Your positivity, helpfulness to your coworkers and continuos grateful attitude is so refreshing. I am a new graduate nurse about to take my NCLEX soon and your videos always inspire me to stay positive. The scariest natural disaster(s) that I have been through have been Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Ian, living in Florida we dont get snow storms, but do get tropical storm warnings, so dealing with power outages and debris on the roads can be scary but I'm glad you and your family are staying safe!
Aww thanks so much Serena. & good luck on your NCLEX. You're going to rock it! Hurricanes seems so scary to me as a west coaster....just can't even imagine going through a storm that big!
My scariest weather disaster was hurricane Katrina and hurricane Ida. Both category 4 and 5 storms, which are the most destructive. We don't have snow in Louisiana, so our stressful time is the summer. It definitely has given me PTSD.
There's a lady further down in the comments that lives in Puerto Rico and she went through a category hurricane five. She didn't have power for a year....
Wow that is so intense. I am truthfully quite afraid of storms like that. Glad you made it through, sending you hugs that the storms in the future are hopefully less traumatic.
I love how positive you are, you bring a smile to my day. The worst weather disaster I’ve ever been was a flood. The water level was high houses were flooded and cars under water. I was grateful my house was on a hill but still we were quarantined
I’m in Portland too. I’m so glad this snow and ice is over!! I love your attitude and positivity. My mom was an RN but passed away when she was too young. Nurses are the best! Love your videos ❤❤
I was in an ice storm in NC as a child (without power for 9 days and my dads company put us up in a hotel after the first few nights) but I don't remember much of it. My adult natural disaster was probably Hurricane Matthew in Florida. We didn't lose power so I did exactly what you offered and let people come over to charge phones, take showers, store their food. So proud of you for everything you're accomplishing sweet girl!!
I live in south of you and we had a snow storm a few years back that knocked out the power for a full month. We were also shoveling our roads with the tractor because they were only clearing main roads. Not scary, just a long time without power
Your videos always brighten up my days when it is miserable outside. Thank you Kira for all your work you put into these videos. Much love from Germany.
It new to me that you still have power lines like that, i am 27 years old and I don’t remember the power line in my country it all under ground , we don’t get scary weather in ksa except rain storms , but we have grasshopper (locusts ) storms where they come in thousand every couple years and that is scary and gross because they stuck everywhere
Happy it went well for you during the storm. I'm from Québec, Canada, so the two natural disasters that come to mind are a flood in the summer of 1996 that basically took out most of a neighbouring town when dams broke, and the ice storm of 1998. We also had a bad ice storm last winter here, but I wasn't impacted by that one too much.
we're on the west coast of canada - Vancouver, and I can relate to the whole city shutting down! we just had a snow dump, too, and the city was freaking out for a day or two! stay safe and thank you for working hard amidst the weather chaos! ♥
The craziest weather disaster I've been in was definitely the 2021 Winter Ice/Snow Storm. It affected most of Memphis (where I'm from). In total, we got 10-12 inches of snow not including all the ice. We we're also under a boil water alert for 7 days because of the water pressure. Love your videos btw!!
About a year and a half ago I lost power in a thunderstorm for 18 hours. For me that was the worst especially in the summer so it was about 98/99 degrees inside. I tried to take a nap in my car at one point to help not overheat. Had just bought all new groceries so had to throw all that out after. Plus after I found out that a friend of mine who lives 15 mins down the road had power… I could have gone to bunk at hers to at least get charge on my phone and some sleep without using gas.
I'm from Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 so Hurricane María, it was a category 5 and we didn't have power for almost a year in most parts of the island. Btw I love your vids 💕
Almost a year??? How did you manage without power for that long? Asking as I’m someone to freak out after the 10 hour timeframe. Any tips you may have picked up?
My worst natural disaster experience happened last summer when I was driving home late after work on a highway that runs through a valley. There was a sudden downpour and water immediately started rising. Nothing quite like bobbing up and down in a flash flood in a tiny Fiat that's losing power and not being able to see anything outside due to the rain and wind😂 I somehow got out but still haven't mustered up the courage to drive on that highway again.
Knowing from my experience living in PORTLAND, the city itself doesn’t handle snow storms really well. Like the whole city shuts down. For me being in Northern Idaho right now. We got hit with a snow storm and the city I live in currently doesn’t shut down like Portland does.
Love watching your videos! You have a permanent smile on your face and always seem so positive! So refreshing! I start as a new grad in the ICU tomorrow morning! I'm so nervous!
You gotta get yourself blackout curtains for night shifts! Light still creeps in around eye masks and, if you’re me, you also remove the mask in your sleep, blackout curtains make it easier to trick your circadian rhythm!
