Unseen Humayunpur (North Eastern Food Hub) Food Tour in South Delhi I Nepali + Korean Chana Chaat

- Humayunpur, nestled in the heart of South Delhi, has evolved into an urban village predominantly inhabited by the Jat community. However, it is also home to a huge population of migrants from the North Eastern states who come here for education or work.
This influx of people from different parts has transformed Humayunpur into one of Delhi’s sought-after food destinations. Its narrow lanes are dotted with numerous big and small restaurants, cafes and makeshift stalls offering NorthEastern, Korean, Nepalese and Chinese cuisines. In today's episode, we'll be venturing into a handful of these culinary pitstops.
Our first stop is Lha Kitchen, founded by Dickey Bhutiya and her husband. It's renowned for its authentic Nepali cuisine and offers a cozy seating arrangement reminiscent of a Nepali household. The menu is extensive, featuring traditional dishes. We tried the Thakali Thali and Jhol Momo. Additionally, we had the opportunity to speak with Dickey Bhutia about her journey with LHA kitchen.
Our second food destination was a no-frills chana chaat counter run by a young man from Arunachal Pradesh named Sameer. He operates this stall to support his education, for which he migrated here. The chana chaat sold here is a crunchy and zesty snack made with legumes, puffed rice, onions and Wai Wai noodles, among other ingredients. Both the taste and texture make it a delightful treat. Sameer also offers chicken momos. His affable nature adds to the charm of the experience.
Our third stop in Humayunpur is Rajeev Tea Stall, a perfect spot to take a break from your work and indulge in a refreshing cup of tea. They also offer parathas for small hunger. As luck would have it, a sudden downpour during our visit turned the strong ginger tea they served into a welcoming respite. This shop is relatively newer in the neighborhood, as they have another one that's nearly 15 years old.
Our fourth stop was a charming kimbap stall named Lackteyyy's Kimbap Simbap, run by the genial young man from Nepal, Milan. After migrating to Delhi, he mastered the art of making kimbap through trial and error. Today, his kimbap is the talk of the locality. The stall is clean and Milan is very particular about the ingredients he uses. Each offering on the menu comes with an interesting tagline mentioned below. Upon his recommendation, we tried the pork kimbap and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Our final stop was a fritter stall located beside the kimbap place, run by a young Punjabi couple who are also locals. This stall specializes in a special fritter from Manipur called Maroi Nakkupi Bora. While traditionally it is made with a native chive called maroi nakkupi, here they use spring onions instead. This place is also a favorite among the locals, as small batches of crispy fritters are made and served right when ordered. We thoroughly enjoyed the crunch and the zesty flavors of these fritters.
Overall, this tour gave us a sneak peek into the vibrant food scene and the diverse culinary offerings in Humayunpur.

As an NCR local I have to say that I love the significant North Eastern crowd we have here, they have made a huge impact specifically on the food scene in Delhi over the years and are extremely warm and hospitable. And this is also why I feel no city in India can beat the diversity and taste of Delhi food
Lived in Humayunpur for 8yrs all throughout my college days. That time before 2010 we used to go only to State Bhawans to eat NE food …. this was actually a village full of Jaat community. Now it’s a heaven for NE people like us … fond memories ❤️❤️❤️
I was born in Humayunpur village in the year 1984, lived there for 5 years, it's not like the same which we are able to see now. Earlier it was all migrants from UP and bihar used to live there in humayunpur gaon, basically owned by jatt community. Time flies and all those migrants left humayunpur due to the increasing cost of living and taken over by NE people who can at least afford such high rents. Good to see development in this village, it's nostalgic for me to see the place after 40 years❤
I am in Delhi since 2005..now I feel like I am already a part of Delhi.. earlier during 2007-2008, there used to be few restaurants in humayunpur for Chinese or Nepali food..to name a few, it would be the chef (dragon), freedom started by bhutia brothers and slowly Naga food was introduced with time which was a great changer in cuisines available in Humayunpur. In around 2016 after, the locality has changed drastically. Now it’s a hub of fashion from clothing to dressing and in terms of food from Chinese food to nepali to Naga to Manipuri to Mizo to Korean to Tibetan and north Indian food..all types of culture and food has gelled in this place. The best thing about this place is even locals grew together with time so it’s a place where you will see harmony within this small Humayunpur which has grown so big in the heart of people in Delhi.. you will find people from all culture visiting the place enjoying its beautiful environment.. thanks for covering this place and thanks to all who has been a part of this beautiful growing village - Humayunpur 🙏
I am fond of Nepali Thakali or Nepali Thali ...had it in Nepal and also in Sikkim and Darjeeling. Love the jhol momos. I had momos in Thamel, Kathmandu which was best momos so far....and also as well as Tibetan Dishes. I am fond of the all of Himalayan cuisine.
Thanks for sharing
Humayunpur mein toh poora North East food joint hai. Wow! Maza aa gaya. It ended Paramjeet Paji's Manipur's Bora. Bohot saare jagah jaani hai agar maine Delhi visit kiya.
Anubhav ji aap desh ka har corner khoj nikalte hain. Aur humein food tiur karate ho. Thankyou very much!
Most welcome Amrita ji..

