messed up one calculation and it affected the others, gaah 🤦🏻♀️ I really hope this video helps. obviously everyone's spending is individual and yours could be higher/lower than mine but this can hopefully give you a general idea of spending costs. I was also still able to travel during my time at university - you can see the video on how here: ua-cam.com/video/4juHug7763A/v-deo.html timestamps: 00:45 explaining student finance england 4:13 breakdown of expenses 14:55 total cost
Its fascinating to see the financial breakdowns of different university costs. Having this info available can really help students make the right financial decisions to put them on a path to a bright financial future. Thanks for sharing, great video and channel!
I feel depressed. I won't be able to finance my studies without financial support from SFE :') bye bye UK, it was nice to dream of you.. but ofc I'm still gonna watch your videos~
When it comes to maintenance loans, be sure to apply for the top up too! The worst case scenario is that you get rejected but you might be able to get up to double what you would’ve done with the flat loan. If I didn’t apply for the max, i would’ve gotten less than half of what i did. It also gets paid the same as your tuition loan! Also, I’m so glad I’m not staying in at my choice university in London. I would’ve had to pay £7000 for my accommodation because the minimum was 40 weeks (even though our full year is 30 weeks...). I’m saving £4000 by living at home and travelling. Loved the video!
Your videos make me feel like Oxford is an university where everyone could go, even i could attend that uni... when in real life is so selective and prestigious 😂😭
Hey Viola, my name is Hamza Woodson and I'm currently a 11th year in an American Highschool. I'm planning on applying to Oxford because of watching your videos so thanks so much! However I don't think I have the funds to pay for International fees as of late to attend Oxford so I was planning on applying defered entry. The only reason for this is financial constraints, however I am worried that it will be harder for me to get into my desired course (Arch/Anth) if I do so. If you have any advice for me on this topic please let me know!
Saw the comments on your hair. Am like you really different in this video. The cost of studying in oxford is quite high but your looking in this video gave a calming effect 😀
I have to say that I like your new hair style, that's so cute!!! and the tuition fee in England is so expensive even as local student, in België the local student's tuition fee is only around 1000 euro hahahaha
Is it weird to say that I appreciate the way you speak? You enunciate so well, it makes it easier to lip read too for those of us who are hard of hearing
Hey I am in process of being admitted for PhD at oxford. I wanted to know do we need to pay separate fees for colleges or it is under tuition fees? And is it necessary to stay at University accomodation?
did you only use your loan to pay for everything, or did you ever find you needed more from elsewhere? i’m worried that i won’t be able to cover it all as i don’t have a job to save up beforehand
ephemeral my loan and bursary covered everything and i was v sensible with money. i also earned small bits of money from being a college ambassador and had savings from other jobs + birthday/christmas presents that i used to pay for balls and travelling
but it’s also very common to get a part-time job at uni - oxford and cambridge don’t allow it during term time but because we have such long holidays we have enough time to get one if we need to!
Looking at your prices for rent, it seems more expensive than you made it seem. It may seem less expensive because you’re only paying termly, however, the price of the rent is the same as someone would pay in halls and that is pretty pricey. At my university the price of your rent for your first year was more expensive than I paid for a 50 week contract
Sam Wood I totally get that - I just meant that it’s definitely cheaper overall per year than, say, London accommodation. also my rooms for second and fourth year were en-suite and I only shared a bathroom with one other in first year. we had our rooms cleaned weekly and we had a 3-course evening meal every night included in the price. obviously accommodation costs can be cheaper at other unis for longer leases depending on which halls you opt for but overall I don’t think our accommodation costs are overly expensive for what we get!
it’s also worth noting that accommodation prices differ per college! The rooms at my college are banded from 1-6, so my room was less than 3k overall in 1st year (band 2)
@@toluatilola6412 exactly! my 1st year accommodation was actually £3618 if you don't include our evening meal prepayment that's included in the overall cost
can i ask how did you manage to fund the extra money over the maintenance loan? (were you on the £4000 loan or higher..? xx) (i just finished uniq and want to go to oxford but finance is still confusing to navigate 😅)
hey, I received a higher loan since I'm from a single parent background and have a sister who was also at uni at the same time as me. as I said in the video, I used my loan and the bursary I received from oxford every term to cover all of my costs xx
aside from the Oxford bursaries that all Oxford students are eligible for (the one which I received), there's also the Crankstart (formerly the Moritz-Heyman) scholarship where you can receive up to £5,000 annually if your household income is below £27,500!

hi Hamza, i applied for deferred entry & got an offer so it’s not a problem, and i’m sure it won’t be for arch&anth either!
@@violahelen_ Oml thanks so much! thats a big weight off my shoulders.

Are you able to make back the money 💰 from the jobs offered
Hello sis
I have questions will you answer? Please ☺️
You missed to deduct your youtube earning from the total cost !! hehe
my UA-cam earnings don't go towards my cost of living whilst at Oxford :) I use the little money I make from UA-cam on travel/savings!
Are the college fellows at the balls?
yes, the college balls are open to all tutors/professors too!
Are you British?
Sexy hair - keep doing that !!!