Where i live in Australia, we get a lot of hail storms on Summer days which sucks because you don't know what will get damaged each time that it happens. BUT other than those, we have been flooded in for a week (our street and yard were flooded from a lot of rain but the house was fine) as well as having no power for that same week ( I will always be grateful to have natural gas for cooking and showers 🙌) My dog was very confused over where to do her business that week 🤭💖
Omg I didn't even think about the dog bathroom breaks 😂 crazy how much can change so quickly! Hail storms are the worst...I drove through one once and my friends car was so dented after that.
It’s more like a day max in the fridge but that’s for non dairy products. Dairy products would be more like 4 to 8 hours. 2 days max in the freezer if you don’t open either at all to keep the cold air in.
Hi Kiara!! I’m also a peds hem/onc /bmt nurse, I was wondering where do you get your long sleeves for work from? I neeeed more lol. Love your videos, they’re so relatable with nightshift life haha
Most of them are either old lululemon from my high school days or figs (which I like more and are less expensive especially if they have a sale or coupon)
Craziest natural disaster was probably when a hurricane hit the UK in 1987- I was only a small child but the noise the wind made has stayed with me. There was also no warning so the recovery afterwards took a long time. We're also now just getting hit by Storm Isha, and it sounds crazy outside right now!
The worst natural disaster I've been in is when I was a kid, I was evacuated for a forest fire. It ended up being the largest forest fire in Arizona history to that point (it has since been surpassed by an even bigger forest fire). I was evacuated for almost 3 weeks. My mom was an EMT at that time and she had to stay behind to help the firefighting efforts. About 500 homes in my town were burned down but thankfully mine survived, although the fire got about half a mile of my house. It took over a year for the smoke smell to dissipate from everything in the house.
wow what a journey. Fires are so scary. We had a big one here in Oregon in 2020 and evacuating my friends and sitting there watching the news like crazy was so stressful.
Things shut down during these storms because we don't just get snow. We get packed ice on top of the snow, and it's slick as hell everywhere. Too dangerous to walk or drive to be honest.
mine was waking up at 2 in the morning in a storm thinking the wind was the one that is making our blue eye that we have hanging outside our house sway when in reality it was an earthquake so half asleep woke up to my dad yelling and waking us up to leave our house in an old very run down building on the 8th floor while it was storming barely a year maybe a little less from when the peir(?? dont know if its the correct word) exploded (in lebanon)
Do you have a sound machine? And also you should get blackout curtains! Those things might help you get some good sleep when there’s things going on around you!
Sound machine was on but the ice pelting my window was wayyy louder lol. I do love my eye mask and it's 100% dark which is great cuz my windows are my full wall of my room so it would cost hundreds to get them to be fully blackout :/
Hurricane Maria in 2017, in Puerto Rico, where I live. Some places went without power for over 6 months, others for a year. It was a major disaster. Horrible! Imagine a hurricane category 5 hitting the island for 24 hours...ptsd full!
Here in Colorado worse natural disaster is when we got hit with a massive snow storm like four feet. When I opened my garage door, I couldn't even get out because my driveway was covered with snow. I had to plow my way out. Do they salt the roads before a snow storm and plow the roads after the storm?
woah that's wild! We don't salt and there is minimal plowing because we usually don't get a ton of snow so we have limited resources which is why it's so bad when it happens!
Kiara!!!! Love to see your update!!! It was sooooo cold here in Alberta, Canada. -48 Celsius. Sooooo cold!!! We finally got snow though and it’s -20 now
my scariest weather was a EF4 tornado lost everything tree was in the middle of the house.. i live in Massachuetts and we never had tornados b4 but know we get them ..
Craziest emotionally was the earthquake in ‘89 in the CA Bay Area. My parents stayed calm and that helped, but I was a little kid and freaked out. As an adult, it is probably every snow day in Portland. I just stay home until it melts. Or take the bus. You don’t want me out in the icy roads :)

Was there supposed to be music at the beginning of the video? You were talking but couldn’t hear what you were saying?
Oh no….I got copyrighted and now it’s really messing things up 🙈 thanks for letting me know idk if I can fix it now
@@KiaraMadisen I wasn’t sure if it was something on my end. Great video as always! I wish I had your energy Lol!

Wow that was a big one. I remember my elementary school rising money to help send over to help!
What’s going on with the start of the vid? It’s just music and can’t hear you talking
The song got copy righted and then youtube wasn't smart enough to stop the music when I tried to fix it after it was posted :/ thanks for being understanding!
I hate driving in that stuff
Hope you survive 😂
Thank you! ❤️
That chili looked watery and nasty 😭
