- Memories of COVENTRY SPEEDWAY DVD
HAS Brandon Stadium seen the last of speedway, or will the Bees get back on track there in the future? Sadly, their future is very doubtful. What we can say with absolute certainty is that this prime venue in the heart of the Midlands, where the bikes roared for the first time in 1928, produced countless special memories for Bees and visiting supporters to treasure.
Now you can relive the good times again and again thanks to our unique double-disc collection of brilliant race action featuring most of Coventry's biggest names . . . NIGEL BOOCOCK, OLE OLSEN, TOMMY KNUDSEN, MITCH SHIRRA, KELVIN TATUM, HANS NIELSEN, GREG HANCOCK, BILLY HAMILL, ANDY SMITH, SIMON WIGG, GARY GUGLIELMI, RICK MILLER, JOHN JORGENSEN, BRIAN ANDERSEN, LES OWEN, BOB VALENTINE.
Also appearing in action clips: Roger Hill, Frank Smith, Alan Molyneux, Mick Bell, Alf Busk, Kevin Hawkins, Charlie McKinna, Sam Nikolajsen, Steve Bastable, David Bargh, David Clarke, Andy Hackett, Neville Tatum, Jakob Olsen, Wayne Broadhurst, Chris Clarence, Andy Meredith, Shaun Tacey, Darren Spicer, etc.
*Thrill to the Bees home and away, including local derbies with Leicester, Cradley and Wolves.
* Filmed or audio interviews with Booey, Ken McKinlay, Derrick Tailby, Ole Olsen, Knudsen, Kelvin Tatum, Bastable, Jorgensen, Miller, Neville Tatum, Bargh, Smith, Nielsen, Wigg, Andersen, Jakob Olsen, Meredith, Clarence, plus legendary promoter Charles Ochiltree and Jack Parker, team managers Mick Bell and Bob Tanser.
* The historic first Barry Briggs' Golden Greats meeting in 1988, featuring six former World Champions: Briggo, Ivan Mauger, Ove Fundin, Peter Collins, Anders Michanek and Freddie Williams, plus ex-Bees Jim Lightfoot and Ken McKinlay, and Bruce Cribb shattering the Brandon track record on his ice bike.
* Nigel Boocock's moving memorial service at Brandon, including interview with Cynthia Boocock.
* Including rare, previously unseen colour cine footage from the 60s & 70s.
* Many evocative still images just oozing yellow and black nostalgia.
The speedway needs to come back. Race nights were electric!!
Fantastic Speedway action I miss it
like crazy there's not a day goes by
when you don't think about it I saw
a video recently about Coventry
showing the stadium now its run down ,
just memories now !
❤❤❤❤❤❤
I used to love getting out of the car - smelling the fuel they used and kinda having every part of my body go tense..
OMG same!!!
Brilliant!!!! A must for all Coventry Bees fans x
not a coventry fan but this is great action - have so many memories of speedway at Brandon...first visit 1976, the titanic tiitle decider v hull, wolves comeback win there in 1986, oles farewell meeting, sam winning an overseas final there on a baking hot sunday afternoon, kenny carters british final win with a broken leg on a very wet track....
Fabulous racing...
Ole Olsen the best team captain ever....great riding by Smudger....
Ya he was great and still does so much for the sport proud to be danish
Any of you guys know the value of signatures from players from that period of time?
I can still hear the sound of the fog horns...
looking to be a good dvd
Background music ''Imperial Echoes'' or to Oxford Speedway fans ''The Cheetahs March''
Only went there once , to support Newport wasps . Loved it tho .
I have some signatures from some of the players around 1970 ish etc, can anyone help me decide their value?
Keep them mate, unless you really need the money... money can be earned, youll never get a signature from the 70s again lol its long gone
What is the music the track staff marched on to ?
Flight of the bumble bee! /
@@condor1961 I since found out it was 'imperial echoes' the track and medical staff marched out to, the flight of the bumble bee was just before the first heat🙂
@@deanstephenhayward2652 yeah, now you have said it I remember. Hope it comes back soon, I've had some brilliant nights at the speedway!! 😉🤞
Speedway today is nothing compared to how the race back then seemed to gomalot faster Also how the broadside back then not jumoing all over the bike like todays sgp riders.
I bet the bikes back then were much harder to handle as well
