought I was going to like it
Me too, like it wasn't a deep movie, but it didn't have to be, it's just meant to be a decent adaptation and it did it with fun, particularly Jack Black as Bowser was as genius as Jim Carrey playing as Dr Robotnik. (Maybe a crossover movie? plz 🥺)
The Mario Movie is a good example of how video game adaptations should be done. We need more of them that can be faithful to their source material!
Better to be a fun movie when making a video game movie look at the first Mortal Kombat movie and the Sonic the Hedgehog movies and now include the Super Mario Bros 2023 movie
crossing my fingers for the fnaf movie
-I'm- Am I weird for liking that old live action mario movie?
@@bradleymoore2797 no your not weird it’s just nostalgia from a better time in your life.
@@DankMemer42013 I'll have you know my current time is better than my past time.
Jack black really was a perfect cast for bowser tbh. I havent watched the movie, but clips ive seen online over the past week, jack black really nailed the bowser role
He was the only actor that wasn't horribly miscast. Literally every single other character has the least fitting voice possible. It makes the movie feel like a parody more than it already is
@@thequinlanshow3326I wasn’t a huge fan of Anya Taylor Joy as Peach, it didn’t feel right

I went into it with the worst expectations. I thoroughly enjoyed the theater experience, and my friends and I were laughing more than I thought we would.
Is it a great movie? It's debatable, but I enjoyed it and the memories made by it.
There is so much nodding in this movie. Everybody gets a firm nod.
And a firm rod, amiright?
I saw it with my girlfriend. I really didn’t go in with many expectations but it was a fun movie. As a grown man that loves Mario games, I thought it was a really fun time.
I really liked the part when Mario said his iconic phrase "hasta la vista baby" when dropping Bowser into the lava,
I really liked the Mario movie. It was a lot of fun and I really enjoyed it. Was it high cinema? No. But I had a lot of fun and would gladly see a sequel.
The fact how he’s fitting lies of his review makes this stuff really funny xd
My favorite part of the movie is when Mario looks a the camera and says it’s Morbin time and morbs all over peach
I enjoyed the Mario movie idk about everyone else but to me it was pretty good
I didn't think it was great but it was fun time
Yeah it was pretty fun, 7/10 but as a Mario movie it was really good.
Jack Black carried the movie from being too ok
Actually Spike was from the NES game Wrecking Crew, where Mario and Luigi have to destroy all of the destructible walls in each level while avoiding sentient tools and avoiding Spike from messing you up.
Thanks for explaining that reference! I had no idea and thought that scene was really random. Now I know 😄
Yeah that black face scene really took me off guard while I was watching it with my children
According to the movie lore, The green pipe portal is basically an SCP
We’re going to need class B amnestics over here
really enjoyed the entire movie except for the part where they shoot spike vector with a pistol point blank in the final scene i just don't know where firearms were ever referenced in a mario game but maybe i missed them previously and he recieved his punishment deservingly
Honestly never thought Luigi had it in him to do such a thing
I appreciated the subtle head band colour change when you went Italian
I dont have expectations but i told a friend i would see it because shes credited for art design in the movie and i like her art style so im curious how it turned out in the movie
i love the part when mario said " its mario time" and marioed all over the place
Wario reviewing the Mario Movie makes the 4/10 score appropriate!
i'm so glad you talked about the princess peach bike, i"m also so glad those theater seats had tray tables or I would have regret not bringing a blanket
Personally I like the music, but it’s so disappointing that an entire score was made, but they used modern music. Would have been at least interesting if the human world had our music, and the other world had the game music that the score was.
My friends and I saw it for free and lowkey that shit was good
I liked it too
Every movie you've talked about for the last couple months has come back to a comparison w/ Puss in Boots 2 - and I really respect that