So proud of being Manipur Bora getting such recognition among other communities of India ❤
Lived in Delhi for years only to never know about this. Only regrets. Hope Job takes me back, would love to meet these lovely people.
Back in 2000s every NE person was referred/called as Nepalis by shopowners in Humayunpur n other areas in Delhi but today in this video (14:44)a shop owner refers people from NE as locals speaks volume about drastic change in people's awareness level. It's a positive sign for India.
I respect this man, I love your channel, you are so respectful to every section of people and you have the eagerness to see, taste and hear what you have never experienced. Best of luck for your journey and you gained one more loyal subscriber.
Thank you so much ☺️
Good old days......... One of the best memories...... Miss this place... Will always be closest to my heart❤
Ha, Rajeev... my paratha guy! Never imagined I'd see him here. He's a hardworking fella!
Such a positive vibe wala vlog, Thanks
My pleasure 😊
Loved this episode so much I wish we had this in kolkata as well I guess the saying closer to the church further away from God holds true for calcuttans inspite of the proximity to northeast we don't get their food here!! What was best about the vendors was their politeness how soft spoken each of them is and the nice refreshing humor of the Nepalese guy 😊 I hope they all do really really well in their business
My favourite place to eat is Categorical EatPham. and my staple order is the Pork Thali. Sometimes I go there and I dont even place the order. they know what i want, and it appears. haha. Just across the restaurant is Asha Thangkul store. Great place to pick up dried meats, meat pickle, various form of chillis, picked or otherwise. If you are there, say hello to the store cat, she's a sweetheart
What a super exploring and fun episode Anubhav bhai. So much to learn & so much to explore. Thanks a lot for introducing these recipes and authentic food to us.
Amazing, this is food heaven for me. Like I keep saying Asia is amazing keep reminding yourselves how great you all are, you cant get anything like this in the UK unless you go to somewhere like a China Town in Birmingham but that's all Chinese, Korean, Malaysian and Vietnamese food which is all great but you can not find this kind anywhere. Well not that I know of.
Thank you for covering the stories of the people behind the food joints which made my stay in Delhi so homely. For momos, I would also suggest to visit Laxmi Kitchen in Humayunpur, they have the best veg momos!!
True that, I stay few shops away 👌🏿
Wow wonderful episode sir❤❤ wish to go to humayunpur soon to try all the north eastern delicacies

Just a suggestion, that guy making the bora, i am pretty sure he’s heard the same comment from others, he can easily acquire nakuppi from INA market or any NE shop in bulk and make actual nakuppi bora. Yes we do eat bora made with spring onions, they taste amazing as well.

Nakuppi Bora is veg..come visit us
Great video but the anchor almost murmurs to himself, no clarity in voice and expression. He should take some speech classes to communicate better.
Normally he is good. Its just about this particular video...the mike n the background noise.
It's shameful for us that most of the places in Delhi are named after invaders and we take pride in it.
Nice video but pork Jo TUm ne kaya moje very bad me ne naam sunty hee vedio adhaa cut kardiaa don't eat..
So uncomfortable seeing those responses in English even though the asked questions were in hindi. I dont understand this unreasonable show off.

Agar koi muslim pork khata to hamari zimmedari hoti ke usko roke. Aap ko pata hai kaafi aise Arab aur Muslim desh hai jaha ki non Muslim population pork consume karti hai
For example Egypt and Malaysia
