The Original Sun Breath user in Demon Slayer may seem like he was all powerful, but he himself never wanted any of the responsibility. When Yoriichi was a young boy he left his home to allow his brother to become the head of the household, and after running for an entire day and night, he meets a girl who recently lost her entire family to disease that says she’s lonely, and he offers to stay with her so she doesn’t have to be anymore. 10 years later the two get married and live in a small humble home, where Yoriichi gets his wife pregnant and prepares himself for a simple but happy life in a home where he’s always close enough to reach out to his loved ones and see their smiles, however when he goes out to get midwife to help his wife, he returns and finds her slain by a passing demon along with her baby, and sits there with her for 10 full days until someone helps him bury her. Yoriichi says he never wanted to be a demon slayer, and would’ve been happy have just his family, but after this he joins up and slays demons until he meets Kibutsuji Muzan himself.

Yoriichi was one of kind, even through his own natural blood, it would change nothing. Michikatsu was born to the same mother and father and never even came close to Yoriichi, even after 500* years as a demon, not even close.
There's also another moment, before he ran away, he tried out sword training for the 1st time and beat the crap out of the sword instructor, and proceeded to say he didn't like it and would rather play games instead.

It's honestly gut-wrenching to think this man spent years with the woman he loved pregnant with their child; Just to return home, seeing her gutted corpse, bloodied on the floor with his and her dead baby. He was so heartbroken that he stayed days on end with his dead family in their home till someone came along and helped him out.
And in the end, he lived the rest of his days completely alone, never taking the chance of finding love again, and in his twilight years would experience even more heartbreak.
He is reincarnated with his wife into the modern world post time skip, the Tokito twins are also reincarnated and they are their children. They got their repayment.

This is toward the end of the mangas if I remember well... In the flashbacks, after Yorichii met the Kamado family, he held their toddler in his arms since she was asking for attention. As soon as he held her up to the sky, she laughed in pure bliss. He saw her smile and started to cry immediately. He crouched down while crying and hugged the baby in his arm like it was precious to him. He could've had this experience with his own child and family but it was taken from him. I think he was stuck in depression/grief unknowingly and seeing the joy of a child (which he most likely thought he'd never be able to experience this way.) revitalised his soul a little. Gave him something to keep living for.
Imagine how different Demon Slayer would be if Yorichis family was left alone

Quite the interesting character. He has very real motives that many people can relate to. And yet hes the most powerful character in the entire series and could probably beat every hashira, upper moon. And muzan at the same time with zero difficulty.