I was shocked when Mario tripped and fell in the Mushroom Kingdom then Toad said “Oof. That’s gonna leave a mushroom stamp.”
I love that he had to change his thumbnail for very obvious reasons, regardless I love every video you put out and have been subscribed for a while my wife also loves your sense of humor, hope you're doing well buddy.
The A-Bomb Bullet Bill and the Kong driving over a banana and blowing up were both very unexpected and hilarious moments, but during the Rainbow Road scene Mario and Donkey Kong fall into the ocean because a flying Koopa transforms into a Blue Shell and blows up the road k*lling himself in the explosion - For how strict Nintendo is about their IP I have no idea how these scenes made it into the movie, but they are welcomed
Also, the blue Luma was the worst part of this damn movie. They should have just made "Luigi's Mansion" the movie because Charlie Day actually tried to voice act versus Chris Prat playing himself
And all Lugis mansion got was a tiny little part of the theme snuck in for half a second
Right? I truly believe general audiences put visuals and gags over plots and tight scripts.
Cognitive dissonance
It was just okay. Not that great

the blue shell gave me advanced fear of the actually troppa that rocks that skill. definitely increased my fear of the blue shell. Boweser have a possibility for his own movie, for his character change arc. I love the story of Bowsers Bed Time Story, RPG. Chris Pratt was clickbait tbg, the trailer it sounded like he wasn't trying, but on the movie it was decent. I was submerge on his tone
My favorite part of this movie was definitely the 45 minute post credit orgy scene between all the toads in the mushroom kingdom. I can't believe Nintendo approved such a scene, yet here we are.
Elementals was actually fantastic, but I also thought it looked god-awful from the ads I saw. I dunno who’s in charge of advertising at Disney but they need to be drawn and quartered
Lmao the amount of people who didn’t get the sarcasm of you feigning enthusiasm over the mario not liking mushrooms bit is surprisingly high
I loved the movie, the references and especially Bowser. I do wish we spent more time with Luigi and Mario. And had more time in the Mushroom Kingdom, but I truly loved it. No bad fart jokes, toilet humor or annoying characters. 🔥🔥🔥

Spike isn't a made up guy. He's one of the characters from Wrecking Crew for the nes
No it was Chris Pratt who was doing a mario impression in that commercial
Chris Pratt did that voice, afterwards when Mario ask’s Luigi about the accents and Giuseppe, who is the other guy that looks like Mario and answers with a stereotypical Italian voice, is voiced by Charles Martinet, Mario and Luigi’s voice actor in the games.
oooOOOOOOoooooh! Well, color me edumacated! I knew that the game voice actor had a part SOMEwhere. I thought I heard somewhere that he did the commercial as well.
@@TinkerYellowmane wasn't he the voice of Mario's Dad? I swear he was!

The tyrant whos using cordeceps to turn the koopas into mushrooms or goombas.
I actually heard several people either complaining or wondering why there was so much 80s music. Do we not know when the NES and the Mario Bros had ruled the world?
On top of that i figured the music was for the parent's nostalgia.
You forgot the part when they confirmed that Bowser was not circumcised.
I like the part where Bowser looks into the camera and asks the viewer to marry him
As someone who used to be a big Mario fan and got all the references I thought it was a super fun movie. Story was basic and not much happened and I groaned at the "the princess is in another castle" joke, but overall I had alot of fun watching it with my friends. I thought the beginning of the movie how you describe it, was related from the terrible live action movie of Mario and Luigi… where they are from Brooklyn but they went to this wall and somehow suck into it then got separated, until later on they somehow found each other :)
It originated from the Mario Bros. Super Show.
@@retrofan4963 earliest is Mario is missing if we even consider that a Mario game. Personally we could bury all copies with Mario's time machine in a landfill with all the e.t. cartridges 😂 not sure if either of those 2 games are cannon.
@@bobbymoore8030 No. It didn't originate in Mario is Missing and Time Machine. It's officially confirmed back in the day that Donkey Kong Arcade games, Mario Bros Arcade game and Wrecking Crew takes place in Brooklyn New York. You can in fact be racist towards white people.
If "white" is a race of human, and racism is descrimination against a group of people based on their race, then simple logic dictates that you can in fact be racist towards white people.
