Hopefully this helps or inspires someone travelling to Lakes Entrance to go crabbing. If not from a boat, from a pier or jetty. Enjoy and feel free to ask questions!
Love the channel mate just came across you on utube thanks for the helpful information and I love the low key she’d be right attitude have metung insight for Chrissy if we ever get out of lockdown might see you out there 👍
I agree the numbers are less however you can find them. It may a few reasons but I’d say it’d be due to the severe rain we’ve had in recent times and over fishing at lakes entrance! I’ll give it a go this summer and let you know.
on the web it says you can catch 30 or 1litre of whole or parts of crab. so would that mean you got to many or is the 1 litre more just talking about cooked crab
Gday! Yes that’s correct. In victoria the bag limit for sand crabs is 30. But I guess if you’re keeping more than 30 it would have to be no greater than 1litre. I normally only take 4-5 crabs at a time as it’s to easy to get them fresh as you want them! Cheers.
@@SlappinLoominum ok thanks I just didn't want to head out while I had confused myself on the rules. Seems like you would need atleast a few to get a meal out of them.
I’m not sure if they would last three days. If you try they need to be kept cold and damp. Wet news paper is good. Or a wet cloth with ice bricks in an esky would be my guess. Cheers!
Cheers man! Yeh I’ve prawning the lakes since I was child. Mostly hand nets at night in the shallows with a spear for the odd flounder. Although it’s pretty amazing when the water turns to a black cloud near the heads when they run! Maybe I’ll a prawn video in the future.
Fantastic video mate. I’m usually fishing in western port but I head down to lakes entrance every now and then for a feed of sand crabs 😋 I’ve always gone off reeves jetty but haven’t tried the hire boat down there yet. Did you also take note of the tides when you went out and caught them?
I've heard recently that numbers are not the same on Bullock Island. Unfortunately it's due to people not limiting their catch and catching their limit (the old saying). I have seen huge families there with Hi-ace vans full of buckets! Your best bet is to go where there are no people! Cheers Peter!
Totally right mate! I’m normally crabbing with more people on board and wouldn’t be an issue. I was more focused on giving people inspiration to get out and do it. At least I didn’t catch my limit and only took what I needed for the fam.
thanks love local content and love crabs
Thanks for commenting mate! I’ll do a crab catch and cook in the future. Cheers
👍😃👍

@@SlappinLoominum from boat 14 ft open cab firberglass probably try and get out to six mile too
Yeh you’ll find crabs for sure if you have a boat. You’ll get some good snapper around that time too!

How to keep them alive for 3 day do I just put sea water inside?

Nice video. Were you outside or in the North Arm mate?
You seem to have better luck then me. I was there last year and got nothing.

It’s a Brooker from Qld. Turned into a pontoon boat. (Poor mans Stabi!)
@@SlappinLoominum does the job, i have a quintrex 390 outback explorer i will be taking down to portarlington when the lockdown fucks off
The law is you can only use two nets at a time. You're using three here. Maybe read up on Vic laws
